iPhone Data transfer and backup

I have iCloud paid storage 2tb and I have a new and old iPhone 12, the new iPhone 16 has been used a bit and has photos, how do I make sure everything is transferred and then I want to transfer stuff to my portable Samsung ssd I've tried using iCloud backup on both phones. But I don't know how to confirm if everything is there.
