I installed https://flameshot.org/docs/guide/key-bindings/#macos and want to use that when I take screenshots. I'm using a Logitech USB wireless Windows-style keyboard, so I have a Print Screen key. When I press the Print Screen key, I want Flameshot to take a screenshot. At first, I thought I'd be able to map it within Flameshot > Configuration. When I try, it treats Print Screen as F13. Pressing Print Screen still doesn't seem to take a screenshot, though.

After taking a screenshot in macOS, I bring up the markup dialog _(introduced in macOS Mojave)_ and try to use the highlighter tool, but it seems to do nothing. Am I just using it wrong? In macOS, one can easily get a screen capture by using key combination Command + Shift + 4. But, are there any keyboard shortcuts that can scroll a webpage or any other pages and get the screen capture? I am looking for a keyboard shortcut and not an app or browser extension that needs to be downloaded from the Internet or Mac App Store.

I took a screen shot using Command+5 and apparently tapped "Record Selected Section". That screen shot icon is frozen on my desktop. I have tried opening Terminal and typing: Killall finder Didn't work. Then I did a similar command: Killall Docks That didn't work too. I can't trash it. It's frozen.

I have an iPhone 11 with the latest update and everything. But recently I noticed in my Files, there are several long screenshots from some sites I frequent, specifically comic websites and art websites. Sometimes I tend to press and hold the screen instead of scrolling and I suspect as a result, this has been happening. I don't know how to disable this feature. I tried looking the Accesibility settings but nothing seems to stand out. If I missed something, I'm not sure. Can someone please help me disable this function? I don't want to be accused of stealing people's work and getting banned.

Every month I have to file a report with a state agency through Safari. The website returns a confirmation with a long list that requires scrolling to view from top to bottom. While it is possible to scroll and snap screenshots: Is it possible to issue a single command to snap a screenshot of the entire list: essentially a **scrolling through** and **stitching screenshots together** to return a .jpeg **single screenshot** to ~/Screenshots? I think saw this functionality in a Windows screenshot tool: Hypersnap.

I know I can open the Screenshot tool by pressing cmd + shift + 4. I can drag the mouse around to specify the area I want to take a screenshot of, but I am wondering how I can keep the width and height ratio 1:1 when moving the mouse cursor. In image editing software, the combination is usually to hold shift while dragging. On mac using the screenshot tool, this means to lock one of the axis depending on where you start your drag motion. It locks the width if you start dragging up or down, and locks the height if you start dragging left or right. Pressing alt on the other hand makes the capture area grow in both direction. holding either cmd or ctrl seems to do nothing. I really hope there is a key combination to make the width and height scale the same, but I cannot figure out which key combination to use. **EDIT** My version of macOS is Mojave 10.14.5. And just to clarify, I want to keep the selection area to grow and remain at 1:1 ratio while actually moving the cursor around, similar to this: Alternatively resizing the area in equal proportion to each other, meaning the width and the height changes so that the original aspect ratio is intact. The resulting image itself does not have to be 1:1

By default, screenshot files are saved with names like this: Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 1.07.34 PM.png The date format is great, but the time format annoys me because it doesn't sort automatically. Is there any way to change the format to: Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 13.07.34.png

I want to run oxipng *.png in /Users/user/Desktop/ immediately after a PNG screenshot (Cmd-Shift-3) is created in my Desktop folder. I have the following plist file in ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ :

Then, I run launchctl load ~/Library/LaunchAgents/oxipng.plist. However, the PNG are never modified after creation. ----- How do I make oxipng run after a screenshot is saved to the Desktop folder?

Shift + Command + 5 generally works great for recording the screen, but it doesn't even seem to try keeping up with ProMotion or any above-60 FPS display. According to QuickTime Player, the directly saved .mov encoded FPS is 59.86. I'm trying to precisely scrub through a fast system animation, but I can't find any way to record the screen at that framerate - built-in or with an external app. Of course I could put a high-speed external camera to the screen and just try that, or find an high-tech HDMI capture card (as I use a Mac Mini), but those are kind of awkward solutions for what seems to just be a software lack.

