Due to my poor organization I have 2 simultaneous lectures this semester, at this moment I'm following one on Phone and I record the other one with the Mac (Quicktime and Soundflower) Is it possible to record Chrome or Safari in the background while doing other things on the screen? And for my specifical purpose, is it possible to direct the audio of an app on the headphones and the audio of another app to a different output (external speaker or Soundflower to record)?

I’m experiencing an issue with call recordings saved in the Notes app on iOS 18.1. Specifically, when I try to share or export a recording, the process takes an unusually long time. For one particular recording that’s about a month old, the loading bar appears, but once it completes, the share/export menu simply disappears, and the file isn’t shared. This issue prevents me from creating a transcript, which is crucial for my work. I’ve tried various methods: - Saving the recording to Files - Sharing the audio directly - Restarting the app and my device Unfortunately, none of these options have worked. Typically, this process is slow but eventually works, so I suspect this is a bug related to older files or larger recordings. Out of desperation, I’m now updating to iOS 18.2, hoping this resolves the issue. However, I wanted to report this bug to see if anyone else has encountered it and to ask if there’s a solution I might have missed. My device is an older iPhone with a Neural Processing Unit (iPhone 13 Pro), so I find it frustrating that Apple's transcription tools aren't available on this device, even though it seems capable of supporting the feature. Any help or advice would be appreciated

I'm trying to write separate AppleScripts where one opens a new movie recording in Quicktime Player, and then a second script begins the actual recording. Currently I have a script that opens the new movie recording, a script that opens the new movie recording *and* begins recording immediately, but when I try to start the recording after the new recording window has opened, I just get error messages. I'm new to AppleScript, so I'm very naive on terms and best practices.

I apologize beforehand for the really long question... Here's my hardware: - Apple Studio M1 Max (OS 12.3.1 64GB ram) in Native Silicon mode; - Apogee Symphony MK1 i/o (SN: A6M010130300100), with an 8x8 AES card, a 16-out card, in addition to the original 2x6 card; - ThunderBridge v1.50 I record in both Pro Tools 2023.6.0 and Logic 10.7.4. I've used the Symphony for ~10 years, and it has always sounded beautiful. However in recent weeks the input-monitored and recorded sound is hard and harsh - like jitter or maybe a Word Clock thing - hard transients, especially on high notes (tho electric bass sounds fine). Colleagues hear it too. I've checked the whole analog chain - instruments, microphones, preamps, etc., into an analog monitor controller; everything sounds as good as always ... so I've ruled out anything analog being the cause. I've tried: - using an external Word Clock generator; - both USB Mode, and using the ThunderBridge; - switched out Symphony modules; - borrowed a friend's Symphony MK1; - tested recording and input-monitoring in both Pro Tools and Logic; - my old Intel Mac Pro with Symphony 64 PCIE and Pro Tools 12; ... all with the same result. I've tried the Symphony's 'standalone' mode, monitoring the Symphony's headphone output - and it sounded good! Like I said, until a few weeks ago it sounded beautiful. I can't think of anything else to try. I suspect that something is either conflicting or corrupted in the communication between the Symphony MK1 and Maestro 2 version 2.11. Has anyone experienced a similar problem before? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you. svs

This is rather a last resort—I have previously submitted a version of this to Quora (here ) and the official Apple Support Community (here ) on April 8; the Reddit communities r/iphonehelp (here ), r/techsupport (here ), and r/applehelp (here ) on March 18/19; r/DataHoarder (here ) on March 15; and in an earlier stage r/iphonehelp (here ) and r/applehelp (here ) again on February 23 and 29, respectively. (Why it's been so long for me continue pursuing this is another story.) I *highly* recommend people read at least the Quora and Apple Support Community post for more context. Simply put, I want to migrate the Voice Memos currently clogging my iPhone 8 Plus to somewhere else, including context like the ***exact*** time they were recorded. If the Windows tools I have could directly access the file system of an iPhone, this would be a non-issue—I would just use DMDE, FreeCommander, or robocopy to copy them to an external drive while retaining metadata, else use DMDE or Clonezilla to just image the whole thing. But unfortunately, since Apple "Thinks Different", this is not an option. While I know you can back up your iPhone files to a Windows PC using iTunes, I don't know for sure whether that retains their (Date created/Date modified) metadata. **So, is there any option for me?**

I installed v2.0.7 of GarageBand to my iPad a few months ago. I've just tried recording my voice using the audio option and it told me I did not have enough free storage. However, I can still record using the other instruments provided by GarageBand, so space doesn't seem to be the issue. How can I troubleshoot this to determine why I can't do a voice recording using GarageBand?

