Debian 9.1 - system is ignoring ulimit for maximum open files for rtorrent

The max_open_files limit in .rtorrent.rc config is also set. I rebooted after the changes. Any idea why ? Thanks for your answers! **EDIT: Looks like screen is the reason. If i start rtorrent without screen, everthing is fine. Any idea why ?**
