I back up my phone by backing up the various state directories under /data/, including the /data/data/ state directory of the launcher. The details aren't important but the backups include all files' metadata, including xattrs and acls. Caches and certain ephemeral or otherwise replaceable files are excluded but for Trebuchet this only affects its cache directory. When I back up, wipe and restore on Android 14 (LineageOS 21) however, the launcher is still in its default/reset state eventhough the launcher was modified when the backup was taken. This did not use to happen on Android 13 (LineageOS 20). When I selectively restore the launcher's /data/data/ directory, it is still in the default state. If I produce some launcher state and move all files under the launcher's /data/data/ directory, it resets as expected. If I then undo the rename, I get back to the state I initially produced. What is going on? Where else could it be hiding state that is critical to the launcher function? For reference, these are the state directories under /data that I generally restore:
/app/
/data/
/system/package*
/system/netpolicy.xml
/system/users/0/
/misc_de/0/apexdata/com.android.permission/
/user_de/0/
/misc/apexdata/com.android.wifi
/system/notification_policy.xml
/property/persistent_properties
/user_de/0/org.lineageos.lineagesettings
/misc/profiles/
/system_ce/

How to show the complete title of an app?

I have a lot of videos that I would like to distinguish before opening them.

How to remove app shortcut from home screen (modded trebuchet launcher) after installing as system app

This tablet is proprietary, so the launcher is custom (modded trebuchet) and very limited. It runs Android 8.1. I was able to get apex launcher installed, along with root access, but I'm trying to avoid using a third-party launcher because if I rename it with app cloner it tends to glitch out. The goal is for my exploit of this tablet to be as undetectable as possible, which is why I am renaming all apps I've installed. I noticed that system apps don't show up on the stock launcher home screen, and since I can't use apex or some other launcher, I figured I would install all my wanted apps (Facebook, telegram, etc...) as system apps. I was able to install them as system apps with lucky patcher, however they still show on the home screen.. Any ideas for how I can modify the system under the hood, or otherwise, and keep these apps from showing on the stock (modded trebuchet) launcher?

How to change the browser of a web-shortcut?

An incompatibility between F-Droid's current version of IceCat and Android 8, makes it that I can't Add to home screen from IceCat (well, I can, but it doesn't do anything other than jump back to Trebuchet). How can I create a web-shortcut to IceCat in that case? I figured I could create a web shortcut with another browser, but it seems those shortcuts are "bound" to their original browser, so even though IceCat is my default browser, the web shortcut opens up in another browser. Maybe another way to ask this, is: how to create a web shortcut which is not specific to any browser, so when I click it I get asked which browser to use.

Make the home button go the middle screen?
With Android 8.1, the wallpaper can cover all three screens. So when you move from the first screen to the second, and from the second to the third, the wallpaper pans to a different part. Trebuchet: Disable/Hide Dock
Is there a way to disable the dock entirely on Trebuchet on CyanogenMod? I find that I always go to my main home screen before touching the app drawer out of habit, so I'd like to have that extra space for the regular screens. Is this possible?

Force Trebuchet to reload my widgets?
Whenever I install a new widget, I don't know if it supports ICS or not immediately because it won't show up on the Widgets tab until I restart the phone. It is highly inconvenient. Is there a way to force Trebuchet (my home app) to reload the widget list everytime I install a new app?

Here's the setup I have for my phone right now: - I am running on a custom ROM that has Trebuchet for the home application. - The custom ROM is ICS-based. - I have somewhat successfully gotten Google Now (the Jelly Bean feature) to work on my phone. - I decided to use Home2 Shortcut to map double-clicking on my home button to launch Google Now's voice input. The above setup works fine aside from a single caveat. When I view the Recent Apps menu while inside another application, I can see Trebuchet on the list. This is not the behavior I was looking for and from what I can tell, it is appearing on the Recent Apps because I've set Home2 Shortcut as my new home app (to handle the double-clicks) and then Home2 Shortcut opens Trebuchet as regular application. So yeah, now I want to know how I can make Trebuchet **not** appear on Recent Apps. Is there some kind of manifest-editing that I can do to make Trebuchet act that way? If not, what other approaches can I try?
