Can I backup an iPhone’s eSIM to use on another device?

                          An iPhone XR has been replaced with an iPhone 16.

I would like to use only one iPhone at a time with the same eSIM. Is there any reason why this is not possible? At any point in time only one of the two iPhones would be powered on: The other would be powered off.

If it makes any difference: T-Mobile in the US.
