Are diagrams of the late 2009 iMac power supply available for modifying my hardware?
I am trying to mod an old iMac 21" late 2009 with an Intel CPU and repurpose it as a monitor. I was hoping to find the PSU pinout, which is a 14 pin one. I am trying to mod an old iMac 21" late 2009 with an Intel CPU and repurpose it as a monitor. I was hoping to find the PSU pinout, which is a 14 pin one. My further goal is to allow the button on the back to turn on the PSU. So far I have identified: 1. GND in pins 01, 08, 07, 14. 2. 3.7V in pin06. 3. 12V in pin04. This is on a turned off PSU, connected to AC. I have to mention here that the pin06 is not connected to the motherboard connector but to the jst4 that is connected to the LCD controller. Here with your help I have found a pin guide: - PSU/logic board pinout voltages Pin12 suggests that it is waiting for a signal from the logic board, possibly the 3.7V on Jst4. I tried connecting the 3.7V via a 1K resistor to pin 12 but nothing happened, voltages across the pinhead remained the same. The momentary switch has a very small resistance about 24ohm. Will I need some additional circuitry, like a transistor, to accomplish the turn on. Is there any other resource for finding how to mod this iMac and use its PSU?

I upgraded my iMac Late 2013 to Catalina. When I login through Anydesk or Chrome Remote Desktop I see my desktop for a split second and then im presented with the lock screen again. While Anydesk is open, I can press 'switch user' in CRD which then shows me my screensaver. Then if I start moving around the screen saver eventually quits and I can use my desktop in CRD, while anydesk still sees the switch user screen (the available users and the sleep/restart/shut down options) After a fresh reboot I was on with CRD & Anydesk. I closed CRD, and I was back to the starting issue where the screen just locks and using CRD at same time I was able to login. Sometime later I ended up with total lockout - neither Anydesk or CRD will connect even though I know the Mac is online running scripts. Two remote connections, same iMac: 2 remote connections, 1 iMac I've also now put in Teamviewer and I have the same issue - as soon as I type my password it locks on me. It sems like something is locking the cursor because with every letter I type the password field loses focus and I have to click again and quickly type the next letter. These are the relevant options I can think of: - Energy Saver: Turn display off after 10 min, prevent auto sleep when display off, put disks to sleep when possible, wake for network, auto start on power failure, enable power nap. - Screen Saver: Start after Never - Amphetamine: Launch at login, start session when launch or waking sleep, indefinite duration, allow display sleep, (no screen saver, no forced sleep). Lock screen after 15 min inactivity, allow display sleep when screen locked.

iMac 27" - Late 2012 Model# A1419 Customer said they had the motherboard previously swapped out at another repair shop. Displays abnormal picture with lines running vertically and horizontally. It will eventually get stuck on a loading screen at what appears to be the half-way mark. Tried resetting NVRAM or PRAM, booting from USB, starting from internet recovery, safe mode, and recovery mode. I have also swapped out the hard drive with another freshly formatted drive and tried to boot from USB to do a fresh install of a new IOS. I swapped out the RAM and got the same issue. It appears to always end up on the final display picture below. I have tried to enter the verbose mode as well, but it appears to either ignore the command and continue to the last display picture posted below. When selecting WIFI in internet recovery the abnormal display will not be present. Noticed a 3rd party power cord that the customer was using and not sure if that would affect anything. I'll post the fix when or if customer decides to get it repaired. UPDATE: Customer has agreed to have motherboard replaced, so if that solves the issue I will return with an update. enter image description here enter image description here enter image description here

After a few seconds, the icon starts bouncing and after minutes, the app launches. After opening and closing the app, it launches quickly. What is the problem? This is the Activity Monitor while opening Word. Also I just found out that when the wifi is off every thing is ok and apps run fast.

I have a 27" iMac with 2.5K built-in display resolution. Also i may replace it with a 5K/retina one. The problem is mirroring it's display without changing my mac's resolution other than it's native resolution. When I use a Thunderbolt to HDMI converter and an HDMI cable, my mac forces me to use lowest resolution between itself and my tv (1920x1080/2K). So it prefers the tv's resolution and my mac switches it's built-in display resolution to 2K and this is not what I want. So, I think about Apple TV and AirPlay mirroring. My question is: **Is it possible to mirror my mac's high resolution built-in display to a low resolution (2K) tv through Apple TV without changing the mac's resolution?** If it's possible, naturally higher resolution image will be scaled down/transcoded to a lower resolution image. Texts and details on original image will be corrupted/blurred but it's ok, I don't expect/need a super clear image on the tv. So, will Apple TV do the job, can it transcode original high resolution image to fullscreen 2K image for my tv?