I am trying to screenshot all the pages of a textbook i have online. I am opening the book in safari, all i want is to automate in some way the ability to take a fixed location screenshot at intervals save it to downloads or desktop(wherever) and then have a my cursor click the next page button and retake a screenshot a multitude of times would this be possible in anyway?

Ever since updating to macOS 15.3.2, I have noticed that the floating thumbnail in the bottom right corner of the display was no longer appearing after taking a screenshot. Using Cmd-Shift-5 to access the options, I would notice that the corresponding option "Show Floating Thumbnail" would be unchecked. Initially thinking about an involuntary user error, I would check it. The feature would be back up and running for some time (maximum a couple of hours) and then it would uncheck itself again on its own. I tried to check it, then log out of macOS. Upon logging back in, the option would be unchecked again. What could be causing this? What could I do to solve it? I have already filed a report to Apple via the Feedback Assistant app.

Story going around that in a "secret" Facebook chat, if you take a screenshot, the participants are notified .  I suspect that macOS will not inform Facebook if I use Cmd-Ctrl-Shift-3, especially not if I'm using Safari instead of their stupid app. Is my suspicion correct?

I have a screen capture of my computer screen using QuickTime's Screen Recording feature, but that saves it to an MOV format. I'd like to export it to MP4. Is that possible without installing anything else? I'm using Yosemite, and I'm pretty sure I could do that with Mavericks.

I have been taking screen capture videos in iOS 11 with iPhone 7 and various iPads. For some extended captures, the recording stops and I don't get any file of the session. What is the maximum length of a screen capture video on an iOS device?

In the last few weeks, screen capture stopped working on my MBP. Well, partially. I can still capture to the clipboard with command + control + shift + 4, but if I try to do a standard capture to a file, my Mac plays the screen capture sound but nothing gets saved on my Desktop. I'm running OS X 10.9.2. The issue has survived a reboot. Any suggestions?

I have a working Python script that take screenshots of my single macOS display every minute using screencapture. The script essentially loops os.system(f'screencapture {output}.png'). Every once in a while, the screenshots suddenly start only showing my wallpaper. I know this isn't a screen recording permissions issue for Python, since the script works 99% of the time. Furthermore, once the buggy behavior starts, taking screenshots with screencapture myself on Terminal.app does the same thing. The bug never goes away by itself. The only fix I've found so far is to frustratingly restart my computer. Is there any documentation or fix for this behavior? Edit: To clarify, I am still able to take non-glitched screenshots with keyboard shortcuts like Shift + Command + 3.

I need a screenshot program that will freeze the current content (in my case, a streaming live lecture) and allow me to take a regional screenshot. In other words, once I hit the screencapture shortcut, the streaming content should freeze at the current frame, allowing me to drag and select a region, the screenshot is saved, and then I can repeat as needed. Without this feature, I may start a regional drag on a formula the speaker is showing, but in the meantime the speaker has moved on to another slide and I can't capture the info I need for my notes. The only Mac program I've found that does this freeze before capture is Snapz Pro X. The problem with this program is that the screen capture process is multiple steps and not built for rapid screen captures. The steps include typing the shortcut combo, mouse clicking from a number of available buttons to select the capture mode, moving or resizing the existing regional capture settings, and finally taking the screenshot by hitting return. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to set in the preferences or custom shortcut combo to automatically do a regional snapshot. Also, you also have to start from the last region you took -- so if you need to take a smaller region that is within the boundaries of the prior snap, you have to drag it out of the way first. Are there any programs besides Snapz Pro X that will allow a regional snap that freezes the current screen contents?

I recently updated to Ventura and I lost a feature I didn't realize I depend so much on. Previously when I took a screen shot (typically using ⇧ Shift ⌘ Command 4 ), when I clicked the floating thumbnail it would open the Preview but already in the markup editor. Unfortunately, I am now forced to click the markdown icon every single time which is frustrating; nearly every time I take a screenshot I intend to add some type of annotation. Is there a way to restore this or change the settings? ***Note:** I have noticed that my phone opens in markup each time but I would prefer to use my current device to make the annotations*
