My AppleCare+ agreement on my MacBook Pro expires in mid-July. At present, checking my coverage shows everything is fine as expected. However, a search of my options does not reveal any means of extending my coverage early, before the expiry date. Do I have to wait until the expiry date, and within the renewal window (45 days, if I recall correctly) before the options change to allow an extension? I'm in the UK, for clarity of the relevant rules. In the past, I've traded in the old machine for new, plus new coverage.

Does erasing a new iPad Air cancel a post-device-purchase AppleCare+ plan?

I just bought an iPad Air from the Apple Education store. I did not buy AppleCare+ at purchase because the Education store only lets you buy the one-shot two-years-and-it's-over plan. I set it up by starting setup from my iPhone so I thought it would fully set itself up from the iPhone. As soon as things got far enough along that I could log into the iPad I purchased AppleCare+ via the iPad itself (the $40/yr until cancelled plan). It was only then that I realized it had decided to use the backup from my (old) iPad to restore from rather than using the iPhone's backup. This was not what I wanted and so I decided to erase and start from scratch. But when I went to "Erase All Content" it showed the AppleCare+ plan as one of the things that will "be safely removed"! So am I screwed? Does this mean I can't erase the iPad in order to start over without losing the plan? (And a secondary question -- how can I make it use the iPhone's backup instead? Or is there no way to do that?)

I have till April 17th to buy Applecare if I decide to keep it . But can I buy apple care from the New Zealand website for a JAPAN purchased macbook M1 2020- since that's my residence area after travels end? Online reddit, stackexchange give so many variations- some say its all international warranty , some say its better to get AC+ from place of purchase (Japan) Please advise..I have less then 16 hours . I have a Macbook Pro 16" from 2021 with Apple Care Plus. A few weeks ago, (sticky) liquid spilled over the keyboard. All keys still work, but some get stuck when typing. The battery only has 83% of the design capacity left. Now I can claim Apple Care Plus in the event of liquid damage and apply for a repair with an additional payment of €259. My questions about this: - Would the complete lower part of the Macbook be replaced or actually just the keyboard? - Will the battery also be replaced during the repair and will it be back to 100% afterwards? - The SSD is fixed on the logic board. Will the Mabook be set to factory settings after the repair and will I have to restore a backup? - Has anyone here had similar experiences - how is the repair process going?

I completed an EDU order for a new Mac this morning. The order doesn’t show in my AppleID, but I got the confirmation email from Apple to the email address provided during the order (paid with ApplePay). That address is equal to that of my AppleID. When logging into my account from the Order Status page, I get the “The Apple ID does not match the one associated with the order”. If I then try to look for this order without logging in, and provide that same email address, it shows “The order is already associated to another AppleID”. I spent 3h today on the phone with Apple Support. I believe I’m now acquainted with every advisor from their Greece office (I’m based in Italy), yet they couldn’t help. They bounced me from one department to another, some of them feeling sure the technical support should’ve been able to align the order and the AppleID, others bouncing me back to post-sale since only they could help. In the end, all I got was a “don’t worry, Sir… it will be all right”. That’s the best I could get from them. No one was able to solve this. There are several topics about this on discussions.apple.com but none of the solutions proposed there has any effect. There is no “Add to AppleID” button in my order. Does anyone here have a solution that works?

I'm looking at buying a new iPad (M1 Air version) and I have two options: either from the UAE or one that's imported from the US. The one on the UAE is actually cheaper (special circumstances) and I can get it faster. But I heard there used to be restrictions on UAE hardware, e.g. you can't install FaceTime and maybe other apps, so I would definitely prefer to pay a little more for one that's full-featured (i.e. the US one). My question is: are there still any restrictions on Apple devices bought in the UAE? Or do they work exactly like the ones in the US now? **EDIT**: I respectfully disagree with the close reason as it references an 8-year old question and things may have changed significantly in the meantime. Indeed, I went to the Apple Store today, and the salesman there told me that as long as I setup the iPad for my region (i.e. not UAE) then there'll be absolutely no restrictions at all. I explicitly asked about FaceTime and they said while it would not work in the UAE, it would work elsewhere. Furthermore, while I have read that devices bought in the UAE are not covered by international warranty, the salesman told me exactly the contrary, that they do have global warranty. Now pardon me if I'm skeptical as I've had many salesmen tell me exactly what I wanted to hear in order to close a sale, only to figure out later that wasn't exactly true. So I was looking from updated information from other users with first-hand experience, who have actually bought Apple devices in the UAE recently (say 2022 or 2023), whether the restrictions still exist or not.

Why does it say "(x) days left to add coverage"?

I went through the purchase process, adding credit card, etc, and even up to the last confirmation page I was never told what I was purchasing (what the plan term is) What is the plan term for the "Paid in Full" option? It certainly can't just be 2 incidents indefinitely. I doubt I could get support in 2050 for this 2021 Mac.

