Does Apple allow AppleCare expense deductions from an item’s trade-in value?

Pretty sure the answer is no; wanted to check for sure. I have a 2022 MacBook Pro with water damage. Only boots into recovery mode. I have AppleCare. Genius Bar said for $300 I can send it off in the mail and they’ll repair it. I don’t have $300 right now. The computer probably has a good turn-in value (if perfect condition). Do I have to pay $300, get it repaired, then try to turn it in (if I wanted the cash), or is it possible Apple can deduct the price I would have paid for the repair, and I can turn it in as is, for its post-AppleCare turn-in value, because they know I have AppleCare?

I have till April 17th to buy Applecare if I decide to keep it . But can I buy apple care from the New Zealand website for a JAPAN purchased macbook M1 2020- since that's my residence area after travels end? Online reddit, stackexchange give so many variations- some say its all international warranty , some say its better to get AC+ from place of purchase (Japan) Please advise..I have less then 16 hours . I will be returning to NZ and AUS after my Asia travels done . I have till tomorrow march 20 9PM for refund.

Need advice: should I open the back of a 2013 Retina MacBook Pro as a means to recover data?

A Late-2013 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina (MBPr) of mine was fried by a water spill and some very important data is on the SSD. My most recent back up doesn't include this data. I know the computer is fried but I'm not sure if the drive is recoverable or not. Sparing the details, recovery of this data is very time sensitive. Attempted solutions thus far: 1. I took off the back of my computer to check if the drive was recoverable. Unfortunately I need a SSD adapter for an A1502 MBPr drive to find out, so this is not an immediate solution. I looked into purchasing a connector but everyone I found online won't arrive for at least a couple weeks. I can't wait that long. 2. The company Apple recommends you take your computer to for data recovery wants ~$1000 as an estimate, and the turnaround time is not guaranteed. This is the "standard priority" price, meaning I might spend money that I don't have and not even get the data recovered in time. My thoughts on my next attempt at a solution: I've ordered a new MBPr to replace my old one. It arrives in a couple days. My thought is to take off the back of my new MBP and plug in my old drive. From what I've read Apple hasn't updated their SSD drives since 2013, so my old drive should be compatible with the new MBPr. If the old drive is okay then I should be able to restore my data before the weekend. I'm asking for opinions on this solution. I recognize that this would void my warranty, but it is also my understanding from a friend's friend that works at the Genius Bar that there's no way for Apple to ever know I did this should I need to use my warranty for something in the future. For what it's worth, I would do this with the assistance of a very computer-savvy friend. In particular, I am wondering if anyone can answer the following: 1. Can anyone confirm that my 2013 A1502 MBPr drive is compatible with the current MBPr model? 2. Will opening up my computer and temporarily swapping the hard drives compromise my new MBPr in **any** way? 3. Am I misinformed about Apple being unable to know I opened the back of my new MBPr should something go wrong? Alternative solutions welcome. Please help.

The issue with one charging port was present for quite some time but I was not so concerned because it was working after a couple of attempts and didn’t think it would land on such a serious problem. MacBook was bought in the UK but currently, I am abroad outside the EU. Just wondering, is there any luck in claiming the 2-year limited warranty or under consumer law from Apple? I couldn’t quite figure out what they’re saying here, can someone help me decode the language, please? I have a 14" MacBook Pro with 512GB of internal storage, but I feel like this is not enough for my needs. I recently acquired a broken 14" MacBook Pro with 1TB of internal storage and am considering replacing the 512GB SSD in my MacBook Pro with the 1TB SSD from the broken MacBook Pro. My concern is that doing this will void the warranty or cause Apple to deny me service in the future due to the mismatch between the specification associated with the serial number and the actual storage in the computer. I will not be able to keep the other memory module as I plan on selling the broken MacBook Pro, so I won't be able to switch the 512 GB module back before sending my MacBook in for service. Is it possible to replace the 512GB SSD in my MacBook Pro with the 1TB SSD without voiding the warranty or causing any issues with future service? I asked Apple if they void the warranty for opening my MacBook Pro, and surprisingly they said that they don't. I did not ask them about replacing any parts, worried that they might make a note of that on their account and possibly deny me service in the future since I showed an interest in tinkering with the MacBook.

**Background** - 2017 13" Macbook Pro w/ AppleCare - purchased new in 2017 - had intermittent charging issues - would not see charger and drain rapidly - could never reproduce for Apple to diagnose - late 2020 AppleCare was due to expire and original battery failed and was replaced **Current Issue** Fast forward to now - had the charging issue return and I get this: enter image description here I should get 1000 cycles from this and now: enter image description here Barely a year out and under 100 cycles and it's dead again. Tried these: - Called Apple (surprise - you are SOL) - SMC / VRAM etc. - List item - Battery calibration trick (https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/434969/new-battery-the-batterys-capacity-is-significantly-reduced) - Deleting the power management plists etc. This is MacOS 12.1 BTW. I had planned to continue to use this computer for years - it has lots of RAM and I never have issues with it. When I got the new battery under AppleCare I figured I had a 'new' laptop that would add years to it's life. Now I have a boat anchor I can't sell. The battery is part of the entire top case / keyboard (thanks Apple 🤦‍♂️) and the costs is half the value of the unit now. **Questions** 1. Can you ever guilt Apple to honour a goodwill repair etc? 2. Can you reset this message

Some of the keys get stuck, which was the reason Apple offers a complimentary repair service for affected models. I've known this for a while but I only now got around to taking my MB to a repair store. They informed me that the "quality program" as they call it is only valid for up to 4 years after purchase. Replacing the keyboard now would cost over $600. Are there any options to get apple to pay for the repair once the repair window has closed?

