I have a MX Keys keyboard, connected via bluetooth, and recently, the media keys just don't work anymore. If I use something like BeardedSpice, it does, but I don't get why it doesn't work without it as well... Volume keys work fine though, just the play, next and previous aren't working (on any player). I don't know what could possibly cause this. Any ideas? EDIT: best guess is some app is "stealing" the key presses, not sure how to find out if that's true and if so, which app. EDIT 2: tested in another user and it works. Also did reset SMC et al. My best guess still is that something is stealing the keypresses, no idea what nor how to find out. EDIT 3: the macbook's physical keyboard also do not work. EDIT 4: it seem to have stopped working when I briefly migrated from apple music to spotify. Media keys didn't work on spotify, so I assumed it was a spotify issue, and started using bearded spice. Recently I migrated back to apple music and media keys don't work anywhere. I already uninstalled both bearded spice and spotify. I also looked for "leftovers" from those two apps using fd -i bearded and fd -i spotify and didn't find anything. There are also no processes from either running. EDIT 5: I don't have any media extensions on chrome and already disabled the media key handling by going to chrome://flags/#hardware-media-key-handling.

Bose QuietComfort 35 Bluetooth Headphones crackling/choppy when connected to Mac?
QC35's are linked to both my iPhone and my Mac but when I connect the headphones to my Mac (without pairing to my iPhone) the sound is choppy (brief & frequent loss in audio). Sometimes pairing my iPhone fixes the problem but not always. What can I do?

When I turn bluetooth off and on again on the Macbook, the ear-buds do not reconnect automatically, but when I just put the ear-buds in its case, so they turn off and I take them out again, they reconnect automatically. When I get home and take the ear-buds out they still do reconnect, but when I take them out on the next morning, they don't. It seems like there is an timeout or something for "lost Bluetooth connections". I already tried this command: sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist DontPageAudioDevices 1 Like I described it works, when I turn Bluetooth off and on again, but not when I only turn the ear-buds off.

I use a Bluetooth keyboard that can connect to multiple devices and it is pretty decent, but its auto-sleep (power saving) function drives me crazy, especially when I'm on a call and stop typing for a few minutes, then when I have to type in a question or answer, the first characters get lost (I can't win any group quizzes unless I keep pressing keys on my keyboard to keep it awake :-P). It is very annoying having to press a few keys and wait a few seconds before I start typing, whenever I stay 5 minutes without touching any key (eg. reading, calls, etc.). On Windows, we have a setting to prevent a Bluetooth device from entering sleep mode, but I couldn't find anything similar for macOS. * Is there a way to prevent such devices from sleeping (entering standby mode) on a Mac? Currently on an Intel-based Macbook Pro, running Ventura 13.2.1, using a JOYACCESS JA-KB07 low-profile Bluetooth keyboard. **Edit:** I contacted the JoyAccess support and they weren't helpful. It seems there are issues to understand the issue and questions in English and I don't speak Chinese to properly communicate with them. They just gave me some unrelated model manual with instructions on how to pair the keyboard with a computer and mouse. * The Windows setting prevents the computer from turning off the device to save power but doesn't prevent the device itself from entering power-saving mode.

I tried it on my MacBook as well, and it doesn't work. However, on my girlfriend’s MacBook it does work. It seems to be an OS issue, as I am running macOS Monterey on the Mac mini and my MacBook, and she is running macOS Catalina. I don't really want to downgrade my OS. Are there any solutions that might work?

I have a pair of beats solo3 wireless headphones that used to work. 1) They still work when wired. 2) When connected to my phone over bluetooth, I can see the iPhone volume indicators change on the iphone when I press the volume buttons on the headphones. So it's definitely connected to bluetooth. 3) I tried resetting by holding power button and volume down button for 10 seconds. It didn't help. 4) Tried getting it to work with Apple Watch and iMac but it doesn't work with them. 5) I no longer get chime that I used to hear when the headphones are first turned on. 6) After fiddling with it some more, I was able to briefly get some sound out of one side at a very low volume. Then I got sound out of the other for about 5 seconds and then it cut out completely. So they are still not working but there seems to be a glimmer of hope. 7) After sticking the wired cable into the jack on the left can about halfway in while they were connected to bluetooth, I was able to restore sound do the right can. Still no sound out of left can. Very weird. Any other ideas or are these things toast?

My iMac 2020 reboots when 2nd monitor is connected via USB-c. I've been through apple support so many times! I gave my iMac to Apple Genius etc. Nobody at Apple is willing to admit that iMac has a malfunction. I've been struggling with it for over 8 months and I know for a fact that it reboots only when I connect any 2nd monitor! Apple thinks I should go to the monitor's manufacturer or to Adobe (since I use Photoshop). I know that this monitor works great with other computers and it's not the only monitor I tried with my iMac. But only my iMac reboots. So support essentially is useless for me and I have to deal with it by myself. So I wonder is there any other way I can use a second monitor apart from connecting it via USB-c? Is it possible to use a Bluetooth dongle to my second monitor? Are there any other ways? The friend who sold it to me gave me their keyboard too but I can’t connect it because there’s no Bluetooth button anywhere. I’m on the first screen when you get a Mac, there’s a message that says I need to connect to WiFi and then there’s the Apple logo. When you click it three options appear: Startup Disk, Restart and Shut down, no Bluetooth button. Any help appreciated.

