I've been trying to record some system audio from my computer while screen capturing in Quicktime Player. The thing is, I've done this before. I've recorded myself talking and the system audio through an aggregate device in Soundflower. I was also able to hear the system audio by using a multi-output device as my output. For clarification, here are screenshots of the setups I've tried. This is the first one I tried, because it's what I remembered from what I did before. With this setup, I was able to hear the sound from my computer, but could not adjust the volume, and when I tried, instead of the usual popup showing the changing volume, I got this: When I tried recording audio using Quicktime Player, it picked up the sound from my microphone, but no system audio. When this setup didn't work, I searched for an answer on google. Every single tutorial I saw said to set Soundflower (2ch) as both my input and output. (Some said only to set it as output, but then later chose it as the input for Quicktime Player). I tried that like so: With this setup, I could not hear any sound from my computer. However, I could adjust the volume on my computer, not that it seemed to do anything. I tried recording with Quicktime Player, but it didn't record either the volume from my microphone or the system audio. I would like to have a setup that only records my system audio, and one that records both my mic and system audio. Optimally, I'd be able to hear the system audio in both cases. I checked to make sure that the audio wasn't just really quiet, and I did all the basic things like restarting my computer. So, what should I do? I'd be happy to provide any more details if necessary. EDIT: An update. I noticed that with the second setup, I was able to hear Skype calls (people talking, not just the ringing), despite not being able to hear anything else. Also, people on Skype were able to hear me with the first setup, but not the second. In neither case could they hear the system audio. Not sure if this is useful information or not, I just wanted to be as detailed as possible.

There is a website titled "Signed Version for macOS Big Sur (11.1) and earlier" with a link which causes the file Soundflower-2.0b2.dmg to be downloaded. This file contains the Soundflower.pkg package which the Installer application can use to install the Soundflower kernel extension. The website has the following instructions. >**M1 chip-based Macs are NOT YET SUPPORTED** > >**PLEASE READ BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO INTALL!** > >Note that the even though this Soundflower extension is signed, but the installer is not! You will have to hold the control key down to open the Soundflower.pkg installer for the first time. > >Apple makes you jump through a few hoops. The first time you run the installer (Soundflower.pkg), it will ask for your admin password, and will FAIL! A security alert will appear, with a button to take you to System Preferences "Security & Privacy - General" pane. Once there, there should be an "Allow" button (**) that you will need to click on to give permission to use Soundflower (developer: MATT INGALLS). Then, RUN THE INSTALLER AGAIN. It should inform you installation was successful. If the "Allow" button is disabled, you may need to click the lock icon in the bottom lower left corner first. > >(**) If you see an "Open Anyway" button in the Security Preferences, this is something different!!! Most likely because you tried (and failed) opening the installer by double clicking without holding down the control key. If so, click the "Open Anyway" button which will display another window. Then click the "Open" button in that window to launch the installer. Now you can follow the instructions above to get the "Allow" button to appear in the Security Preferences. I have Intel Macs with either Big Sur or Monterey installed. When I follow the above instructions, all executions of the installer fail. Yet after restarting my Mac, the Soundflower kernel extension appears to have installed. I have the following two questions. - Why does the installer fail on all attempts? - Did Soundflower kernel extension actually install correctly?

I uninstalled Soundflowerbed, reset using: - command + alt + P + R, and - shift + ctrl + alt but, still the sound does not work. The Sound devices view look like this: Image and, the input devices: Image --- What can I do to get the sound back? I did the hardware tests (pressing D while booting), and there are no issues. Also, I am pretty sure it is not a hardware issue. Is there a way to reinstall the sound drivers or something like that? --- I did a fresh install, reinstalling the whole system and the sound worked for one day, and now I have the same issue...

So I'm running soundflower to be able to control the volume for my monitor. I was writing a script that toggles display mirroring, and when I'm mirroring displays I want the audio to come out of my laptop's built in speakers, when I'm not mirroring displays I want the audio to come out of my Monitor's output. This script is working fine, but when turning off display mirroring, my monitor's sound gets bugged, and the way to solve it is to manually change the output on Soundflower 2ch. I tried searching (a lot) for terminal commands for either soundflower or soundflowerbed but couldn't find anything. Anyone knows how to automate this? Even applescript would work if I can't do it through terminal. Thanks.

Soundflower Input Gain While in Teams Meeting This is happening on macOS 10.14.6 and is constrained to just Teams, for instance, recording the Soundflower output through Quicktime is absolutely fine. **Update:** For clarity the sound settings in Teams are - Output: Built-in Output - Input: Soundflower 2ch The output of another program is routed to Soundflower 2ch. enter image description here

My mic has two channels, and Soundflower has both a 2 channel and a 64 channel device. I just put them all together. Screenshot of aggregate input device The problem is, I'm trying to use this as a "mic" input for Microsoft Teams (which [does not support multi-channel input audio](https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/41022388-multi-channel-audio-usb-interface-compatibility)) , which seems to only use one channel. With the settings as my screenshot shows, people can hear only my microphone; but if I swap the order of the devices so that Soundflower is first, people can hear the Soundflower output, and not my mic. I'd like to mix these channels down to a single channel that I can use as the mic input. Is this possible (without external hardware?)

