SQL Management Studio Intellisense - Hide global variables

I am not sure if this is possible, but when writing a query to select from a table, when I bring up the intellisense drop down with CTRL + Spacebar, it gives me a list of all variables (global, and on the table). Is there any way to make this only show the variables in the table I am selecting from? Its basically completely useless unless you know the name of the field already, so then what is the point of the intellisense drop down?