This only seems to happen when I'm using my iMacs built in audio, if I connect airpods, use the 3.5mm or an external monitor with speakers and set it as the default audio output everything works fine. If I try initiate or switch a call to the iMacs speakers the call fails I've tried all of the following with no success PRAM and SMC, safe mode killed and restarted coreaudiod killed and restarted FaceTime sing out and singed in to FaceTime disabled all firewalls and VPN's tried a different wifi network tried over ethernet uninstalled "wavelike" and "BlackHole2ch" I've done a Disk Utility scan from recovery mode reinstalled macOS from recovery mode tried logging out and in to FaceTime on all device I've also reported it to apple I cannot seem to figure out what the issues is, audio works perfectly everywhere else in the entire system I just noted as I was preparing this that when I navigate to system information I get the following when highlighting my audio hardware information "There was an error while gathering this information"

My iMac 2020 reboots when 2nd monitor is connected via USB-c. I've been through apple support so many times! I gave my iMac to Apple Genius etc. Nobody at Apple is willing to admit that iMac has a malfunction. I've been struggling with it for over 8 months and I know for a fact that it reboots only when I connect any 2nd monitor! Apple thinks I should go to the monitor's manufacturer or to Adobe (since I use Photoshop). I know that this monitor works great with other computers and it's not the only monitor I tried with my iMac. But only my iMac reboots. So support essentially is useless for me and I have to deal with it by myself. So I wonder is there any other way I can use a second monitor apart from connecting it via USB-c? Is it possible to use a Bluetooth dongle to my second monitor? Are there any other ways? I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, late 2014). A while back the fusion drive died and I split them and used the SSD for the OS and an external 2TB SSD for storage. The only issue I have had with the computer from this until now, is that it did not want to go to sleep. It also sounded like the HD kept spinning. As of today the iMac keeps crashing and rebooting. When it's back up it warns that it can't read a connected drive. Diskutil overview: Image I believe ST3000DM001 is the culprit. I can't dismount nor format it. Crash log: https://gist.github.com/sxaman/39a3edf7b8597460fbb278570d473e2e Is it reasonable to think the old HDD is making my iMac crash? If so, would a working fix be to remove power and data cable from the HDD? (I hope that is possible without interfering with the internal SSD.) Or is there a less intrusive way (without having to take the iMac apart), where I can disable the old HDD completely? Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.

How do I make my external Thunderbolt 27" display's brightness match my iMac's brightness?
I'm running my 27" iMac with a 27" Thunderbolt display, and I'm having trouble getting their brightnesses to match. It seems like checking "Automatically adjust brightness" on both causes different results. What's the best way to get these two displays to always have the same brightness?

I replaced the power supply and started it again, 3 LEDs were on (first 3 from bottom, I hadn’t connected the display) the iMac chime played but then I was unable to turn it off via the power button, so I pulled the plug. I have a 27" Late 2013 iMac with 8GB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M (2GB) GPU. Last year my iMac started crashing now and then. Not only that, when it's in sleep mode it just falls out. I have to pull the wire out and in again and then it works again. Very annoying. I brought it back to the store and they did a hardware check, nothing was wrong apparently. They looked into the logs and saw that before my iMac crashed the 'Steam -app' was mentioned. So they suggested that I have to reinstall the iMac. Weird I know. So I asked a friend to do that for me since I'm too afraid to make a mistake. So the iMac was clean and yet again after a few hours it crashed. I downloaded software to see if the fans were working right or the temperature was too high. Again no problems. I used the console to get the CPU to work 100% to see if it would crash. *Nope*. So I thought maybe it was the power supply and I tried a different cable. *Nope* I looked into the log again and now I see that the last crash was because of **com.apple.dictionaryServiceHelper**?? I uploaded a screenshot of this: (log+About This Mac) I'm no iMac expert at all so I just don't know what to do anymore. **How can I continue troubleshooting this?**

