Now in the web page of the vendor from whom I wish to make a purchase, I clicked the Apple Pay option to display a Apple Pay dialog. That dialog shows my credit card info. But it has a red error message at bottom saying "Verify Contact Information". The "Contact" field has red letters "PHONE NUMBER REQUIRED". I have no idea whose phone number it wants, nor what I should do next.

I'd like to switch the payment method of my iCloud+ and Apple Music subscription to Apple Pay. It is currently PayPal. I was under the impression that adding Apple Pay to the top of my list with payment methods would make it switch automatically the next billing. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I also cannot remove the PayPal method: "Unable to Remove. There is an active subscription on this account that requires at least one payment on file." Do I have to cancel the subscriptions first?

When visiting developer.apple.com to renew my Apple Developer Program membership, I see the following error: error message quoted below > There is no credit/debit card on the Apple Online Store associated with your Apple ID to auto-renew your membership. > > Add a credit/debit card to maintain membership benefits and keep your apps available on the App Store. > > Add Card or > The credit/debit card associated with your Apple ID on the Apple Online Store is expired. > > Update your credit/debit card to maintain membership benefits and keep your apps available on the App Store. > > Update Card When I click "Add Card", I am taken to appleid.apple.com. But when I go to edit the Payment & Shipping information, **my details are grayed out and cannot be edited**. "Apple Pay" is possibly selected, and I see no way to add a new Credit Card. How do I add a credit card?

At some point during the macOS Sonoma release, my Apple Pay dialog in Safari began saying "Double-click Touch ID to pay" instead of the usual process of simply touching the Touch ID sensor to approve the payment. Trying to do this would immediately lock and unlock the screen instead of process the payment. If I'm lucky, I might be prompted for my login password instead. How can I make payments with Apple Pay in Safari on my MacBook running Sonoma?

Exactly what information does a merchant get via Apple Pay when paying in person at a point-of-sale device?
Apple's [Apple Pay security and privacy overview](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203027) states (emphasis added): > # When you use Apple Pay in stores > > When you use Apple Pay in stores that accept contactless payments, Apple Pay uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology between your devic...
Apple's [Apple Pay security and privacy overview](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203027) states (emphasis added): > # When you use Apple Pay in stores > > When you use Apple Pay in stores that accept contactless payments, Apple Pay uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology between your device and the payment terminal. NFC is an industry-standard, contactless technology that’s designed to work only across short distances. If your iPhone is on and detects an NFC field, it will present you with your default card. To send your payment information, you must authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode (except when you use Express Mode with a payment or transit card). With Face ID or with Apple Watch, you must double-click the side button when the device is unlocked to activate your default card for payment. > > **After you authenticate your transaction, the Secure Element provides your Device Account Number and a transaction-specific dynamic security code to the store’s point of sale terminal along with additional information needed to complete the transaction.** Again, neither Apple nor your device sends your actual payment card number. Before they approve the payment, your bank, card issuer, or payment network can verify your payment information by checking the dynamic security code to make sure that it’s unique and tied to your device. I'm wondering exactly what information a merchant has access when using Apple Pay in person. The bolded sentence seems to contain the relevant information, but there are two problems: - "additional information needed to complete the transaction" could mean literally anything - This sentence covers what's transferred directly from the watch/phone to the point of sale device, but doesn't preclude other information being sent by Apple's servers or by the bank's servers as part of the protocol Does anyone know - and ideally have a citation for - what this "additional information" is, and whether more information is provided out-of-band? I'm primarily interested in the USA; if any details are country-specific, the USA answer is the one I'm looking for.

I thought adding a card to the wallet app would mean you can just tap with your phone instead of the physical card and it appears identical to the merchant as using the original card. Through further research I learned using Wallet in reality uses Apple Pay which provides a unique Apple Pay number, and possibly other personal information inputted into Wallet. This thread on Apple Forums states Postal Code, Shipping Address might be shared. (see [Does Apple Pay share cardholder name or billing address with apps, websites, or merchants?](https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253453334)) But I can't find this information on Apple's own page about [Apple Pay security and privacy overview](https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT203027) . Instead, they vaguely state: > along with additional information needed to complete the transaction Apple Pay's marketing repeatedly states how it protects your privacy, but it seems it's capable of sharing more information than a simple card tap would (Card number, Cardholder name, and expiry). I'm wondering what else Apply Pay could share potentially share as "additional information". Could phone Number, and Apple ID Email also be shared? Under what circumstances is information shared?

Recently, Apple Pay stopped working on both my iPhone 13 and my Apple Watch Series 6, with multiple cards, at multiple stores. This leads me to believe it's a software (not hardware) issue. The stores' payment terminals had no issue with tap-to-pay using a physical card, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the terminals or payment infrastructure at large. Apple wasn't having any availability issues with Apple Pay when I checked its status page at the time either. Removing and re-adding the cards didn't fix the issues, and neither did a reboot. There were no outstanding updates for either device, and they had last worked for Apple Pay after I had last updated them, so an update hadn't affected its functionality. Is there anything else I can troubleshoot on the software side to try and resolve this before taking it to an authorized repair store for hardware testing? I really don't think it's a hardware issue, given that both devices' Apple Pay stopped working around the same time, and their Pay functionality isn't tied to each other. Apple Support confirmed there was no block on my account, and my card providers confirmed my cards are in good standing.

But I was wondering if there is some technical background for this, or could it be that the phone when enables the NFC takes over the cards due to strong signal, etc?

I have a problem with Apple Pay occasionally. In some situations, Apple Pay does not load. The payment screen is just aborted instantly. Apple Pay on the Web Demo (https://applepaydemo.apple.com) lists the error as: Apple Pay JS:
Payment cancelled by WebKit:

session.oncancel
Payment Request API:
PaymentRequest AbortError: The operation was aborted.
Interestingly enough, when I load up Safari Technology Preview and visit Apple Pay on the Web Demo it works completely fine. No errors. And also when I switch profiles from my administrator profile to my regular profile on MacOS, it works fine. There seems to be something wrong in the original Safari session and I can't figure out the fix for it. I have tried Command + Q which fixes it. But I would like to know if there's a work around to that. I almost always use Private mode in Safari so figuring out a way to not need to Command + Q to fix this issue would be great (since Private does not save info from session to session). Currently on MacOS Monterey Version 12.4, Macbook Air M1 2020, Safari Version 15.5

Looking through the Apple Pay documentation, I see that it is possible to define the shipping contact fields like postal code and locality. I also see that there are callbacks when the shipping address changes so that sales tax and/or shipping methods can be changed. However, I can't find any means of adding a field for collecting VAT, which is required if one is to change the tax rate based on the customer's Vat Number. Does anyone know how to do this, or know that this is *explicitly* not supported?

Since upgrading iOS to 11.2.1, my iPhone has aggressively prompted me to setup Apple Pay. Every time I decline to set it up. Now, there is this persistent badge ("1") on my Settings app, which makes me think there is some kind of iOS update to install, but instead, it is a prompt to setup Apple Pay ("Finish Setting Up Your iPhone"): How can I turn off prompts/notifications/badges asking me to setup Apple Pay? This is not the same as disabling Apple Wallet notifications, as asked and answered at https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/256991/disable-apple-pay-wallet-spam . Disabling Apple Wallet notifications does not disable the Apple Pay spam (specifically, the Settings badge icon). This question is different as it is about Apple Pay and the Settings badge icon (not notifications specifically), and the solution in the purported "duplicate" question does not solve this problem.
