I was recently scanning through my MacBook Air 13 (2017) running macOS Monterey when I noticed a few programs installed on my desktop that I'd never seen before. One was particularly troubling just based on the nefarious-sounding name of ReverseDirectorystore.Shadow 3. I don't recall installing this program along with quite a few others. My Apple ID is also used on a MacBook I gave to my girlfriend so she has access to my Apple ID but I am not sure if she can/would upload programs to my laptop. Can anyone please shed some light on this situation?

Some time earlier this year I started getting my child's screen time requests in the Messages app. This has become really annoying. The whole thing seems half-baked and there are several issues: 1. Each request appears multiple times 2. The request, which goes to both my wife and me, shows up as coming from my child, but the request text says "Mama asked for more time". 3. I send my messages to my laptop as well, and there these messages all show a spinning fan while Messages loads more information, I guess. 4. It really locks up the Messages app. Sometimes it causes the app to crash. "Messages quit unexpectedly." I tried searching for ways to disable this but I didn't find any good answers on the Apple support site. I can't see actual messages from my kid for all these stupid screen time requests. Is there a way to disable this again?

When I downloaded an app from the App Store, the message "This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with XXX" popped up, where XXX is my Apple ID. There are two buttons: "Apple ID Preferences" and "Later". I have chosen the former, entered my Apple ID password, and got on the Apple ID preferences page. However, I don't know what I should change there, and why this message pops up in the first place. Downloading the app worked without problems. I also verified via Finder, that I can access my iCloud drive. What is this message telling me, and what can I do to avoid it in the future?

Problem: After transferring Ventura 13.6.7 system and files from MacBook 16 2019 to iMac 2017, I can't log into my Apple ID like any other, always like in the video. If you create a new user in the transferred system, then everything is ok, he will be able to log in to any Apple ID, but the user is new and my desktop is not there (if it is possible to transfer the desktop of the old user to the new one, write how) What I've done: Safe mode doesn't help (it gives an error when logging in to Apple ID: The operation cannot be completed. Error AASignInErrors -8004), VPN doesn't help, changing the username doesn't help, renaming the folder doesn't help. help, replacing the name of the old user's folder with the new user's folder does not help (the system does not boot), commands in the terminal do not help, changing the name of the root folders for users simply leads to an eternal password loading at login. I need exactly the transferred user with his desktop, if it is possible to somehow transfer it to a new created user so that everything works, I’m waiting for ideas. Video information: https://youtu.be/Il3qWGrsA8E After the transfer, the imac shows that I have already signed in to the Apple ID, but there is no synchronization with iCloud and this PC is not on the iCloud website. If you click sign out of Apple ID and sign in again, it asks for a code, sign in I cannot — there is no error or warning. I click sign in button and the sign in button appears again. If you go to appstore, the situation is similar.

I created an Apple account for a family member using phone number about a month ago. After the whole setup and software updates (now running on iOS 18.1.1), I opened iCloud mail to create an @icloud.com email. It showed iCloud mail is not available for your account. I then opened the browser and signed in to iCloud.com mail, and there also the same error was shown. I then watched some tutorials on Youtube, and went to settings and clicked on the name, went to iCloud to toggle on 'Use iCloud mail on this device', but there was no button like that. Also in list of apps using iCloud there was no Mail app. I have restarted the iPhone and reinstalled the Mail app but nothing helped. In the sign-in and security page there is also no option to create a new email - it only gives an option to add an existing email address. I'm now using a Gmail account as primary mail temporarily but I want to create an @icloud.com email address. Device - iPhone 15

I have set up my child's iPhone using my **icloud.com** apple-id. So we now have: * Child apple id: **child@icloud.com** * Parent apple id: **parent@icloud.com** During the setup I received a code on my MacBook that I had to type in the iPhone. After setup completed I cannot see my child's account in my MacBook's parental controls. So now how can I set time limits, allow apps and so on? One possible reason could be that the apple-id associated with my MacBook was a different one from the apple-id I used to set up the iPhone. The apple-id I used to set up the iPhone was set up as one of the internet accounts on my MacBook. So the MacBook know about two ids: * MacBook apple-id used for appstore: **othermail@example.com** * Parent's other apple-id: **parent@icloud.com** I have tried to fix this by removing the account that was associated with the previous apple-id and removing and then adding the icloud.com address I used to install the child's iPhone. This did not fix the problem. All I want is to be able to manage my child's iPhone, how can I do this from a MacBook? Is that even possible or can the iPhone only be managed from the iPhone itself using the 4 digit screen code I had to set up? Also, is the parent side parental control tied to my apple-id or to my device? And in case of the former, does that mean I can access them (ie manage my child's iPhone) from any device I login and add my iCloud account (**parent@icloud.com**) to?

