Google Drive doesn't appear on my Finder
I can see Dropbox but I can't find Google Drive on my Finder. If I want to sync a file to GDrive, I have to open the folder GDrive by click on the symbol of Gdrive. It's very inconvenient. I'm wondering if there is a way to display GDrive on the Finder, just like where Dropbox is?

I have a 2011, 15" MacBook Pro (running 10.6.8) with the defunct, AMD(?) graphics chip. I'm trying to connect to a 23" Apple Cinema Display using a brand-new Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter (LogiLink CV0037), **but it doesn't work.** I am aware that my laptop has a Thunderbolt port, not a Mini DisplayPort. However, everything I've read seems to indicate that a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter should work perfectly fine for what I'm trying to do, given Thunderbolt's 'backward compatibility'. The most likely culprit in my mind is that I've permanently disabled the faulty graphics chip by following these video instructions , which might be interacting with how my machine connects with the display. Is this likely correct? Is the AMD(?) chip required to run external displays? Are there any other obvious possibilities? Also, it's worth noting: Both the display and adapter do in fact work. I plugged the display into an older 17" MBP with a mini-DisplayPort with no problems. Also when I pull the adapter out of either the 15" or 17", the laptop screen goes blue for a few seconds, suggesting that the 15" MacBook Pro is also detecting something, just not integrating the display connection fully(?).

A full-screen Terminal window is open. ][1] It's not inside the screen, though it's literally on the screen, and it's not dirt. I couldn't find a similar problem here, but I think it's because of overheating, because it's in the same place that the Mac CPU is (when it closes). ![Screenshot of the same Terminal window from the previous photo ][2]

I often leave my phone plugged into my MacBook over night. After switching to an iPhone with USB-C, it started charging up my Mac from the phone battery if the Mac isn't connected to power, which results in my phone being dead in the morning. I'm unsure whether the Mac's battery is already flat when this happens, or if it happens when the Mac is still sleeping. The battery settings on the iPhone show power being used by "USB-C Accessories". Is there any way to disable this reverse charging behaviour? Screenshot

M2 MacBook Air aggressively throttles P-cores based on a non-CPU sensor, even when CPU is cool

I'm running a MacBook Air M2 on **macOS Tahoe Beta 26.0 (developer beta 4, 25A5316i)** and have noticed a peculiar and aggressive thermal throttling behavior that makes the system very slow under sustained load. **The Problem:** When the machine's case gets hot, the system seems to enter a heavily throttled state. My monitoring app (Stats) shows that all **Performance cores are effectively shut down**: their utilization drops to 0% and their frequency is locked at the lowest state (660 MHz). This forces all system processes onto the **Efficiency cores**, which then run at 100% load. The computer becomes extremely sluggish and borderline unusable for anything beyond basic operations like text editing. Here is a screenshot of the system in this throttled state (Image 1): A screenshot of the 'CPU' tab in the Stats app, detailing a throttled state under heavy load. The key data shows that the Performance cores are inactive, with 0% utilization and a low frequency of 660 MHz. In contrast, the Efficiency cores are completely maxed out at 100% utilization. This imbalance has resulted in an extremely high 1-minute average load of 68.48. As you can see: * P-cores are at 0% usage and 660 MHz. * E-cores are at 100% usage. * The Average load is extremely high (68.48 over 1 minute). **The Paradox: It's Not Directly Tied to CPU Core Temperature** My initial assumption was that this was standard CPU thermal throttling. However, my observations show this is not the case. The throttling seems to be triggered by a different thermal sensor, not the CPU cores themselves. **Evidence 1: Throttling Occurs at Low CPU Temperatures** Here is a sensor reading from when the machine was in the throttled state described above. > Note: I don't know why the Stats app shows all cores as 'performance core' in this tab. A screenshot of the 'Sensors' tab in the Stats app, showing the system in a throttled state. Despite this, CPU temperatures are low: the average CPU temperature is 59.3°C, and the hottest CPU core is 61.2°C. The Power section confirms the low-power state, with CPU Power at only 0.16W and System Total power at 7.70W. * **Average CPU temperature is only 59.3°C**, and the hottest core is 61.2°C. These are very safe temperatures. * Despite the cool CPU, the P-cores are shut down as shown in the first image. **Evidence 2: No Throttling Occurs at High CPU Temperatures** Conversely, I can push the CPU to its thermal limit (e.g., with a short, intense task) without triggering this specific P-core shutdown, as long as the machine's chassis hasn't had time to heat soak. A screenshot of the same 'Sensors' tab, showing the system under high load but not throttled. In stark contrast to the other image, CPU core temperatures are extremely high, ranging up to 107.2°C, with an average CPU temperature of 101.8°C. The Power section reflects this high activity, showing CPU Power at 14.53W and System Total power at 24.61W, indicating the performance cores are fully active. * Here, the **CPU cores are running at over 100°C** while the machine was still not throttled. * The CPU Power draw is high (14.53W) compared to the throttled state (0.16W), indicating the P-cores are active. * The system remains responsive during this time. This leads me to believe the throttling is a proactive measure based on a chassis, battery, or other component's temperature, rather than a reactive measure to the CPU's own temperature. **My Questions:** 1. What is the specific thermal management mechanism at play here? Is it a known behavior for fanless MacBooks to shut down P-cores? 2. Could this be a bug or an overly aggressive policy, possibly related to the macOS developer beta I am running? 3. Is there any way to adjust or disable this specific, preemptive throttling behavior? I understand the need for thermal management, but the current implementation makes the machine unusable long before the CPU itself is in any thermal danger.

