Previously when I took a screen shot (typically using ⇧ Shift ⌘ Command 4 ), when I clicked the floating thumbnail it would open the Preview but already in the markup editor. enter image description here Unfortunately, I am now forced to click the markdown icon every single time which is frustrating; nearly every time I take a screenshot I intend to add some type of annotation. Is there a way to restore this or change the settings? ***Note:** I have noticed that my phone opens in markup each time but I would prefer to use my current device to make the annotations* enter image description here

I want to highlight text on a page in yellow, similar to a highlighter pen. It looks like it should do it, but the highlighter tool is always disabled. Nothing I do seems to enable it. Does this tool work? How can I use it? enter image description here

macOS: 13.0 (22A380) A lot of communicating with my clients depends on annotated screenshots I send them via Email. My workflow goes like this: 1. I press command+alt+shift+4, then I press space and click the window that I want to take a screenshot of. This saves a screenshot of the selected window in my clipboard. 2. I open Mail, create a new message and paste the screenshot I just took 3. I add annotations to the screenshot, like circles around important parts in the screenshots 4. I send the message to my clients. Today I learned these annotations don't make it to my clients if I have selected any other "Image Size" rather than "Actual Size". The annotations also don't show up in my outbox. **Will send the image with annotations:** image size actual size **Will send the image without annotations:** image size large Does anyone else have this problem and maybe even a solution? ...I just found out that if I don't use the clipboard but instead save the screenshots to disk first, it's working fine.

I use the ‘markup’ extension in iOS Photos to ‘black out’ sensitive information in screenshots, occasionally. Unfortunately, this leaves the “revert” button, meaning that said sensitive information is sitting archived in my iCloud Photos indefinitely. I've got the messy solution of texting myself the modified image, deleting the original, deleting it *again* from Recently Deleted Photos, and then re-saving it from the text-message I sent myself … but that's no fun. What's the quickest way to turn a modified photo into a flattened copy of itself?

I'm looking for a screenshot markup/annotation tool that attaches text to the origin of an arrow. Screenshot markup/annotation apps usually allow you to add arrows that point to parts of the shot. They also allow you to add text, commonly to explain the problem. Commonly for me I add an arrow that points to an issue then add some text at the arrow's origin. Often I end up needing to move the text around or because there's not enough room, it ends up on an unreadable background color, etc. When I do so, though, the arrow origin doesn't stick to the text so I'm constantly moving the text, then moving the arrow, then moving the text, then moving the arrow, etc. Do you know of any tools that allow the text box to "stick" to the arrow's origin so I can more easily make changes this way? _(It might sound a bit of a nitpick but when I'm marking things up I can easily add 100 or more such annotations in a few-hour session.)_ --- Edited to add: I realize that I might not have been clear enough. Here's an example using the app Napkin. It's the perfect app for this but it has other issues that make it not usable for me (and hasn't been updated in years): visual example of sticky arrow origins
