It's been a few weeks since Google Maps stopped working properly on Safari. When I zoom out or move to a different area, roads and place names simply don't load. The map appears blank or incomplete, making it basically unusable.
I'm using a MacBook Pro Apple M1 Pro, Mac OS 14.1. The issue seems specific to Safari (Google Maps works just fine in Chrome on the same machine).
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any known fixes or workarounds?

How can I open a Google Maps URL in Apple Maps?

This _was_ working for the prior year that I have had this mac. I did click on _Device not shown? Learn more_ and it says to be logged in on both the mac and iPhone. I _am_ signed in on google to both of those devices. Any ideas?
**Update** This problem persists on two more iPhones (iphone12's) and on iOs 16, 17 and 18, and on a different mac (Sonoma 14.5)

Open addresses in google maps instead of apple maps
Street addresses in Messages, Calendar, etc appear as links to click. But when I tap on these links, they open in Apple maps. I prefer to use google maps (or citymapper, where available). How can I configure my iPhone so that it's opening addresses in the maps application of my preference?

Why does Google Maps only rotate 90º but not 180º when I rotate my iPhone?
Obviously, I haven't "locked" the rotation. You can see it rotating the first 90 degrees.
In my car, I prefer to have my phone in the cup-holder.
When I need to plug it in, this means the phone will be "upside down", so I'd like Google Maps to fully rotate to be readable.
I have an iPhone 12 mini with iOS 17.5.1 and Google Maps 6.122.1.69910 (i.e. updated recently).

Google Maps does not navigate when I use AirPods
When I use AirPods or Bluetooth headsets, Google Maps does not navigate by sound. I don't know why, but if I disconnect the Bluetooth and use the iPhone speaker, everything works well. I searched the internet for a remedy, but nothing worked. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Home and Work are defaulting to driving directions whereas pinned locations use whatever method of transportation you chose when you pinned them.
How do I change the method of transportation for the home or work locations under the Go tab?

In stand-alone automotive GPS systems if you just have it on but *have not programmed in a specific destination* it will show your moving on an active scrolling street map of the road you are on and any roads that are currently within the default zoom area.
So you get a display that shows your car stationary in the middle of the screen with the map moving around you. I found this extremely helpful when I am in locations that I am not real familiar with or just exploring to get the lay of the land. It's also good for finding shortcuts that you were not previously aware of.
If I open Apple maps (or Waze or Google maps...) tap on the locator (Apple maps arrow at top right) to display my current location the map does not follow me. I eventually drive off the displayed map and would have to tap the arrow to re-center the map. Needless to say operating a phone while you are driving is both Not Really Safe and unlawful in many parts of the US.
Is that something that Apple Maps does and I have not discovered how to activate it? Anybody know what that feature is *called?*

I would like to enable Google's Location History on my iPhone so I can see my location history at https://www.google.com/maps/timeline .
I tried enabling this functionality as follows: Open the Google app >
Menu
> My Account
> Personal Info & Privacy
> Activity Controls
> Location History
. Here my iPhone is listed, with a disabled checkbox. A message is displayed that says "Use a location enabled Google app on the iOS device to change the setting". When I click on the checkbox to enable it, nothing happens.
I have Settings
> Privacy
> Location Services
enabled, and Settings
> Privacy
> Location Services
> Google Maps
set to "Always".
Is there any way to enable the Location History functionality?

after switching to a new iPhone (11 max pro), all my lists with saved places are gone on my phone but they are still there in my Google account when I access maps via Web.
On top of that, the minute I create a NEW list on my phone, then close and open the app, the list is gone again. But it is there on when I access google maps via a computer.
Only things I can save are "Favorits" "Want to go", "Label", "Marked sopts", "Travel plans" but no lists.
Can anyone help?:-)

In the past (iOS5 and earlier) clicking on a link for directions within a website opened the separate maps app and provided directions. How do I force links in websites, that would normally open a google maps link in a "desktop" web browser, to open the new external google maps app? I do not find the current google maps website adequate (can't figure out how it would provide dynamic (voice) directions) and the new apple maps app is not opened by those links.

Like, really suddenly: I was on a Google Maps view in Safari, in the process of zooming the view in, and it stopped. I'm not zoomed in too far or anything, and I can still double-click to zoom in (I don't know how to zoom out), and dragging the mouse drags the map. Basically everything works like it was working 10 minutes ago, except mouse wheel scrolling.
I have two mice hooked up because of a weird monitor arrangement. Both still work (I mean the wheels still work) on other Safari windows and other sites, and terminal windows etc.
Shortly before this broke (I can't remember exactly how long, but not more than a minute), I experienced one of those things where Maps just fails, probably because a JavaScript update was needed. Thus I suspect this is probably a bug Google introduced, but I'm still curious. I have restarted my machine shortly before posting this (and after it got weird), so it's a new instance of the Maps window. (I don't know how to do a "force reload" with Safari, as a fairly new Mac user.)
Also I tried it on a Linux machine with Firefox in a freshly loaded window, and it's fine.
I don't think I accidentally changed anything, because literally all I was doing was rolling the mouse wheel. It's weird.

Why [Watch]->[Settings]->[Bluetooth] says no connection, but iPhone says there is a Bluetooth connection to the Watch?

I have no problem with 2-way communication between my AppleWatch Series 3 (os v8.5.1) and iPhone 12-mini (iOS v15.4.1).
The iPhone Settings shows the Apple Watch as a connected device.
However, on the [AppleWatch]->[Settings]->[Bluetooth]
I do **not** see the iPhone. For a baseline, I do see a desk-side speaker on the watch's bluetooth settings.
Perfect 2-way communication happens with the *iMessage* app and the *Currently Playing Song* app on the watch and the iPhone.
Ultimately, I was trying to install the ActiveOS platform on iOS, and somehow use that to enable GoogleMap's **TimeLine** feature on my Apple Watch via gps data caching when I'm away from the iPhone but always wearing the watch. Google Maps installs on the watch and in the *Settings* for that apps I maybe could connect to the iPhone to give this watch caching idea a try. I'm stuck because my watch cannot detect my iPhone using Bluetooth. But there is definitely communication happening for the iMessage and "Current Music" apps between the iPhone and watch. I guess it is via WiFi or NFC? I'm confused.
In any event, I'm in deep need of a wearable to perform location tracking. I'll accept any solution. Caching of gps coordinates for a few hours would be fine. A Timeline on Apple Maps would also be fantastic.
I've unpaired the watch and factory reset it. But, I just cannot get the watch to list the iPhone as a Bluetooth device. Yet, the watch and iPhone communicate for iMessage and Music.

After I upgraded my macOS to Catalina on my MacBook Pro 2018 (13.3", i5, 16GB RAM, TouchBar), Google Earth Pro will not open anymore.
When I launch the app, it opens the window but it will freeze and there's this annoying spinning beach ball. I have to force quit to quit the application.
What I've tried:
- I installed an older version of Google Earth Pro, but that did not solve the issue.
- I also cleared out the cache, turned off atmosphere, and my places in the repair window.
Does anyone have the same issue, is there anyway to fix this?
I can use the online (browser) version, but I'd like to use the application because it has more functionality.
