Can I use my SIM card slot to telephone?

My laptop (a Thinkpad T440) has a SIM card slot which is meant to be used for Internet, though I haven't tested that yet since I don't have any SIM cards with Internet contracts. However, is it possible to use my laptop as a phone with a SIM card? Or would I need a different antenna for that? EDIT: Oh, and I'm running Arch on it (in case that makes a difference).
