dm-verity corruption on new Sunshine T2 Elite tablet

I have a Sunshine T2 Elite tablet from Tru Connect purchased new. I try charging and turning it on, and I get dm-verity corruption. I'd tried holding the power button and the volume up button to get fast boot / normal something / and the third something, but they don't do anything, and the device is stuck on "fast boot". Is this device broken? Can it be fixed?
