I'm experiencing an issue on my MacBook Air (macOS 15.1) where I can't log into Messages or FaceTime. Whenever I try, I just get an endless spinning wheel.
I've already tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:
Resetting NVRAM
Changing networks
Logging in and out of iCloud
Force quitting the apps
Restarting my computer.
Has anyone encountered this before or found a solution?

Anyone else having a "call failed" issue with FaceTime
I have a 2020 iMac 27in
3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7
64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB
I just updated to Monterey this morning and now for some reason my FaceTime calls will crash giving me a "call failed" error.
This only seems to happen when I'm using my iMacs built in audio, if I connect airpods, use the 3.5mm or an external monitor with speakers and set it as the default audio output everything works fine.
If I try initiate or switch a call to the iMacs speakers the call fails
I've tried all of the following with no success
PRAM and SMC,
safe mode
killed and restarted coreaudiod
killed and restarted FaceTime
sing out and singed in to FaceTime
disabled all firewalls and VPN's
tried a different wifi network
tried over ethernet
uninstalled "wavelike" and "BlackHole2ch"
I've done a Disk Utility scan from recovery mode
reinstalled macOS from recovery mode
tried logging out and in to FaceTime on all device
I've also reported it to apple
I cannot seem to figure out what the issues is, audio works perfectly everywhere else in the entire system
I just noted as I was preparing this that when I navigate to system information I get the following when highlighting my audio hardware information
"There was an error while gathering this information"

Webcam not working after MacOS update to version 11.2.1
I have a 16 inch MacBook Pro. The webcam on it was working fine before the update. But since the update, when I open FaceTime, it shows I guess what is the first frame, and that's it - there's no video feed from the webcam, just a dark, static image of the first frame: [

I'm using Big Sur (11.4) with Facetime calling turned on. Whenever I get a call through Facetime or to my cellular number, the Mac silences whatever I was doing and puts out an obnoxiously loud ring.
I know I can turn Facetime calls off completely, but that's not what I want. I do want to get call notifications on the computer, I just want them to be silent. Ideally I would like them not to mute my existing sound (music or whatever I'm doing) unless I take the call.
Is there any way to turn off or mute Facetime rings while still receiving notifications?

I have an iPhone XS max (iOS 14.6) and I'm trying to import photos taken during a FaceTime call to my PC running windows 10.
Using the photos app on windows 10, I can import photos and videos fine, and Live Photos taken with the camera will give me a jpeg and mp4. the importing process seems to go through the selected photos fine until it reaches a FaceTime photo, where it will import the still and fail when trying to import the mp4. the import process then terminates, leaving me with whatever photos imported up until that point.
I've tried navigating the phone's storage in file explorer (This PC\Apple iPhone\Internal Storage\DCIM) and manually copying the .mp4, but the copied file ends up 0kb in size despite showing a file size on the original copy.
I don't want to use a cloud service as my upload speed is terrible and it would take much too long.
I can't find any results on Google even remotely similar to my issue, and I couldn't get much help asking on the Apple forums unfortunately.

On calls, we can see each other and I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I've confirmed the settings for the microphone are good and have rebooted the computer, which is running macOS 15.5 (24F74). People can hear me on Zoom, Google Meet with the microphone I hope to use with FaceTime app.
What can I check to get this working?

The echo is heard by the party being called, but not on our end. The microphone is on the logitech camera (C910, and BRIO, both attempted), the speaker is out of the TV. I have attempted to move both, turn down the TV volume, change positioning in the room, etc...
Of course, it is convenient to use Facetime, but actually my mother and father are using this as the seed of a 'let's buy Samsung phones' plan. They hear good things. They switch, I'll likely need to switch.

How do you find your facetime call history on iphone/ipad?
This question is mostly tailored for the iPad. When I got to the facetime app on the ipad, I see a list of people I've called and the **last** time I called them, but I can't find anywhere that shows **all** the calls to a certain person. Does anyone know how I can find this information on the ipad?...

On the iPhone, there is a similar issue if you go to the facetime app. However, if you go to the phone app, it shows the call history, but there is no phone app on the iPad.

