Google Drive doesn't appear on my Finder
I can see Dropbox but I can't find Google Drive on my Finder. If I want to sync a file to GDrive, I have to open the folder GDrive by click on the symbol of Gdrive. It's very inconvenient. I'm wondering if there is a way to display GDrive on the Finder, just like where Dropbox is?

I have been using Google Drive for desktop on my M1 MacBook Pro for a long time, but recently my folders on my google drive stopped syncing suddenly (Some folders are on my windows laptop and drive just basically mirrors them to my mac). On my other devices drive is running completely fine. There is no problem of storage shortage on my account too. At first, I signed out and signed in but that did not work. So I completely uninstalled and reinstalled it, but in vain. I was seeking help from google high tier support team but nothing really worked for my Mac. I have attached what pops out after the sign in. I have searched on the internet for a long time but to my surprise I did not found a single person with my kind of problem. The troubleshooting I tried are mentioned below: 1. Signing out and in 2. Uninstall and reinstall 3. Using mac on a different network 4. Signing in with a different google account 5. Deleting the DriveFS folder and restarting the computer 6. Reset user preferences on drive 7. Google drive proxy setting change from Auto-Detect to Direct Connection Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! Whenever sign-in is confirmed, this pops up

I'm trying to attach some files, shared with me in Google Drive, to an email by using my iPad. It looks like I can not find that files when searching them from the dialog it is shown to select the files to attach. There is no problem if the files that I want to attach are from my Google Drive (instead of shared with me). It looks to happen the same when I try to make that search from the ios Files app directly. Of course, if I try to make the same search from Drive app, I can find all files and open them. Please note that all apps and iOS are up to date, and I have only one Gmail account set up on the Drive app. I'm not sure if that problem id due to a misconfiguration or a limitation of the Apple Files app. In that case, is there a workaround to make me able to attach multiple files shared with me through Google Drive? Probably a workaround could be to copy that shared files to my private Drive or to store them locally on my iPad, but because they are dynamic files, I could not consider that as a solution. With my old iPad (not using Files app to make the file selection when attaching files) that was not a problem, and I could do that with any problem. PD. I'm using Apple's Mail.app, not Gmail.app.

While looking at the log files for Time Machine, I realized that the previous backups were not being deleted due to an error with a single file:

I do not understand what is wrong with this link in particular. It was created by Google Drive. I uninstalled, deleted the entire GoogleDrive-xxx@gmail.com folder then reinstalled Google Drive and it is the exact same issue.
> cd ~/Library/CloudStorage/GoogleDrive-xxx@gmail.com

rm: My Drive: Operation not permitted
The only thing that seems to work is to issue a manual sudo rm -f "My Drive". Any idea what is wrong with the link that Google Drive creates that cannot be deleted by Time Machine and what to do to fix it?

When using "Google Drive for desktop" and I sync a "Folder from your computer", can that folder also be synced with other computers?

"Google Drive for desktop" has two different sync options: (1) ***"Folders from Drive":*** This isn't actually an option, since you have no option to turn it off. It has two modes, though. One mode is called "Stream files" and one mode is called "Mirror files". Neither of these are the feature that I want to ask about, however. I understand how to use them. (2) ***"Folders from your computer:"*** With this option, you can select an arbitrary number of specific folders located anywhere on your computer that you'd like synced to Google Drive. My question is about feature #2 above. It works great. Except that I can find no way to make this feature sync the same folder across two or more computers. The files that are synced using this feature end up in Google Drive (as seen via the web interface), not under "My Drive", but rather under "Computers". And there is one folder under "Computers" for each computer that you use with *Google Drive for desktop*. There seems to be no way to tell Google Drive that I'd like, for instance, ~/'My Folder' on "My Desktop Mac" to be considered to be the same folder as ~/'My Folder' under "My MacBook". Am I missing something? I really would like to make this work, and it seems as if it would be easy for Google to implement. Thanks. P.S. Yes, I understand that I can do something like make a symlink on both "My Desktop Mac" and "My Macbook" that links to ~/Library/CloudStorage/GoogleDrive-my-email-address@gmail.com/'My Drive'/'My Folder', but for various reasons, I'd prefer not to have to do it that way. P.P.S. This is how things work on the latest version of Monterey using the latest version of *Google Drive for desktop". Specific details may differ a bit with older versions Mac OS.