**The problem** When I use my laptop, it always heats up a lot in the center above the touch bar on top. I can feel it quite heated below as well under the top center. The CPU is fine (no processes going crazy). Fans are not really loud at all and I suspect they are working below the speed they should be. This was an issue when I bought it as well. **SMC reset** I did (multiple) SMC resets when I first bought, as this was an issue straight away. After the reset it worked fine for a few weeks and then I'd do another reset. A year and a half later thouhg, when I do an SMC reset, I don't notice the heat going away and it's still working the same way. P.S. Since I have been working from home, I often connect to an external monitor, no-surprise there that this causes heat. When I don't work with one, it's still warmer that it should be in my opinion. Any idea what may be the causing the issue and how can I fix it? My Macbook has the following specs: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) Processor 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7 Memory 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 Graphics Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I have a larger, external monitor connected to my MacBook Pro and have arranged it such that the dock is in the external monitor (via System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement, by dragging the white bar to the larger screen). This works fine, except for the fact that every now and then, the dock will suddenly shift back to my MacBook screen, but when I open up Displays to change this back, the white bar is still on the external monitor. So I have to drag it to the smaller screen, and then drag it back to the external monitor. It's a minor issue, obviously, but I've noticed that it has been happening more and more frequently and it's getting quite annoying. Perhaps there's something I've been doing unintentionally for this to happen? I'm using Mavericks, 10.9.5.

When I plug a USB-3 to USB-C cable directly into my MacBook, nothing happens; sometimes my mouse will light up, but the MacBook doesn't see it. The USB-3 to USB-C is male on both ends. However, if I plug in the same USB-3 to USB-C cable into the Anker USB-C hub, everything works as expected. Is there any way that I can use the USB-C cable directly, without having to use the hub? Basically, right now my set up looks like this: Mouse --USB-A Cable--> USB Switch --USB-3 to USB-C--> Anker Hub --USB-C--> MacBook But I want it to look like this: Mouse --USB Cable--> USB Switch --USB-3 to USB-C--> MacBook Note that the USB3 to USBC cable that I'm using did not come with the USB switch; its a separate cable that I had lying around. These are the items in question. - Anker 555 USB-C Hub (8-in-1) enter image description here - ABLEWE 3.0 USB Switch enter image description here

