How do I paste programmatically generated formatted text (eg. HTML) into Google Docs?

I'm generating some formatted content that I'd like to paste into a google doc. Think links & tables. I'll use whatever format works, but I think HTML is the only one Google Docs will support enough (Google Docs does not support tables in markdown, as near as I can tell). What makes this a mac-specific question is the pasteboard data type. I've discovered that if I set the [pasteboard type as HTML](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appkit/nspasteboard/pasteboardtype/1529057-html) , then I can paste into the google doc and its interpreted. (If I just regular copy-paste raw html, it shows up as the html source in the google doc, it does not get formatted). But, even setting that pasteboard data type is a headache. [pbcopy](https://ss64.com/mac/pbcopy.html) does not provide a way to set the data type. [pbpaste](https://ss64.com/mac/pbpaste.html) has a -Prefer argument to let you choose what data type to _paste_, but (a) I'm trying to set the type for the copy, not the paste and (b) even pbpaste doesn’t list html as an option. (I found an answer via a python lib which works for now, but I'm asking anyway in case there better options, and to help anybody else that might try this)

Recently switched to the more minimal version of the character viewer so I could use it keyboard-only. It's such a dream not to have to take my hand off the keyboard anymore. Only problem: it doesn't work when I'm in google docs. I think google docs is probably the thing *causing* this problem, the same way it suppresses voice typing. But is there any way for me to override this so I can easily insert special characters while working in docs? What happens: I try to pull up the character viewer with ⌘+Ctrl+Space. It briefly flashes on screen and then disappears. I'm on a Mac with Apple silicon running Sonoma 14.4.1. I'm using Chrome Version 126.0.6478.183 (Official Build) (arm64) and Firefox 128.0 (64-bit). UPDATE: this also happens EVERYWHERE on Firefox. Nav bar, all websites. As @BenjaminGolder discovered, both types of character picker are suppressed. (Though I've gone back to docs on chrome and found that the same is true there).

I tried assigning a different key in Sys prefs > Keyboard > dictation, but dictation still won't activate in Google Docs. Is there a way to get around Google’s incompatible shortcut mappings? I am pretty sure this is designed to get me to switch to Chrome, but I that’s not my browser of choice. Thanks. ;)

I have got an iPad 6th gen which is updated to iPadOS 16.2. I sometimes use Google Docs to save some links (that open in Google Docs itself, I've set it to be like that). For example, I saved a link to archive.org , which I tried to access (it worked as usual), but when I wanted to make a search, the keyboard wouldn't show up. The input field shows a blue line (see circled part on screenshot below) as usual to show where I'm at when typing but not the keyboard! I need to copy text from Quick Notes (easiest way I found) and then paste it in the search bar. Here is a picture of it happening: screenshot of input field on archive.org showing the cursor but no keyboard showing I browsed answers on this website and on the internet for this kind of problem but I haven't found anything working for me. It happened to me this morning (March 8th, 2023) for the first time. How do you fix this problem? Thanks to any help that could be provided.

i need to share some Google Docs i created with some people who have a variety of devices they use. i'd like to send them a link to the shared documents. problem is, at least on iPhone & iPad (i don't have any android devices to test with), when they click the link in an email, it launches Safari. i AM getting the popup to get the Google Docs app. but after i download it & sign in, i can't find a way to get the shared document to open in the Google Docs app! now, on my iPhone, i do get the bar at the top that comes down with an "Open in app" button. but nothing like that on the iPad. and i have no idea about android. also of note: i did create some Firebase Dynamic short links for these docs. i thought perhaps those would do the work of getting the user to open the documents in the app from the browser, but i don't think that's making any difference. so, is there anything i can do to make this EASILY happen for people who aren't very technically minded? are there some steps/instructions on how to get a gDocs link in Safari to open in the gDocs app??? i've looked thru the "Shared" options but gDocs is not an option there. and you can't copy/paste the link directly into the gDocs app (as far as i can find). thanks for any help/insight. --- UPDATE: i guess these things are called "Smart App Banners". the oddest thing is now it IS showing up on both my iphone & ipad, but it's still NOT showing up on my wife's iphone. i've rummaged thru all the settings i could find & they all match mine. so i'm confused why it seems to be selectively showing up. without that banner, i don't know how people will get the doc into the Google Docs app from mobile Safari.

Is it possible to convert some of my Apple Notes that are currently in my iCloud, over to Google Docs? I use about 7 iMacs a week for work but the network here at work has been odd with letting me login to iCloud. Apple's server has issues connecting. But all I really need is my Notes to come over to Google Docs so I can view and edit them whenever I wish while on the web. I've tried copy & paste but the format gets lost. Any ideas on how to bring those over along with the text format?

I've got the Google Docs app installed on my iPad. There is a link in this doc and I need to copy the URL to the URL field in a calendar event. However, I can't figure out how to do this. I have tried long tapping on the link. This gives me the choices "Open Link", "Edit Link", "Remove Link", "Cut", "Copy", "Paste", and "Add Comment". The "Copy" choice copies the text, not the URL of the link. The "Open Link" option opens the link the Google Sheets app, which does not seem to provide a way to find the URL of the page that is open. The "Edit Link" brings up a dialog containing a text field with the "Link" but I can't figure out how to copy it. I can tap to move the cursor, but I can't bring up any sort of menu to copy or even select part of the URL either by tapping or long pressing. How can I copy this link so I can paste it into the Calendar URL field?

If I turn on google docs/sheets/drive offline sync through chrome on os x and activate "Make Available Offline" for some doc, where is the doc stored locally on my machine? I am not talking about google back up and sync - I am talking specifically about activating offline docs sync through a browser (in this case chrome). This answer gives the answer for PC, Android, and Linux but not mac. I looked in all the typical Application Support folders as well as in Chrome Developer Tools --> Sources --> Filesystem and also Developer Tools --> Application --> IndexedDB but I cannot figure it out. IndexedDB --> GoogleDriveDs --> Offline shows an entry for offline synced files (and not others) but it doesn't help me find it locally on my disk. Thanks!