System: 2011 iMac, built-in microphone, Mountain Lion. This is a two part question. First the more basic scenario, second the more-niche scenario that I hope to ultimately solve. I want to share my Mac audio over Skype, while still being able to simultaneously talk to the person on the other end of the call. As of yet, every combination of options I have tried (dozens) involving Soundflower, aggregated devices, and even LineIn.app has completely failed. So firstly, what are the precise steps needed to get my Mac audio (say, youtube videos playing in a browser...) to transmit over Skype along WITH my voice from the built-in Mic? Now for the ultimate solution I hope to achieve. I want to be able to collaborate musically with other parties, using a program called Reason from Propellerhead Software. Reason has its own audio interface setting - a single setting for both input and output. I use the Propellerhead's own audio interface called "Balance" as my audio device for the software, providing my physical I/O as well as a headphone mix. I want to be able to merge the audio output of Reason, along with my voice via the built-in mic of the Mac, and send them together over Skype so that the other person can hear what I'm doing in reasonable fidelity (subject to Skype's limitations, of course). Can anyone provide the exact steps to share Reason's audio along with my mic, over Skype? If 3rd party software beyond SoundFlower/LineIn is required, I'm OK with that... though this *should* work with just SoundFlower even. I even had it working a couple months ago but can't seem to replicate the result again.

Using Soundflower, and in the Audio Midi Setup an Aggregate Device for input and a Multi-Output Device for output I've been able to get either Mac system audio or microphone (voice), but not both. Thanks. Any help is truly appreciated!

Okay, so I've tried so hard to set up Soundflower on my computer, and it doesn't seem to work no matter how many tutorials I watch. I'm running OSX El Capitan 10.11.4 on a MacBook Air 13-inch from early 2015. What I'd like to do is be able to record my computer audio, my microphone audio, and my screen at once, and hear my computer audio through my headphones. Here's everything I've done so far. I have the El Capitan Soundflower version. I can't post the link, because I don't have enough reputation points. I went into Audio MIDI setup and made a Multi-Output Device, selecting Built-in Output and then Soundflower 2ch. enter image description here I also set up an Aggregate device, merging my Built-In Device (this is what my headphones show up as; they're Urbanear Plattan) with Soundflower 2ch. enter image description here I set my output to the Multi-Output Device, and my input to the Aggregate Device (system settings>sound>output/input). Then, I went into QuickTime>file>new screen recording and set the input to Soundflower 2ch. I can't hear anything when I play my video back. Can anyone walk me through the correct process, or tell me what to change? It would be much appreciated.

Now that the Soundflowerbed app is retired, I haven't been able to record my Mac's system audio :( Following the instructions from mattingalls' Soundflower-2 installation guide, (https://github.com/mattingalls/Soundflower/releases/tag/2.0b2 ), I rebooted, and then created a Multi-Output Device in Audio MIDI Setup, to be able to listen to the audio through the built-in speakers along with sending it through Soundflower 2CH, But I'm getting a super low audio volume when I try to record through Quicktime 10.4. Even with the volume cranked, there's very little sound in the Quicktime recording, and yes, I did make sure to adjust the volume before switching to the Multi-Output Device in Sys. Prefs. Here's my setup: Audio MIDI Setup settings Sys. Prefs. Sound settings Quicktime Audio Recording input selection I'm working on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro Retina, still running Yosemite (oooold, I kno, but I can't update just yet- some of the software I need to use isn't compatible with the latest OS) Any advice or link to a free Soundflower alternative would be greatly appreciated :)

I tried both the 2ch and 64ch mode and I checked the volume and mute information in the Audio MIDI Setup Tool to be correct. This seems to suggest that the problem is Soundflower itself and not the application using it. Has anyone encountered the same problem and has found a workaround? I am using OS X 10.13.4. Okay, so I'm using a new MacBook Pro to do streams on my Twitch channel. That being said, I followed a Youtube video months back, when I first started on how to get my desktop audio through OBS. I did everything the video said and for a good amount of time everything was all good. Somewhere down the line the multimedia output that i selected in my sound preferences which was created after instaling soundflower was what i would select to get sound through OBS and still be able to hear everything through my scarlet 2i2. There was one time it just stopped working and I only heared audio if I selected the scarlet. I didn't pay no mind to it and idk what happened exactly, but it fixed itself. So I went back to the streams and today my computer overheated, froze all up and I restarted it. Uppon it booting back up the multimedia-output was not working or so I thought. Turned out the stream could still hear the desktop audio, but for some reason it wouldn't play it through my scarlet, so I could NOT hear what they were hearing. I'm sure there's a fix for this somehow. I just dont know enough to fix it myself. Please, can anyone help me out here?