my Macbook pro 13inch, Early 2015 has the problem you can see in the picture enter image description here I take that to the support, they told me the screen was broken, so they replaced it, but the problem is still there. Now the weird side of the story, that issue is there just after the login screen. If I connect the macbook to an external display, both the internal and exernal starts to be well visible again! Another strange thing is that I tried to wipe everything, formatting the entire disk and installing a brand new Catalina os (I had Sierra before). All the installation went smootly in the recovery suite (without the external display connected), and the initialization of the os as well. But, after the desktop appeared, the problem was back there. When the hdmi cable is connected, the screen works perfectly fine, as you can see here enter image description here I tried to reset NVRAM with the P R option cmd combination I tried also to reset the SMC with shift ctrl option combination Nothing seems to have any effect. Any idea? Thank you

I'm experiencing an issue where exactly every 60 seconds, the screen briefly dims, then brightens, then beeps. I don't care about the dimming/brightening, but the beeping is maddening. It happens while charging using a new (non-Apple) Magsafe3 connector I bought, connected to a 96W Apple power adaptor. This combo otherwise seems to charge fine. So: can I fix this behaviour? Or at the least, prevent the beeping? It's a 2022 M2 Max Macbook Pro. Ventura 13.6.3 (22G436) EDIT After some research I've discovered: - the screen dimming behaviour can be disabled in settings, "Slightly dim the display on battery" - the beep is called the "Power chime". So now the question is how to disable the power chime. The actual file is at /System/Library/CoreServices/PowerChime.app/Contents/Resources/connect_power.aif but I'm not able to modify/remove it.

I also tried to restart it in safe mode or reset the PRAM/NVRAM, but without luck. Do you have any suggestions before I take it for repair?

A few weeks ago, the sound on my Mac just died. Nothing was coming from the internal speakers, the headsets, or external systems. When I get into the sound icon from system preferences, I'm told that there are no input or output devices available. Everything but the sound works fine, except if there's an interview in a story, music, or any audio, I get dead silence. Is this a fatal breakdown or can it be fixed for under the $2300 I paid for it originally? I didn't expect it to help, but I tried to restore everything with the Time Machine--no luck there. Thanks.

I have a Macbook Pro 16" 2019 that automatically boots after I shut it down. When I shutdown the macbook as per usual (Apple Icon > Shut Down), and close the lid, it will boot up automatically, because I hear the boot sound. It typically happens when I pick it up, or pick up my backpack and it's inside. I have tried forcing it off (pressing and holding the fingerprint reader), but it has no effect, it also boots automatically. I have found https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/334069/macbook-air-starts-up-when-i-close-the-lid and tried the solutions proposed there, but none of them worked. The things I checked are ensuring the power nap feature is off, removing any applications that might have launchd installed (only opengpg), and reinstalling this machine. One of my hypotheses is that when you pick up the device the touchpad registers movement and boots based off of that, but then this must be a hardware malfunction because nobody else at work has the issue. I completely wiped the macbook and installed a vanilla version of Mac OSX. Here is the output of pmset -g log > ~/beforeshutdown.log. Full log here: https://exbin.call-cc.be/r/BepaintWaitresses

The screen of MacbookPro 2019 is broken, but I don't want to replace it now for economic reasons (external works well enough). As you may see the screen works just fine (despite on the broken pixels) either in Recovery Mode or in ordinary usage. the broken screen in recovery mode the broken screen in ordinary mode But the issue is that when Im logging it in - (as I assume) the OS verifies the screen for damage and just turns it off (see the gif) as it gets ready. the broken screen works just fine till I log in As next step I plan to use SwitchResX to crop the dead pixels I wish to configure the screen a bit to keep it using it as secondary screen (an external monitor will be the 1st one). Meanwhile the external display works fine with this mac after logging in. Can I force the screen to work all the time (after the OS log in)?

Macbook - Select individual files with Keyboard only
Is there a way to navigate through a list of files and select individual files (like you would normally do with command + click) but using only the keyboard ?