I've had my Mac mini 2018 for just over two years. I am concerned that there has accumulated dust inside of the computer – not because anything seems problematic at the moment, but my experience with MacBook Pro laptops has been that you need to clean them every two years. There is usually a dust coasting landing on top of the Mac mini, so I am suspecting it needs to be cleaned also. If I were to open the Mac mini and attempt to blow it clean with compressed air, would that void any remaining warranty? NB: I believe my product is actually already outside of Apple's limited warranty. However, does Apple not want consumers to open the Mac Mini, so that if something were to break at some time, that an authorized service shop would refuse repair?

I'll get an extra year of warranty since I purchased it on my American Express, but I would like to get something out of what I paid for AppleCare+ rather than pay $200 for a new battery and harass my credit card company into reimbursing me. Any thoughts on what to do? Will Apple give me a new battery if I tell them I'm 1% away?

I keep on getting this Popping/Clicking sound randomly throughout regardless of whether the speaker is on or not. The sound seems to be coming from the physical machine, perhaps the screen or the motherboard-—it is not coming from the speaker. I did the AppleCare warranty, which they simply stated they could not reproduce the said popping/clicking sound. This issue had been posted in the Apple.com discussion, and no solutions. There are people saying Apple monitors the discussion forum and delete those posts. This is frustrating. Does anyone experience this and/or know how to fix this issue? My extended AppleCare ended after they returned the item to me saying they could not reproduce the said problem.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro ordered at Apple Online store. When attempting to check the service and support coverage status, I am presented with a webpage that says that the product’s purchase date can not be validated. I am asked to provide a date of purchase. enter image description here This is a custom configuration and the unit actually got shipped over a couple weeks after originally placing the order. As I understand, this date would be used for 1-year warranty coverage, my question is: What's the valid date of purchase that I should provide here: 1. The date of placing the order? 2. The date of actually receiving the shipment from Apple? I want to make sure that I receive the full 1-year long warranty coverage (as promised by Apple).

I bought an iPad in January 2018 (this was written in July 2018). The coconutBattery app indicates it was manufactured in August 2017. It has gone through 63 charging cycles and the battery health is already down to about 92%. Meanwhile, my iPhone X, which was manufactured in October 2017 and which I started using in November 2017 is still at 100% battery health (in truth, a few mAh above design capacity), despite 138 charging cycles. Such rapid degradation seems out of character. None of my previous iPads (or iPhones, or MacBook Pros, ...) showed anything like this so quickly. If it continues like this, the battery will barely last for 2 years until it reaches the 80% health indicative of end of life. I'm wondering if Apple usually replaces batteries (or the whole unit) in such a situation. Also, is there an "official" (Apple-blessed) way of obtaining the device's battery health? I don't think they will consider info obtained with coconutBattery as valid. I know about the beta Battery Health feature in the Settings app, as it's available on my iPhone, but apparently not for iPads. **UPDATE Jul 22 2019**: the battery is now at 178 cycles at only 80.7% health. Technically it’s a few percent over the 80% limit, but when it drops below 80% I’m calling Apple to see if they’ll offer me a free replacement, seeing as a battery with less than 2 years of usage and less than 200 cycles shouldn’t be nearing its end of life. By the way, sometime near the end of last year, or the start of this year, I started to care for my devices’ batteries in a way that most would describe as OCD-like, after doing some deep research in scientific journals for the main factors that prolong battery lifetime. I’ve rigged a USB connector, sitting between an Apple original iPad charger and an Apple original Lightning cable, with the proper pull-up resistors to charge at 500 mA (seeing as low C-rates are better for the battery). About 90% of the time my iPad is charged exclusively through this, and for most of the rest of the time, at 1 A. Only very rarely do I charge it using a 10 W or 12 W charger, and I may have tested it a few times with USB-PD using an original MacBook Pro USB-C charger and an Apple original USB-C to Lightning cable. Most importantly, I’ve been manually stopping the charge at 60 to 70% most of the time as well (I have let it slip to the 80% to 90% range a few times, and even more rarely, to 100%). This is universally accepted advice to prolong the lifetime of lithium-ion batteries. Like I said, one would be hard pressed to find a person that charged this iPad with as much care as I did, and all the research indicates this iPad’s battery should have easily lasted for thousands of cycles. Yet, this still happened, so I’m pretty sure I have a lemon in my hands. My next step is to try to perform a full charge, followed by a full discharge (all the way until the iPad shuts off on its own) and another full charge, without any partial charges in between, just to see if this is a calibration issue with the battery gas gauge IC. I’ll report back once this is done. **UPDATE Jul 26 2019**: did a full discharge cycle followed by a full recharge cycle. Battery health improved somewhat, to ~84%. There's also a lot of variation. For instance, with the charger connected and at 100% charge (so it's no longer accepting charge), over the course of a few minutes, I've seen the health change from 84.1% to 83.6% and then climb back to 83.9%. I definitely think this battery is somehow defective.