MBP 13" 2017, macOS 10.15.7, FaceTime 5.0
After about 10 seconds of trying it pops up the message below:
Restarting my computer *does* fix the problem. However, **even without restarting my computer, other apps are all able to use the camera**. Photobooth, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom all attach to the camera and use it. They all do so simultaneously. But without a reboot FaceTime cannot, even if I quit all those other apps. The problem recurs from time to time, with weeks in between sometimes.
I have an external USB camera, and the laptop lid is closed. In the camera menu for FaceTime AND other apps, the internal camera is greyed out, and only the USB one is available, and selected.
[ Edit ]
In response to comment from @IconDaemon here is the state of Facetime's camera menu when this error occurs. USB Camera is selected and active.
Built in camera is grey (because lid is closed). This is AFTER a reboot. Again, Facetime cannot access camera but ALL OTHER APPs can. Photobooth, Zoom, Teams, Camtasia ... they all work perfectly.

I have an M1 Mac Mini. I have purchased a Logitech C920 webcam/microphone to be able to make FaceTime calls. The microphone works when I use Photobooth or Quicktime to record a video. It also shows up in the sound panel of system preferences with the audio indicator moving up and down as I make noise.
As soon as I make a FaceTime call the microphone stops working. I've checked in the video menu on FaceTime that the right devices are selected but no audio.
I've also tried to create a Aggregate device in the Midi tool as suggested online but that hasn't worked. I've rebooted the machine several times, tried different USB ports but still no luck. It appears to be a specific issue with FaceTime as the other apps I've used have worked great.
I'd really appreciate any kind of suggestions to help resolve the issue.

I can select the different microphones, but during a call, the soundwave indicator is flat and the people on the other end hear silence. Facetime is not switched to "mute".
How do I fix this?

I have tried the basic procedures, like switching on and off related options but this problem persists. I started experiencing this about a month ago and so far I could not find a solution to this problem.
Anyone around here has successfully dealt with this issue?

This message keeps coming back:
"Your carrier may charge for SMS Messages used to activate FaceTime"
I managed to get rid of it before but when I change the SIM card it pops up again.
It's similar to "Your carrier may charge for SMS messages used to activate iMessage", which I got rid of this time but I don't remember how.
How to quickly ensure both these messages don't pop up:
- Your carrier may charge for SMS messages used to activate iMessage
- Your carrier may charge for SMS Messages used to activate FaceTime
Ideally forever, but I'm ok with a quick solution that I can quickly find back here on Ask Different.
Oh and I want to keep Facetime enabled. Not sure about iMessage.

As per the title I'd like some way to type in a phone number to say a widget or something and it to instigate a Facetime call using my iPhone.
Facetime is already all set up to use the phone to make calls and does work fine but the problem I have is that every time I open up the Facetime app and make a call the camera I am using which is connected to my computer (Insta360Link) has it's resolution and rotation reset and I'm using the camera to record into OBS but have to keep resetting the rotation in the Insta360Link application every time which is very annoying.
So I was wondering if anyone knew of a widget or tiny app or maybe a menu bar app which you can just type a phone number into and it starts a phone call using Facetime but without actually opening up the Facetime app?

How is iMessage/FaceTime/iCloud service in China?

It is only possible to make or receive a Facetime video call with an iPhone 11. A pure Facetime audio call is not possible.
The latest software update is installed. Same Apple ID on iPad and iPhone.
**Iphone 11:**
Facetime video call works,
Facetime Audio only does not work (neither incoming nor outgoing)
**Ipad 9:**
Facetime audio and
Facetime video works (incoming and outgoing)
Signed in to Facetime and iMessage on both devices with the same mobile number and Apple ID.
All settings were compared with the devices of another Apple ID in the same household, where everything works as desired.
We do not understand why the iPhone 11 cannot accept or start Facetime audio calls. Facetime with video works incoming and outgoing, but it is not possible to turn off the camera during a Facetime video call because the button is grayed out.
Here is a screenshot where it is impossible to deactivate the camera:
When attempting FaceTime call, the iPhone and the iPad are ringing. When attempting a FaceTime pure audio call to the same AppleID, only the iPad is ringing.