So at the start of my most recent job, when setting up my work MacBook they suggested I use my personal Apple ID and password. I went ahead and did this even though I felt uneasy (a mistake, I know). I used iMessage a bit on the work device (as I know a lot of employees did), but then felt uneasy and removed my iCloud account from the work device. I resigned recently - laptop was shut down immediately. When I look at my devices on my phone or personal Mac, the work laptop does not show up there. It did recently still show up on the "https://www.icloud.com/find/ " page but I just removed it. Now, I have gotten an email from company IT asking me to provide my Apple ID and password so that they can remove Activation Lock. Does this make any sense - why would they still need it give that I've removed my Apple ID from the device? I should say there were many sketchy things about this company so I obviously do not want to provide this information. They are suggesting that I "reset it to a temporary password that you would feel comfortable giving to me and then change it immediately following our call." Also, more generally, if they're going to do something sketchy and violate my privacy - what can I do to protect myself? I have changed my Apple ID password since the time when I originally used it to set up the work device.

iPhone X running iOS 12.3.2 and locked with a 4 digit passcode. iCloud backup, but has been deleted online as well have I changed the Apple ID password. I know that AES 256 bit encryption cannot be decrypted, and I know about the USB Restricted Mode. The phone was past boot phase and had been unlocked once. However, when I lost it, USB Restricted Mode was enabled. Is it, therefore, impossible to brute force it? Because brute forcing such a weak code would be child’s play. Also, would it be possible for a hacker/police to just physically remove the hard drive from the phone, then insert it into some other machine and proceed to brute force? I know about the FBI case with Apple, but that was a while ago. Maybe things have changed? I know the Israelis forensic team and Greykit can unlock up to iOS 12.3. My version is 12.3.2 Also how does Checkm8 fit into all of this?

I recently reorganised my iCloud Drive files and folders on an unstable internet connection. After decluttering many files and folders, I found out there are two folders that keep reappearing in my Trash folder. They both have the iCloud download icon next to them. No matter how many times I delete them, they come back. So far I have: - Sign in to iCloud web, empty the Trash from iCloud Drive. - Used a command in Terminal to empty the trash. - Sign out of and in my Apple Account on Mac. - Changed my internet DNS to resolve potential issues. And none of them have worked. I'm frustrated.

Family uses a 4th gen Apple TV at home. (The device, not the streaming service that was stupidly given the same name.) I make movie/TV show purchases through the Apple TV using our family Apple ID. I also log in to the iTunes app on my iPhone to check that ID's account balance before making a purchase through the Apple TV hardware - at least I used to when I still could. I periodically add to this balance using gift cards. Despite refusing to enable the 2FA feature for years, somehow it got activated for the account. And it got linked to my spouse's phone number. Apple is really persistent about trying to lock users into this horrible feature, and employs dark patterns in its device interfaces to trick users into enabling it, which is probably what happened to me at some point. So now I cannot even manage the family Apple ID I have been managing for years. I tried to change the 2FA phone number to my own once, but it did not work (due to reasons I can't recall). And even if it's possible to change the phone number, I don't want 2FA at all unless it can accept *either* of our phone numbers for verification. I can't purchase any content or even check the account balance unless my spouse is also beside me, so I can borrow the (incorrectly linked) iPhone. This is incredibly disempowering and frustrating, and has already prevented me from making purchases on several occasions. (I miss the days of DVDs.) Is there a way to either: - Make both phone numbers work for 2FA verification - Disable 2FA for this Apple ID altogether (Note that any proposed solutions should work for both Apple TV purchases and iTunes app login.)