I can reproduce this 100% of the time. The orange microphone icon in the menu bar is there and shows no error while I am trying to record a voice message in Messages. Reproducing the recording has no audio, and the waveform is flat. I am on an M3 Max MacBook Pro. If this is just my machine, what can I do to troubleshoot and possibly resolve? Please know that due to recent bad experience, calling Apple Support will be the last resort.

Using Quick Time Player or the one which shows up on CMD+SHIFT+5 I get the following icon in the menu bar: Is there a way to hide that? If not can you recommend another free software which I can use? **EDIT** I found that you can remove the entire menu bar, wondering if you could just hide the icon itself?

I’m trying to record something on my iPhone 11 and it keeps stopping every few minutes. Is there a way to keep this from happening so I can get the full recording? Is this caused by screen going dark or something else I could fix?

After I hit Record on my iPhone for video or audio recordings, the Stop button is too easily triggered accidentally, e.g. by the wind or physical matter (dust, paper) that manages to touch the phone screen. How can I force the phone to require more than a touch (e.g. a password) to stop or pause a recording?

I plan to find an old iPhone to make my record player connect to Airplay. Is that possible? What I want to do is to take stereo line signal and "input" it into the phone and then playback it on the phone to an Apple TV. Is that possible? What hardware do I need to get the stereo signal into the phone and what software would allow me to redirect the in-signal to Airplay?

I try to use Audacity to record my voice with AirPods on. Audacity does identify AirPods as an input device so I select it from the mic list. But it cannot get the voice at all and there is no waveform displayed. However, once I explicitly open Mac's setting Sound->Input (just leave the window there), it weirdly works. As soon as I close the setting or even just switch to other setting tabs, my voice gets lost. (By default, in Sound->Input AirPods is selected even when I open it.) Restarting software/computer does not change this behavior.

I am trying to get an external sound source (a handheld FRS radio/Walkie Talkie with an 3.5mm output) working as an input (microphone) on my Mac (maxOS Monterey 12.4, MBP 16" 2021, M1 chip). Supposedly, the 3.5mm port on the Mac can serve as an input as well. However, when I plug the 3.5mm aux cable into my Mac, it is recognized as external headphones, not an external microphone. Some older blogs posts referred to a System Preferences "Use audio port for:" where you could reverse the audio direction. But it seems like that option does not exist anymore on newer MacOS versions.

I've tried using both VLC and HandBrake to retrieve this video. It says that its duration is 0 mins and 0 seconds but the file size is 205.4 MB. It is a presentation for my speech class anything helps.

I have a 16" 2021 MacBook Pro, a cassette tape player, and a bunch of old cassette tapes with family audio recordings on them. I want to digitize them by connecting the tape player to my MBP's 1/8" audio port. I have tried getting a regular male-to-male headphone cable, and the MBP (using GarageBand) does not detect any input. What kind of adapter do I need to make the MBP recognize audio input from an 1/8" audio cable? Does the headphone jack on this machine even support line in? If not, is there a USB-C adapter that will work?

I'm looking for a way to perform relatively high quality stereo line-in recording on iPhone. Unusual and third-party hardware is acceptable, but jailbreak is not. I am aware of the following options: Griffin iMic paired with Apple's Lightning to USB Camera Adapter - Pros: Well-reviewed, USB interface. - Cons: Lightning to USB Camera Adapter is not supported on iPhone. Blue Mikey Digital - Pros: Works with iPhone. - Cons: Requires Lightning adapter, line-in quality reportedly poor . Neither of those satisfies my requirements. Is there some workaround I'm missing?

A very precious audio message came my way via Messenger this evening, and the app offered for me to save it once I finished listening to it, so of course I saved it. Now I am wondering where these recordings are stored to on my device, and how I can access them in the future. I'd like to know several things: - how do I access these saved recordings? - is it possible to export them via email, messenger, or other applications so that I may save them to external storage? I just bought a new **iPhone 13 Pro** to use as my main phone. Are there any call recording apps, or ways of recording calls, regardless of whether they are free or premium? After searching through the app store, it seems all of the apps require me to start a three-way call, rather than saving the call locally. Because of my employment, I would not be allowed to make a three-way call. I also tried quickly opening a normal voice recording app before accepting the call, however this resulted in the recording stopping. Since the voice recorder works fine when I am not taking a call, I safely assume this is a security feature. I really like the phone, but sadly even Android can manage call recording.

Is there a way (or app) to input an audio file (for example a recording of my voice) into my microphone?
