An iPhone XR has been replaced with an iPhone 16. I would like to use only one iPhone at a time with the same eSIM. Is there any reason why this is not possible? At any point in time only one of the two iPhones would be powered on: The other would be powered off. If it makes any difference: T-Mobile in the US.

I'm using an iPhone 14 with iOS 16.5 and two SIM cards. When calling someone from Contacts I can select which line to choose to call him. When dialing a phone number in the Phone app I can also select which line I'd like to use for this call. But when I click on a phone number link, e.g. on a website, I don't see any possibility to switch to another line, so the default line will be used. Is there any way to switch the line when I click on a phone number link?

I'm based in the US, and have an iPhone 14 with dual eSIMs – one of these is my regular US number, and the other is for “Country A” where I frequently travel and find it useful to maintain a number for. Both of these eSIMs are working correctly. I'm considering upgrading to a new iPhone, and wish to transfer both eSIMs. My understanding is that eSIMs have to be activated in their country of origin (i.e. you cannot enable it for the first time when you are roaming). Certainly, my US eSIM was originally set up in the US, and the overseas one in Country A. Does anyone know if this is required to be the case? (If not, the rest of this question may be moot.) Both networks support the eSIM Quick Transfer feature . Apple says: >With eSIM Quick Transfer, you can transfer your phone number from your previous iPhone to your new iPhone without contacting your network provider. Does this also apply when you are currently roaming? Worst case, if there's an issue with the US one, I can contact them and work with them. Should the international one also work? I don't know whether this is more the equivalent of transferring the existing eSIM (analogously to moving a physical SIM between devices), or whether it's more like setting up a “new” eSIM which might require me to be in Country A.

I have an old Galaxy S20 with an eSIM from T-Mobile for a secondary phone that I used to use. Some time ago I bought an iPhone 15 Pro and I have my main eSIM on it. Is it possible to transfer the eSIM from the Galaxy S20 to my iPhone and have dual SIMs on the iPhone?

I believe 2 e-sims can be _active_ and 8 e-sims can be _stored_ (i.e. to include e-sims that are not currently activated on the phone) depending on the iPhone model. Presumably the user would select 2 of these to be the active e-sims. If 8 e-sims could be stored, then I would assume that 2 of those e-sims can be selected as active and the other 6 were inactive. An accepted answer will be one that provides a direct link the apple.com documentation stating if more than 2 e-sims can be _stored_ on the iPhone SE3 but not activated. What should I expect for an iPhone SE 3?

Cannot physically remove deactivated SIM from iPad Air Gen5, can I still use eSIM? iPad is encased in an Xciel case and thus deactivated SIM cannot be removed. Can we still use eSIM? We cannot reactivate the physical SIM.

For internet, I have eSIM, no WiFi. For calls/texts, I have SIM, which has no internet. I want SIM to use WiFi calling using the internet eSIM provides. I tried selecting networks manually to choose something that doesn't get signal, but this usually doesn't work because all options get signal. How can I make this happen?

I have an iPhone XMAX and wonder, how many eSIMs can I store in it? How easy it is to switch between eSIMs? I would like to keep 10 different eSIMs and be able to easily switch between them (but don't need to use them simultaneously).