If I click on a particular spreadsheet, the spreadsheet opens, but it doesn't move to the page/sub-sheet where the text was found. Inside the spreadsheet, I can search, but only on the current sheet. So it seems like I have no way of actually finding where text is when I have multi-sheet spreadsheet? I know on Google Sheets through the Web app (using a web browser on a PC) I can search all sheets of the current spreadsheet, but I can't find the same thing on the iPhone app. I do understand that the iPhone app might not have all the functionality of the Web app, but this seems like a basic function to me.

I'm on a MBA, 2020 M1 model. About two weeks ago Apple replaced my corroded motherboard and did a fresh install of Sequoia. Everything has been working great. Today, when I fipped it open, I had two identical popup notifications on my screen, one for Workflowy (note: Workflowy is a task management app), the other for Google Drive. Both said, "allow [app name] to find devices on local networks." Both were small, "always on top" windows, and showed as belonging to "UserNotificationCenter" on Mission Control when grouped by application. Both have been installed and running on this computer for at least a week, and there was no discernible change in our network architecture or anything else I can think of. 1) How do I know if these requests are legit, given that they did not happen while I was using either apps? 2) Why would they be asking for this, now? I can envision scenarios in which Google Drive could need access to networked drives, but Workflowy? 3) Assuming that are legit, is there any reason not to allow?

Starting Google Drive gives a popup with this message: "Google Drive has encountered a macOS File Provider error. This might be resolved by restarting your computer. For best results, ensure your computer is running the latest version of macOS." Restarting the machine makes no difference and 12.7.6 is the latest available for my hardware (Mac mini (Late 2014)), yes it is 10 years old and I can't afford to buy a new one : ( No errors in system logs. I was having problems with Google Drive not reflecting changes that I had made on another machine so I uninstalled GD deleted the directories (which I now suspect was a mistake) restarted, installed GD again and got the error on starting it. Searching for the first sentence of the message got lots of hits but nothing useful and applicable to my situation. I ran First Aid on the hard disk which reported no errors in case there were filesystem problems that might cause the error. Is there anyway of getting some more diagnostics about what is actually wrong?

I am using a MacBook with OS macOS Big Sur **version 11.7.10**. I am also using the application **Drive for Desktop** on the same device. **Some context** before I ask my question: On the homepage for **Drive for Web** (i.e., https://drive.google.com/drive/home) , I see three _things_, namely My Drive, Shared drives and Computers. Please see Picture 3. Inside Computers I see my laptop My MacBook Pro, and inside that, there are the two folders which I have chosen to sync with Google Drive. Please see Picture 1. (These two folders are Folder C and Folder D in the structure below). 1. Drive for Web - Home (https://drive.google.com/drive/home) - My Drive * Folder A - Shared drives * Folder B - Computers * My MacBook Pro - Folder C (Aetna) - Folder D (Career & Jobs - MS) I am using Stream files as my Drive syncing options. Please see Picture 2. Also, this version of macOS uses Alternative streaming method (it does **not** use File Provider). Now, I would like to stop the synchronizing of those two folders with Google Drive (Folders C and D), and, after that, I would like to disconnect my account from Google Drive so that I no longer continue with the synchronizing. **My question**: How do I stop the synchronizing while not losing any files inside those two folders (Folders C and D)? In the picture attached, there is no option called stop sync or anything similar. There is one option to Disconnect account directly (see Picture 4) but there is no option to simply stop syncing before doing that. So I am worried that I may lose all my files if I do that directly. Can somebody please guide me on how to do this step-by-step? Picture 1: Google Drive Preferences - My MacBook Pro (Folders from your computer)

Picture 2: Google Drive Preferences - Google Drive (Folders from Drive)