For some reason, when driving focus is enabled, and Siri is connected to my car’s Bluetooth, Siri is not audible. For the longest time I thought that driving focus was busted entirely because the screen would light up, the Siri animation would flash for a while, but would not do anything. I eventually figured out that it was responding, asking for a follow up yes or no or the like, but since I wasn’t giving it a confirmation, it would just time out. Volume on maps, Waze, music is fine, just Siri. Pressing volume up on either the car or the iPhone does nothing while Siri is speaking. If I put in earbuds, then I can now hear Siri talk, and everything seems to work… But how do I get the volume on Siri to work with my car’s Bluetooth? It is a 10-year-old Toyota, no CarPlay, fairly dumb audio on the car (‘press talk button and say yes to confirm”)

I have a Macbook Pro 15" 2017 and it keeps dropping and restoring Bluetooth connection when a mouse is connected to it. It never happens when only the keyboard is connected happens every several minutes or so when only the mouse is connected and happens like every minute when the keyboard and the mouse are both connected. When this reconnection occurs, both devices are reconnected, not only the mouse. Actually, if the mouse IS connected, but not used, this doesn't happen. Here are the logs from Bluetooth Explorer (I don't know what might be relevant and what not):

I have already tried this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251251648 Both file deletion and device removal. And of course, NVRAM PRAM reset. Don't really know what else can I do. I have an Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID (Lightning port model) that I'm trying to reset. I've disconnected and forgotten the keyboard from my Mac's Bluetooth settings multiple times, but when I reconnect it, I'm never prompted to set up a new Touch ID profile. This suggests that the Touch ID data bound to this keyboard hasn't been reset to factory settings. How can I completely reset the Touch ID functionality on this keyboard so that it prompts me to register new fingerprints when I pair it again?

In order to remove another audio device from my Mac, I deleted the HAL folder from Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/ (This is the advice I got from a quick google search, I don't understand the mechanics of it at all) It removed the device I wanted to remove but now my Galaxy buds are not working. They connect to the bluetooth successfully for a few seconds and then disconnect automatically. Even when they are connected, the headphones do not show up in the list of Output devices. If someone has any solutions, please help me out.

In the past, I was able to connect my MacBook to the JBL (but maybe it was another JBL, I am not sure), but now I am not able to, because it disconnects 5 seconds (or so) after the Bluetooth connection has been established. I already tried the procedure suggested in this answer , but nothing changed. Of course, I also tried to turn on and then off the Bluetooth, remove the device and search for it again, but nothing really worked (i.e. it finds the device again and connects, but then automatically disconnects it). So, any ideas? I am on a Mac OS Catalina (10.15.7). Btw, I am able to connect my Samsung Galaxy to the JBL. Also, previously, I was able to use the JBL speakers with a cable, but that cable broke (apparently), so I can't use it anymore, so I guess the problem is related to the Bluetooth.

How many Bluetooth/BLE devices can pair with one iPad?
Is there a limit to how many Bluetooth/BLE devices can be paired with one iPad? What is the limit? I’m aware there is a limit of 7 active connections in BLE 5.0. I’m curious if there is a limit to the pairing in iOS/iPadOS.

I am a new MacBook user, bought MacBook Air M1 about 10 months ago. At first everything was great, bluetooth connection was working fine. But since a couple of months, I began to face bluetooth connectivity issues. I'm not sure whether it is due to the upgrade from BigSur to Monterey. **Specs:** 1. Model: MacBook Air (M1, 2020) 2. OS: macOS Monterey 12.4 3. Memory: 8GB 4. SSD: 256GB **Issue:** I have two bluetooth devices - 1. JBL Live 300TWS earbuds 2. MIVI Roam 2 speaker. Previously both of them used to work perfectly fine. But now, they disconnect immediately after 1-2 seconds of connecting. I can even hear "Paired" sound from my speaker but gets disconnected immediately. Keep in mind that I'm NOT trying to connect both at a time. At first I thought there was an issue with my devices, but after testing with couple of Android phones, I'm sure the issue is with the MacBook. **Things tried:** 1. Turn Off/On Bluetooth in MacBook, Turn Off/On my bluetooth device 2. Forget all devices in MacBook and connecting them again 3. Deleted ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Bluetooth.XXXXX-XXXX-XXX-XXXX.plist 4. Deleted /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist 5. sudo pkill bluetoothd 6. Force quit bluetoothd from Activity Monitor 7. Force quit coreaudiod from Activity Monitor (saw this somewhere) 8. Turn off Wifi I even restarted the MacBook after every step but still wont work. I'm out of almost all the options and only thing I have now is to try downgrading to BigSur but the process is too hard for me and I don't have any previous backup. Are there any other ways to fix this? What do I do?