I have problem with iCloud backup on my iPhone. After several calls to the Russian department of Apple support they suggest me to change my AppleID password temporarily to an test password proposed by the support specialist to see what's going on with my account. Also they say that they get access to all my data stored on phone: messages, photo, apps data etc, and I should agree with this terms. Of course they say usually engineers don't read/watch users data, but I think it's weird to grant access to all my data. Should I trust them and share my pretty photos, banking apps and personal chats? I'm pretty sure I have talked with the official Apple support, not scammers.

Who repairs a two week MacBook Air cracked screen without Apple Care+?

I got an iPad back in June 2010 and it worked wonderfully for about 30 days; full bars for 3G all the time. I **_loved_** it. Then one day the 3G just seemed to quit working and Apple says it is *"fine."* Now I *hate* it! **How can I get Apple to admit my iPad 3G does not work and actually fix or replace it?** Here are more details: After the iPad started displaying "No Service" for 3G most of the time I went to the local Apple store (a Lenox Mall in Atlanta) and they took it for an hour, said they ran diagnostics on it and that *"it was fine."* While in the store it did have 5 bars, but by the time I got to the parking lot it was on **"No Service"** again. I'm assuming that Apple and AT&T put 3G signal boosters in their stores to ensure people have no trouble with the signals when they are trying to decide if they are going to buy an iPhone or iPad. I didn't have time to deal with it for a while but finally called tech support and they said I needed to replace the SIM card. So I travelled to AT&T and they replaced the SIM card, and while in the store it was fine. Before I had travelled 1/4 mile it was on **"No Service"** again. So here I'm assuming that AT&T also has 3G signal boosters in their stores too. So time passed because I didn't have time to deal with it and finally was able to get a tech support support person to offer to return it for repair. Hurray! So I went to the UPS Store to ship it back, and then about 5 days later I get an email from Apple saying "We found nothing wrong, so we are shipping it back to you."* Sure enough when I got it back it was exactly as before: **"No Service."** where other iProducts have 4 or 5 bars. Now you might ask, maybe it's really not the iPad but instead where I'm taking it? I'd consider that might be true had it not worked flawlessly for about 30 days. Or if I didn't live in Midtown Atlanta where signal strength is strong. Or if I didn't live _across the street_ from the AT&T tower in Midtown Atlanta. Or if I hadn't seen many times where my iPhone 3G has 3 to 5 bars and my iPad had **"No Service."** Or if I hadn't seen my iPad with **"No Service"** and iPads of my friends with 5 bars. I've even started taking photos to prove it: Image (source: [mikeschinkel.com](https://mikeschinkel.com/websnaps/skitched-20110129-032029.png)) Image (source: [mikeschinkel.com](https://mikeschinkel.com/websnaps/skitched-20110129-040939.png)) Image (source: [mikeschinkel.com](https://mikeschinkel.com/websnaps/skitched-20110129-040046.png)) At this point my guess is the 3G antenna inside my iPad has failed and Apple's diagnostics don't detect it because they might not have been designed to detect that exact problem. So what I get is the continuous run-around rather than respectful customer service. Thus far I've wasted about 20 hours on this problem, and at my $75/hour billing rate that's more than 2x what the iPad cost. **I'm beyond sick about this. Does anyone know how I can get this resolved without another 20 hours of my time?** Gracious thanks in advance for your help. -Mike P.S. I bought the iPad for web access when I'm out at places that don't have WiFi and especially for access to Google Maps. But since the 3G became so unreliable I don't even use it anymore. :-( ##UPDATE #1 I don't have a resolution yet but I have hope, and a story. I had my assistant take my iPad to an Apple store again and they told her that it was because I didn't have a current AT&T account which was _total BS._ A working iPad still shows 3g signal without an AT&T account, but since I was in a meeting when she went to the Apple store I didn't get a chance to tell the Apple store person that they were an unhelpful idiot. Then later in the day she stopped by an Apple Authorized Service Center when I was available via phone and the tech at that store told me the same thing _(Ugh!)_. So I gave her my credit card, she signed up for a $15/month plan and then _**LO-AND-BEHOLD**_ the service tech experienced _EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN DESCRIBING (as I expected): Hallelujah!!!_ He offered to send back to Apple with his explanation that it is *INDEED* a faulty iPad. So, with fingers tightly crossed it seems like the answer to this huge f**ing time sink thanks to Apple's customer _no_-service might just be to **get 3rd party validation at an Apple Authorized Repair Center**. I'll follow up to let others know if indeed this resolved my problem or not and if so I'll name and praise the service center for their help.

I recently cracked my iPhone XS's back camera. Since it is under AppleCare+ until early October, I paid $99 for an Express Replacement which requires that I mail the broken phone to them. Unfortunately, when the replacement arrived, I had to switch the SIM card to the replacement, but the SIM card mechanism became damaged on the old phone while i was doing so. I do not believe I did anything wrong at all, it just wont let the tray back into the phone. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Should I contact Apple about it in advance and risk losing the right to my $99 claim or should I mail it in anyway and hope for the best? I believe it is a design flaw in the SIM tray that such a thing can happen.
