When I ask Siri to “direct me home,” I really mean that I want her to take me to my parking spot, which is about a block away from what Maps considers to be the location of my building. Due to one-way streets this can actually make a significant difference to the resulting navigation directions. I considered updating my contact card “home” address to the address of my lot, so I am able to continue to ask Siri to “direct me home,” use the “Home” button on CarPlay, etc. But I still want any non-maps-related services (such as Safari AutoFill) to know my real residential address. Is there a way iOS can distinguish these two concepts?

This is kind of like this https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/40612/why-cant-i-move-the-mini-itunes-player-between-spaces except it's an Xcode window on Sonoma 14.6 I have tried bringing the window to the edge on the side towards the space I want to move it to but snap to that space does not happen. Minimizing the window to the tray, going to the destination space and yanking the window from the dock results in the switch to the space it was minimized from, then unminimizing it :-[ I can drag just fine on i9 mbp running 14.6.1 though but not on thos macstudio running 14.6 maybe there is some spaces configuration switch buried somewhere?

Does Google Maps iOS have voice navigation
I have been using Google Maps iOS (Australia) and i have never received voice navigation. Is this supported? And if so is it supported in Australia? And if so once again, where should I check to get this working. I am using an iPhone 6Plus.

I have my iPhone 13 Pro connected via Bluetooth to my car stereo. Normally, I listen to podcasts or music while navigating via Maps. The spoken directions momentarily pause the music or podcast. Sometimes glitchy, but mostly seems to work as designed/expected. The other day I was with a passenger and just wanted spoken directions. I was having a conversation and did not want to hear the podcast. **I just wanted spoken directions and silence.** Except for Apple Maps spoken directions, I do not want anything else playing during my trip. This simple thing seems to be impossible to do. After each spoken direction, my podcast resumes, forcing me to manually hit the stop button on the car stereo. Force-quitting the Podcast app made no difference. After the next spoken direction, my last podcast just resumes playing. What is going on here? Why is it impossible to just hear spoken directions and nothing else?? My issue is very similar to this, but "solution" here does not seem to work: https://apple.stackexchange.com/q/423172/6943 ------ Like the answer below and other online sources, it's suggested to disable cellular data for the Music and Podcast apps. I tried that. It makes no difference. The Podcast is already saved on my phone and it just resumes playing. So far, no viable workarounds or solutions.

This tends to occur when trying to buy fuel whilst on a journey. The action I'm trying to use is double-click the home button [yes, I still have one of those, an SE2, my FaceID 13 Max lasted 24 hours before I sent it back] When I only had a single bank card in my Wallet this was less of an issue, holding the phone to the NFC device would auto-open the Wallet. Now I also have store cards in it, which are not part of any payment structure, merely contain a bar code the store's system can read to register my purchases for points. When Apple Maps is running I can't get Wallet to come to the front. It just opens the map instead.

I think it is a really big advantage of macOS over other operating systems that it supports a lot of Emacs navigating keyboard shortcuts out of the box. (^ ControlP, ^ ControlN, ^ ControlK, ^ ControlY, you name it...) One shortcut that I am really missing is the capacity to move to the beginning or end of a sentence in a text (in Emacs this is MetaA/MetaE). I could not find a substitute yet to emulate this behavior in macOS. If someone would know a possibility how to do that I would be really happy!

Can I use Siri to remember a particular GPS location, then later navigate back to it? It seems like it should be possible but I don't know what the voice directive would be. I occasionally use a car-share program that only offers two-way rentals. In other words, I have to return the car to the exact spot I picked it up at. It would be helpful if I could use Siri to mark the location where I picked up the car, so that later I could get turn-by-turn navigation directions back to that parking spot.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? It seems to happen randomly. I do on-site repair work, always going to a different location. So I use my navigation almost daily. I just use regular old Apple Maps. Sometimes I type in an address, sometimes I tell siri. Occasionally I send the maps over from my home computer (which may be one of the triggers of this, I'll need to do more testing). So normally you pick your address, you hit "GO" and you're off with maps and verbal turn-by-turn directions. When this no-navigating problem happens, you hit GO, and you get a map, but it's as if you haven't actually picked your router. Yet somehow you get sort of an overview summary of the 'steps' of your directions, but it doesn't read them to you, or indicate turns coming up. Yet it knows exactly where you are. You can have your waypoint drive right down the route tracking you, and theres a blue route line, but they aren't "linked". It's extremely annoying. There doesn't seem to be a way to KICK it into navigating. The day I took the screen shot below, I was repeatedly cancelling navigation, and reinitializing my route, but it kept getting stuck and not giving me directions. Does anyone else ever have this problem on their iPhone? My phone is an iPhone 8 running the newest iOS. I've had this problem in the past on my 6S too. enter image description here

I'm using latest versions of iOS and Google Maps on an iPhone 7, and when I turn the screen off, I do not hear turn-by-turn directions when using the navigation feature of Google Maps. Yet, according to the "Battery saving tips" of the [Google Maps app documentation](https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3273406?visit_id=1-636109402581671589-221536163&rd=1&co=GENIE.Platform%3DiOS&oco=0) , I should still hear the sounds. I verified this by turning off the screen (pushing power button) a few seconds before the next turn navigation came up. Then verified it was working by leaving the screen on for the next turn. The phone is not connected to any bluetooth devices either. Also, the Google Maps settings all seem to indicate that sounds are all enabled properly (volume icon on map is set to "unmuted"; under navigation settings, all relevant-looking settings are enabled; etc.). Any ideas why this would not be working for me? I've yet to try a restart of phone nor have I tried a reset of phone. (Will eventually try those if no other suggestions come up.) **Update:** I also just tried re-navigating to new location; I turned screen off in the middle of the, "okay navigation all set" message. Then, the "you're on the fastest route" message played while screen off, but then all the directions no longer play, so issue still happening. **Update 2:** I disabled bluetooth and restarted the phone, and the problem still exists. The voice directions also do not play when I have a different app in focus. I'll try a fresh install of Google Maps at some point soon.

Finder icon to to navigate up one level to enclosing directory would make my life so much easier. Especially when I have to move up several directory levels. I realize there's a keyboard shortcut, but sometimes I navigate via mouse only. There's also a menu option, but that's more involved than just clicking an icon -- which has been available in Linux & windows forever. I can't imagine why Apple would not include such a self-evident function, given that they're better in almost every other category of user experience. There was once an app to create such an icon, but I don't think it goes with High Sierra (up to & including Sierra only). enter image description here info edited in from deleted 'answer'