Long story short: - I have a good working iMac 2015 5K that I wanted to sell. - I cannot do an automated factory reset on this device, so I had to go through steps. - I accidentally wiped a wrong disk, at least I think I did. - After wiping I get the folder/question mark at startup. - I restart with COMMAND + R - To get a Wi-Fi list to choose from, I connect and download certain recourses. - It reboots in a menu where you can go back to OS X (El Capitan). But when it asks on which disk I want to install, there is nothing. I cannot continue. - I did the first aid on all 3 given disks (HDD / SD and recovery) and it showed green, no faults. What should I do? Apple wanted to ship me off to a dealer, which costs me money. I know I did something 'wrong' but I need to get an OS back on my iMac. Any help is much appreciated.

Error AASignInErrors -8004), VPN doesn't help, changing the username doesn't help, renaming the folder doesn't help. help, replacing the name of the old user's folder with the new user's folder does not help (the system does not boot), commands in the terminal do not help, changing the name of the root folders for users simply leads to an eternal password loading at login. I need exactly the transferred user with his desktop, if it is possible to somehow transfer it to a new created user so that everything works, I’m waiting for ideas. Video information: https://youtu.be/Il3qWGrsA8E After the transfer, the imac shows that I have already signed in to the Apple ID, but there is no synchronization with iCloud and this PC is not on the iCloud website. If you go to appstore, the situation is similar.

My friend's iMac would not boot. I ran TechTool Protogo using a thumb drive with TTP 9 to test the hard drive. It reported several hundred failed sectors on the drive, so I recommended we replace it. Before replacing the hard drive in the iMac, I booted off an old hard drive from an old laptop using a USB to SATA adapter to make sure the iMac would boot off another drive, in other words, I wanted to make sure the problem was in fact the hard drive. It booted fine, although I could not access the damaged internal drive as it was encrypted with FileVault. I went ahead and completed the hard drive replacement, putting in an SSD and connecting the damaged internal to my USB to SATA adapter. I expected I could get the password for the old hard drive later to copy any data I could save from it. I used internet recovery to install the original OS that came on the iMac to the new SSD, and then upgraded to High Sierra, which is what my friend originally had on it. The iMac now boots fine. The problem I have is the former internal drive will not mount using the USB to SATA adapter, rather the iMac reports it is unreadable. I also used the adapter to try and mount the hard drive on a MacBook Pro, but got the same warning, Is there something related to FileVault that would prevent this drive from working outside the iMac? I had researched this earlier, and thought I was okay. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. 1. iMac Model: 21.5-inch, Late 2013 2. OS installed on failed disk... High Sierra 3. OS installed on new SSD ... High Sierra 4. OS installed on MacBook Pro ... Mojave I did find a thread on here with a similar problem and tried fixing it with GPT commands in terminal. I wonder if I have made it worse... Please help me. I really wanted to help my friend and though I got her iMac up and running, I really, really want to help her get files back. ------- Additional Information ------- The drive is a HGST SATA drive, model 5K1000-1000. The USB to SATA adapter is the CablesToGo #3050. @benwiggy, When I booted from the laptop HDD, the iMac started up fine. A window appeared and I believe it said the internal drive was encrypted and asked for its password. I simply ignored it assuming I could access it later as an external drive and get the same prompt. When I tried to access it as an external drive, it said it was not readable and offered me the option to ignore, eject, or initialize. I chose ignore. **Terminal Commands and the results:** Bobs-MBP:~ bob$ sudo gpt -r show disk2 start size index contents 0 1 PMBR 1 1 Pri GPT header 2 4 Pri GPT table 6 244190635 244190641 4 Sec GPT table 244190645 1 Sec GPT header Bobs-MBP:~ bob$ diskutil list /dev/disk2 (external, physical): #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER 0: GUID_partition_scheme *1.0 TB disk2

Need a bulletproof tool to do full drive/bare-metal-restore backup of Intel iMac with Bootcamp partition. TwoCanoes comes to mind but lack of documentation on how-to scenarios (or at least I couldn't find any) make me wary. The Windows partition contains a ton of LOB apps that are no longer available for re-install/activation (legacy/unsupported) so failure is not an option situation. Windows is finicky about Office and others being on a new drive - licenses matched to hardware ID's. Are these cloned in the restore? Bonus question: what format should the removable SSD drive for the backup be, APFS, exFAT? Advice?
