In the past, I was able to connect my MacBook to the JBL (but maybe it was another JBL, I am not sure), but now I am not able to, because it disconnects 5 seconds (or so) after the Bluetooth connection has been established.
I already tried the procedure suggested in this answer , but nothing changed. Of course, I also tried to turn on and then off the Bluetooth, remove the device and search for it again, but nothing really worked (i.e. it finds the device again and connects, but then automatically disconnects it). So, any ideas? I am on a Mac OS Catalina (10.15.7).
Btw, I am able to connect my Samsung Galaxy to the JBL. Also, previously, I was able to use the JBL speakers with a cable, but that cable broke (apparently), so I can't use it anymore, so I guess the problem is related to the Bluetooth.

Is there any way to control my built-in MacBook Pro Speakers with the keyboard sound controls (F10, F11, F12) while using an alternate device for sound output? I am using HDMI/DisplayPort speakers for sound output while using my built-in MacBook Pro Speakers specifically for Zoom (you can specify the output speakers in Zoom's preferences) and would like to adjust the built-in speaker's volume with the keyboard.
I've played around with eqMac and have looked at alternates like SoundFlower but haven't found a solution.

MacBook Pro Mid 2012 readily connects to all my modern Bluetooth devices except it doesn't see my new Sony SRS XB43 speaker.
I turn off any devices that my MBP tries to connect to so only the Sony speaker is available with its Bluetooth light blinking to indicate attempting to pair, but it has never shown up on the MBP Bluetooth list.
The speaker readily connects to my iPhone 6 Plus.

Is there a way to manually enter the device address of the speaker to my MBP? I have restarted MBP, debug Bluetooth on MBP to reset module, restarted again, turned speaker off and on etc. Is the MBP so old now it cant see modern Bluetooth devices? What can I do?

I changed the devices to Macbook Air Speakers and a bluetooth speaker. The audio still only outputs to the first device in the list.
How can I force Multi-Output Device to output to all the devices?
I have reordered the list, tried various combinations of devices, toggled Drift Correction.

**In Short:**
I have not been able to find a reliable solution to use external speakers + media key volume control on macOS Catalina.
Is there any good / known solution for this?
**Long Story:**
I haven been using macOS 10.14 on my Mac Mini 2018 without any problems. An external display including speakers is connected via HDMI.
Choosing the display as output device in the system preferences "Sound" is now problem. Sound is than played using the display speakers. However, **I was not able control the volume using the media keys on the keyboard** which is quite annoying.
To solve this problem I have been using SoundFlower + SoundFlowerBed which worked fine.
Last week I have updated to **macOS 10.15.3 Catalina**. At first everything worked fine as well but soon I notices that every now and than sound stopped working. The only solution to get sound back was to restart the Mac.
Since SoundFlower is not developed anymore I found other questions / threads which recommend Blackhole as replacement. However, I was able to get sound back using Blackhole. Especially controlling volume using the media keys seems not to be included.
After some more search I found SoundControl which seems to work most of the time + allows controlling the volume using the media keys. However, media key controls also stops every now and then... It would be OK to pay the full version for $15 (however it is quite annoying that macOS does not provide a solution it self...) but of course only if this solution works all the time.
**How to solve this?**

My late 2020 M1 MacBook Air has picked up a new quirk: audio from both the left and right channel is only coming out of the left side speaker. What's odd about it is that if I play a "stereo test" video, or if I play white noise and slide the Sound Settings balance slider between left and right, then the timbre of the sound changes slightly (but it keeps coming out of the left speaker).
(What I would expect to happen with a failed right speaker is _no_ sound from the right channel, not "right channel comes out the left side"!)
The two main ways I've been testing it are
* play music or white noise, slide balance slider back and forth in Sound Settings
* use the "test" buttons on each channel in Audio MIDI Setup
I've used an (imprecise) decibel meter app on my iPhone to make sure that I am not hallucinating. Sound pressure is highest on the left side and falls off consistently as I move away from there, including over the right side speaker. With stereo white noise, there's a ~15dB difference between directly over the left side of my laptop and the right side.
Things I have tried that did not fix it:
* removing all third-party audio drivers (Zoom, Krisp, etc)
* upgrading from Monterey to Ventura
* booting into safe mode to test (but there's no audio in safe mode!)
* creating a new user and testing audio
* double-checking Accessibility settings, in case I flubbed something when setting up accessibility settings for my Airpods
I haven't popped the back off yet, although honestly other than checking connectors I'm not sure what I'll do when I _do_ pop it open, because I can't come up with any explanation for both channels coming out of the left speaker, or about the timbre change. I've got all the tiny screwdrivers and spudgers I'd need, though, and I'm comfortable poking around a little.
I've had a hard time putting my finger on what exactly the timbre change is. White noise played through the right channel (still coming out the left side!) feels more distant, which _might_ be that it's just a little quieter, or it might be that it's got less low end, I can't quite tell. But it's definitely different, and panning that white noise from left to right is a linear change, there's no "sweet spot" at centre or anything so I don't think it's a phase issue or something weird like that.
Unfortunately I don't know when it began. I think it was recent, because when I noticed it, it was not subtle. Headphones, both wired and Bluetooth, work fine. I did recently buy and connect a pair of Airpods Pro (2nd gen) but I can't imagine how that would impact anything.
It is no longer under warranty or AppleCare.
Anybody have any idea what might be going on, or what I should try, either when I open it up or in software?

My MacBook Pro (13" 2020) started to crash intermittently on left speaker usage after installing macOS Sequoia. The panic log typically shows this error:

The panic references both the audio-tas5770L-spkr-woofer-l
and audio-tas5770L-spkr-tweeter-l
components.
The issue is inconsistent—it doesn't crash every time I use the left speaker, and the behavior isn't fully reproducible. For instance, it sometimes crashes when playing music on Spotify or watching YouTube, but only occasionally, and often when there’s a system sound (e.g., deleting a file or changing the volume). Sometimes, it crashes at the start of a video or music playback, but adjusting the volume alone may work fine.
**Steps I Tried (Did Not Resolve the Issue)**
- Updated to the latest macOS Sequoia version (15.1)
- Ran Apple Diagnostics (no issues found)
- Performed a standard reset (Transfer or Reset > Erase All Content and Settings)

Safari can only play the sound to the headphone not speaker. Both iTune and VLC have an option to choose audio output device, but browsers do not have this option.
The Chrome help document says I need to "**Cast to a device**", but unfortunately I didn't see that option on mac (I have tried two macbooks)

I recently connected my AirPods to my Apple TV, which worked great. However, I cannot seem to disconnect my AirPods, and I can now not hear any audio output from my TV speakers themselves.
(Refer to Image) If you look at the audio output section, you’ll see that I’ve already attempted to switch back to my TV speakers, but I cannot hear audio from my TV. On an added note, the bottom left corner says that there is an ‘audio system’ connected to the TV. However, I have already disconnected all devices from bluetooth.
I have tried all the usual fixes like restarting and even resetting my Apple TV. Has anybody else experienced the same issue?

Worked great for 9 days, then…pffft! No Sound.
- Another 90 min phone session with AS yesterday… Erased HD
- Re-installed Big Sur… Still no joy.
- Tried several of the suggested solutions in the "Restarting Sound Service?" thread
( https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/16842/restarting-sound-service/121342#121342 )
No go.
Last note: I'm a musician. Default DAW: Logic Pro
All software duly purchased or licensed...
3rd party software: Native instruments Komplete 8 (use only some of it),
Sibelius
I suspect possible culprit(s) Native Instruments… ??
Any ideas where to look?
