I have an iPhone SE with iOS 13.2.2 and latest Skype.
Today I noticed, that notification about new messages in Skype are not shown on the lock screen.
What happened was that I has a chat with a contact, then I locked the phone and put it into my pocket. Then it vibrated once, and again later. I took the phone, turned on the screen and, there were no notifications shown.
I unlocked and there, there were new messages in Skype.
Then after a minute I locked the phone again, but now I held it in my hand, with screen on (but locked). Then after a while the phone vibrated again and a notification for Skype appeared but disappeared again immediately. This happened a few more times, for each incoming Skype message (all from same contact).
Is this some bug? Or setting? It worked fine before, even today.

While examining some features of XCode, I briefly enabled the XCode Continuous Integration Server. The following dialog box now pops up:
> Skype wants to sign using key "Xcode Server Builder Identity" in your keychain.
> To allow this, enter the "login" keychain password.
If I choose "Allow" or "Deny", the dialog box will pop back up roughly a half dozen times in succession. Using Keychain Access, I find no item named "Xcode Server Builder Identity" in the login keychain or otherwise (the only item mentioning "XCode" in the login keychain predates any of this), nor in the server certificates for the system Apache server (which the XCode server seemed to want to use).
Why is Skype trying to use this key? Where is it stored? How can I stop the prompts (short of always allowing access)?

I want to remove the Skype status icons from the menu bar of my MacBook, when the app is running. I see that Microsoft has been ignoring the same question from many user, for years. MS Forum . There is no such toggle in preferences either.
So I looked for the relevant .tiff, .png, .icn, .icns files in various places, including inside the Skype.app, hoping that removing those (or replacing them with blanks) would do the job. But nothing came up.
Can I eliminate the visible icon from the menu bar while running Skype on macOS Catalina?

I'd like to know definitive techniques for preventing the modern 2024 versions of Skype from automatically notifiying the user about software updates.
This happens even mid-call several times a month. I can't stand it!
I'm using Skype v8.120.0.207 on an M1 MacBook Air running MacOS 14.5.
All suggestions in the answers I've found in apple.stackexchange and superuser.stackexchange are out of date.
Is there a solution using HOSTS file, or Little Snitch, or something else?
I would rather have Skype fail to connect because the version is out of date, than interrupt calls with software updates. Please put me out of my misery.

I recently bought an ipad with ios 16.6. When I tried to install Skype, it refused to do it without a Touch ID. When I put my finger to the button, it wrote something like payment is authorised. Does it mean that Micro$oft took money for installing Skype? Or that it will take money for using Skype whenever it wants to?
PS: I am supposed to edit my question to explain how does the question "Why do I need a credit card when I am downloading a free app from the app store on a iPad mini" is different from mine.
1. Fingerprint and credit card are two different things, so I don't understand why should it answer my question. Credit card is an object. Fingerpint is not an object.
2. That question was asked 9 years 10 months ago.
3. The main answer starts with "I don't know of any way to set up an existing Apple ID for use with the App Store without supplying a credit card (or other payment source) (unless it's an iCloud account, I think -- it's not completely consistent)." Does it mean (I am just trying to make sense of the "Your question has been identified as a possible duplicate of another question") that now you need a fingerprint to set up an existing ID for use with the App Store? Why?

Skype and Mail ignores "Hide" attribute and every time i log in the windows pop up.
Is there any way to prevent Mail and Skype from opening windows when i log in? Browsing online says to mark "Hide" option, but the option is already marked for both applications. Messages.App works as intended, starts nicely in the background.
I also followed this article:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6727254
Deleted "~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Saved Application State/" manually, however, this worked for one startup, and started messing up later.

I have a few collaborations that I work with and chat over Skype. Our conversations frequently involve discussions over calculations but with Skype I haven't been able to find a way to share my iPad screen and demonstrate some live work.
Is there any regular way or trick which would allow the Skype app on my MBA M1 (macOS 12.0.1) to share the iPad 6th gen (iPadOS 15.1) screen live?
One thing that succeeds is using an app like GoodNotes (which has app for both macOS and iPadOS) to sync your work and share it's screen on the MacBook during a Skype call and transfer that screen to iPad & use a stylus to write but the results are highly unsatisfactory.
Edit : Clarification
I cannot use another app besides Skype due to my collaborators being used to it and they won't install other apps like Zoom/Teamviewer. The method/trick has to involve either tricking Skype MacBook into allowing iPad screen sharing or using another app that allows for the iPad screen broadcast to Skype on MacBook.

Are there generic apps that can plug into the Vonage ecosystem?

Does Skype work better through Chrome than through desktop app on the M1 chip?
I heard that Skype for desktop uses node.js. However it seems like all node.js apps for now run as Intel apps. But since node.js is based on Chrome, and Chrome runs natively on m1, is it more efficient to run all these node.js apps through chrome, rather than node.js?

I found this and tested it on MacBook. No need to open the terminal. Just do it before the Skype update to be installed.
- Go to Skype prefs and check for Update.
- If it is available, the popup window for Skype Helper will show up. IGNORE IT FOR NOW.
- Go to ˇAbout Skypeˇ and when it opens THEN go to the popup and authenticate it.
The green or blue button will be visible on Skype window for update.
– Click on it. Done.
- If it asks you again for authentication, it is normal.

Just making the year invisible would be great!

I long for the days of 3.5mm connections and headphones that connect directly to the audio source.
Very often (~20%) on a Skype call, my AirPods fail to connect to the correct device. Which leaves me on a conference call that everyone around me can hear.
Here is specifically what happens:
1. Skype rings (iPhone & Mac)
2. I answer the call on Mac
3. I hear that connecting sound on the AirPods
4. The Mac shows "connected AirPods"
5. I hear another connecting sound on the AirPods
6. The Mac shows "moved to nearby device"
7. The iPhone stops ringing
8. I select bluetooth/AirPods and/or sound menu/AirPods
9. I hear another connecting sound on the AirPods
10. The Mac shows "connected to AirPods"
11. The audio from the Skype call is playing through the Mac speakers
12. I open Skype preferences/audio and select AirPods
13. 50/50 the AirPods will play the audio, or I need to restart Skype and start over
Instead this is what I want:
1. Skype rings (iPhone & Mac)
2. I answer the call on Mac
3. I can start talking

Recently, my phone began to constantly send notifications from Skype, as if someone was calling me.
Moreover, the call lasts less than a second, and if I go to Skype in the "Call list" there will be none. Interestingly, such notifications do not come from the desktop version of Skype, only on the phone.
What could be the problem, and how to get rid of these "Calls"?

I want to speak on Skype on my Wi-Fi-only iPad Air iOS 7 from my residence. However, the people tending the residence don't want to install Wi-Fi. There are only ethernet cables. Here's what I've considered:
1. Getting ethernet directly on my iPad (as explained here )
This is not practical, because ethernet cables are in public rooms at my residence. If I spoke on Skype there, I would disturb everyone else in the room.
2. Sharing my phone's data plan to my iPad
This would probably get expensive way too fast.
I have a Sony Vaio laptop, but the fan makes a lot of noise, and Skype conversations are impossible.
Currently, whenever I want to speak on Skype, I have to go to a group study room at the university's library. This means that I have to cope with the library's tight opening hours and a very small room that renders poor audio to whomever I speak with.
How can I get some internet on my iPad Air in a private room of my residence with no Wi-Fi or ethernet connection?