When traveling, it’s helpful to use a temporary local SIM card to increase coverage and reduce cost. Swapping your *physical* SIM with a new one gives you seamless access to apps that rely on data (e.g. WhatsApp, Messenger) while also giving you 30 days of seamless access to Apple’s services (e.g. iMessages, FaceTime). The latter is only possible because of how Apple treats a new *physical* SIM card: 1. You get a “iMessage and FaceTime Number” notification “### will continue to be registered for iMessage and FaceTime. You can change this in Messages Settings." 2. When you go to the iMessage settings, you see that it has a **30 day counter** and says “This number is registered to your Apple ID, but is not associated with this phone. You can keep using the number for iMessage and FaceTime until it expires.” This is perfect since it means for any trip less than 30 days, you’ll experience zero disruption on Apple's services too while using the local SIM. As of 2018, rather than using a *physical* SIM, [you can now use an eSIM](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212780) , and newer phones *only* allow you to use an eSIM. When attempting to temporarily disable1 my original SIM and enable the local eSIM, I don't see how to get the same 30-day iMessage grace period. Is there a way to disable my original SIM, enable a temporary local eSIM, but still use iMessage/FaceTime with my original number (e.g. for 30 days)? --- 1 I’m disabling the old SIM since it’s the only way to guarantee I don’t accidentally get charged by my carrier if I send/receive a call/text/data on my old number. For example, assume I leave my original SIM on, but set Default Voice Line to the local eSIM. I could still incur charges if someone sends an SMS to my old number, or if I pick up a call sent to my old number.

I have an iPhone 12 mini running iOS 15. It uses an eSIM card. I would like to use that eSIM card on another phone. On the iPhone 12, I sent to Settings -> Cellular -> Remove Cellular Plan. However, when I added the eSIM card via the QR code on the other phone, I get the error message: It sounds like the eSIM card was not 100% removed from my iPhone 12 mini. How can I really remove an eSIM card from my iPhone 12 mini?

I'm wondering if there is a way to turn off the Physical sim and use only the eSim on my iPhone XS Max. I travel a lot and I'm loving the use of eSIM. I understand that I can turn off the eSIM if its required, but I wanted to know if there was any way to turn the Physical Sim off and leave only the eSim ON. Note - I have an unlocked iPhone XS Max.

I live in Italy and i want to buy an iPhone 14 Pro when it comes out, but I don`t know if for the European iPhone models there will be the physical SIM slot as they announced that in the US the iPhone 14 will only have e-SIM.

Dual sim iphone calling primary call from secondary SIM I have a Iphone SE 2 with (Primary - Physical SIM and Secondary - eSIM). When I try calling back the Missed calls/Incoming calls, I'm able to call back only on the same SIM. (i.e., If I'm missing a call in primary phone number, I'm seeing option to call back only from the primary phone number (same SIM). Vice Versa.). I'd want to callback from my primary SIM, for the calls that are missed in secondary SIM. Is this possible?

My son lost his phone, unfortunately, so I am going to order his new one next week. My question is: if I allow him to put a new sim card in my phone what will happen if someone tries to call me on my regular number? He will have a different number on his sim card so I'm not sure if people will be able to leave a voicemail. Will it just keep ringing or what, if anyone knows, will happen until his comes? I thought that ESIM and Digital SIM were the same thing, to be distinguished from a physical SIM. However, my iPhone SE shows that I have an ESIM and a Digital SIM, and they have different IMEI numbers. In the past, I think I remember that this used to show a section for what it called a "Physical SIM" but I think that section was replaced with what now says "Digital SIM". This was after changing SIM cards, carriers, and updating the APN settings.

When adding a card to Apple Pay, it says that your phone number may be shared with the bank who emitted your card. But in the case of a dual SIM phone which number is shared? If you have a personal phone number and another one, can you choose which one will be shared with the bank? Have anyone a personal experience with a dual SIM phone and Apple Pay?

I am using an iPhone 11 pro with an eSIM and a foreign SIM card. Whenever i activate the latter line, the phone sends a silent SMS ro the number, apparently to activate iMessage and Facetime . However, this SMS costs me quite some money as I am “abroad”. Naturally I tried switching off iMessage and Facetime for that number. Unfortunately, the phone keeps sending the silent SMS. Is there way to avoid this? Update: May this also be related to WiFi-Calling?

The XR, XS iPhones feature eSIM capability. Assume that the user lives in the US and uses T-mobile. Does it make sense to use the eSIM with the home carrier or to use it with roaming carriers the Caribbean and EU countries? If I assign the eSIM to T-mobile (USA), can I expect the phone to roam exactly as if it had a conventional SIM card?