I’m encountering an issue when uploading files from an external hard drive formatted as ExFAT. For every file I upload through **Google Chrome**, a second file with the same name is created, prefixed with ._ and with a size of 4KB. **Here’s the key detail:** The ._ files are not visible on the external drive before the upload (I have enabled hidden files visibility to check this). They only appear after the files are uploaded. **My understanding so far:** I know that macOS creates ._ files to store metadata (like resource forks or Finder attributes) on file systems that don’t natively support macOS metadata, such as ExFAT. However, in this case, I am not copying these metadata files manually, and they don’t seem to exist on the drive before the upload process starts. **My question:** Why are these ._ files being created during the upload process if they are not visible nor selected beforehand on the drive? **Additional context:** - My external drive is formatted as ExFAT for compatibility with both macOS and Windows. The files being uploaded do not seem to have any special Finder attributes, tags, or custom icons (at least as far as I can tell). - When I upload files to Google Drive using Google Chrome, either by dragging them from a Finder window to the drop area in the browser or by using the "+ New > Folder upload" option in the Google Drive web interface, a second file with the same name is automatically created for each uploaded file. These additional files are prefixed with ._ and have a size of 4KB. I’d appreciate any insights into why this might happen and practical steps to resolve or prevent it!

I've been using Google Drive Desktop for a while due to its mirroring features and the convenience of accessing cloud files through Finder. Recently, I set an entire directory to be available offline, not realizing its size was over 50 GB. Afterward, I reconfigured it to have those files available only online. However, the large cache created did not disappear even after quitting the app or rebooting my computer. Unfortunately, there is no button to clear the cache, although some tutorials suggest this option was available in previous versions. Is there a way to clear the cache without uninstalling the app or damaging the data stored in the cloud? Command-line operations are preferred over GUI methods. Version: 94.0.1.0 (Silicon). I tried to find a way to sync my photos on my iPhone to my Google Drive, but it appears that this is not so easy, this is what I did already: 1. In my photo app on my iPhone I select 4 photos > Share > to Google Drive and select a folder and that works. 2. I select 13 photos in my photo app > share and Google Drive is gone, I can't select it 3. Upload photos in the Google Drive app and that works, it's a hassle because I need to delete the original photos from the photo app, which kind of sucks 4. Then iCloud: I turned on sync with iCloud on my phone and on my Mac I set it up to sync my iPhone photos with my Mac to put those pictures in a specific location and what do I get when I open the Finder in that location? a whole bunch of F[2 digits] folders, how helpful is that?... 5. Then I found Is there a way to automatically upload photos from an iPhone to Google Drive and I tested photosync and I got excited I set up to sync the photos to a Google Drive folder in low quality because the original quality cost money and it works I tested it and deleted a photo in google drive and I synced again and the deleted photo came back in Google Drive. In my book, that's not syncing. I came from Android on my Android: I downloaded a drivesync app I set it up and BAM done, with no problems. Why is it so hard for IOS to sync photos? Does anyone here have a sync with iPhone photos to Google Drive working? And I mean Google Drive, not Google Photos. On my Mac and Windows laptop, I sync the photo and I have renaming files and directory structure workflow, and I don't want to change that; so Google Photos is not an option.

First, this question is not about "Shared Folders", but "Google WorkSpace **Shared Drives**". Google WorkSpace administrators set up "**Shared Drives**" for each department. Whether on Linux or Windows PCs, staff automatically see and use these shared drives for things like shared password databases. They find it relatively easy on the PC. The Google "Drive" app itself on iPhone has no problem seeing the "**Shared Drives**" and works perfectly. Google Drive APP on iOS iPhone showing The problem is third party apps do not see "Shared Drives". The Apple “Files” app does not see the Google filesystem at all. Other apps see the “My Drive” folder and files, but not the “Shared Drives”. Not Keepassium, not StrongBox, not KeePassTouch, ... nothing sees “Shared Drives”. The objective is to open a KDBX file on a shared drive. Oddly enough opening an existing database and the exporting it will allow to see sharedDrives. Apple “Files” app does not see any Drive Content. Infinite uthentication Loop ensues. The shortcut trick results in multiple versions of the same file nightmare - especially for password databases. Is there some configuration setting that be set? Otherwise, what is the purpose of "Shared Drives" on the iPhone if they cannot be used?
