How can I check if an Apple service exchange iPhone is new or refurbished based on its serial number?
I want to make sure that the Apple Service replacement iPhone I am being given is new, not refurbished. Given the serial number, is there any way to tell if an iPhone is new or has been refurbished?

After the release of the new MacBook I checked the trade-in value of my old one. It seemed reasonable, so I ordered the new MacBook to replace it. After trying it out I decided to make the trade-in but discovered that the value of my old MacBook had decreased. I couldn't make it to the store for a few days but when I did the trade-in value had decreased yet again. I told the employee that this seemed unfair — I made the original purchase based on the trade-in value offered, which gave no indication that it was subject to change and, in fact, their trade-in page says that the estimate offered is valid for two weeks after the receipt of the new device. (I also had to type in the serial number of my laptop, so I figured they could easily verify the original offer.) He seemed irritated and got the manager, and the less said about my customer service experience the better. In the end I was told that there was basically nothing that could be done and that they wouldn't honor the original amount. I have no idea how they set the price, but cynically it seems to me like once I made the purchase they — knowing from my serial number that I checked the value a few times — lowered the amount repeatedly over the course of a few weeks. I felt pressured to trade-in for fear of the value falling even lower (one fourth drop since the beginning of the month) Is there a way to dispute or address this monetary negotiation or a process to advocate for me getting a higher payout?

My friend went to an Apple Store today to buy an iPhone. It was a madhouse, with far too little staffing. They were told to stand at a table, wait some indeterminate amount of time, at least a half hour, until a salesperson appears. They departed, *sans* iPhone. I heard Apple used to offer appointments for shopping to avoid that mess. I found this page , but is only for appointments to experience the Apple Vision product. Is there some way like appointments to make the buying experience more pleasant and productive?

I am trying to subscribe to the developer account. But every credit or debit card I try, fails authentication. I have tried 5 payment methods so far. The order says that: > items in the order are not eligible for this payment type. I persist anyway and the authentication fails. #### So, what payment type is valid? I have posted it on Apple discussions.apple.com, but there is no reply yet. I also note that another person had the same issues and there were no reply to his question either. History: - My account used to be based in New Zealand. I moved to Australia some 6 months ago, but could not change the country to Australia, until a subscription had expired a few weeks ago. - I have added PayPal (with Australian debit cards) as a payment method. - I have added an Australian debit card as another payment method. - I wanted to get a company developer account, so I applied for it. - I got the DUN and went to pay. - The error was: “Details don't match.” - They do but I went in and re-entered all the company details again (at D&B). - It will now take at least 7 days to percolate through. - That's just getting too late for my deadline. - So I decided to create a personal developer Account - Now I get told that the: “Items in the order are not eligible for this payment.” - I can't get an Australian Credit card yet (as all my assets are liquid), but I have tried 2 different New Zealand credit cards and a Wise card, they all give the same error. #### I suspect… That the conversion from New Zealand to Australia has munted the account somehow.

I've purchased the iPhone 16 Pro today, with a pickup scheduled for next week. When I got the 14 Pro on launch day two years ago, I was able to trade it in right there at the store. But this time it didn't seem possible, with the order email stating: > Please note that you will not be able to trade in your device in person at the Apple Store. According to some Reddit comments , apparently they don't do in-store trade-ins close to launch, which contradicts my 2022 experience where I was able to do a trade-in on the very first day the 14 Pro came out. But what's the actual policy? Can I still expect to be able to do the trade-in despite what the email says, assuming the store is not too busy at the time? > NB: I'll answer the question myself next week based on personal experience. But some links to official Apple answers on the subject or news articles would be better for a canonical answer.

I am doing in-store pickup but I want to take it back home with me to do the transfer and make sure all my 2FA (two-factor authentication) apps are properly transferred over, etc before I return the old (current) phone back in-store to complete the iPhone upgrade. When we do the mail-in kit, it says we have 14 days, so there is a period where we would have both phones are home, but just wondering if this is possible with in-store pickup also. Do I need to replace the iPhone at the store at pickup to walk away with the new one for the iPhone upgrade program?

I completed an EDU order for a new Mac this morning. The order doesn’t show in my AppleID, but I got the confirmation email from Apple to the email address provided during the order (paid with ApplePay). That address is equal to that of my AppleID. When logging into my account from the Order Status page, I get the “The Apple ID does not match the one associated with the order”. If I then try to look for this order without logging in, and provide that same email address, it shows “The order is already associated to another AppleID”. I spent 3h today on the phone with Apple Support. I believe I’m now acquainted with every advisor from their Greece office (I’m based in Italy), yet they couldn’t help. They bounced me from one department to another, some of them feeling sure the technical support should’ve been able to align the order and the AppleID, others bouncing me back to post-sale since only they could help. In the end, all I got was a “don’t worry, Sir… it will be all right”. That’s the best I could get from them. No one was able to solve this. There are several topics about this on discussions.apple.com but none of the solutions proposed there has any effect. There is no “Add to AppleID” button in my order. Does anyone here have a solution that works?

I'm looking at buying a new iPad (M1 Air version) and I have two options: either from the UAE or one that's imported from the US. The one on the UAE is actually cheaper (special circumstances) and I can get it faster. But I heard there used to be restrictions on UAE hardware, e.g. you can't install FaceTime and maybe other apps, so I would definitely prefer to pay a little more for one that's full-featured (i.e. the US one). My question is: are there still any restrictions on Apple devices bought in the UAE? Or do they work exactly like the ones in the US now? **EDIT**: I respectfully disagree with the close reason as it references an 8-year old question and things may have changed significantly in the meantime. Indeed, I went to the Apple Store today, and the salesman there told me that as long as I setup the iPad for my region (i.e. not UAE) then there'll be absolutely no restrictions at all. I explicitly asked about FaceTime and they said while it would not work in the UAE, it would work elsewhere. Furthermore, while I have read that devices bought in the UAE are not covered by international warranty, the salesman told me exactly the contrary, that they do have global warranty. Now pardon me if I'm skeptical as I've had many salesmen tell me exactly what I wanted to hear in order to close a sale, only to figure out later that wasn't exactly true. So I was looking from updated information from other users with first-hand experience, who have actually bought Apple devices in the UAE recently (say 2022 or 2023), whether the restrictions still exist or not.
