How to fix menu bar display not being matched to MacBook screen?

My MacBook Pro (14"; Nov 2023; MacOS 14.6) has menu bars for all apps displaying incorrectly. The bar is narrower than it used to be, and the gap in the menu bar for the screen notch is misaligned. Compare the photo to the screenshot in the image below: it's as if the OS thinks the notch is over on the left side of screen. I've restarted the computer several times; can't find much online about this error. I don't think it corresponded to an OS upgrade. Any idea how I can fix this?
