I spilled a glass of water on my 2019 MacBook Pro. I immediately turned it off, then left it to drain for 48 hours.
After turning it on, the display remained black, but first I saw the whole Touch Bar and heard a voice saying "user name." I force-restarted it: now I just see the "esc" button on the Touch Bar, nothing else. The caps lock LED is working.
I tried with an external monitor without success.
I also tried to restart it in safe mode or reset the PRAM/NVRAM, but without luck.
Do you have any suggestions before I take it for repair?

How turn off the screen verification on macbook pro 2019
The screen of MacbookPro 2019 is broken, but I don't want to replace it now for economic reasons (external works well enough). As you may see the screen works just fine (despite on the broken pixels) either in Recovery Mode or in ordinary usage. ![the broken screen in recovery mode][1]

my MacBook laptop monitor as stopped working. I'm not sure it'll be worth getting it fixed so hoping just to continue using laptop with a separate monitor, via HDMI. The connection works, however I'm just presented with the default background and nothing else. There's nowhere to enter my login credentials and take me to my Home Screen. I've read that this may be because my MacBook is set up to bypass the login screen, and that this can be changed in my settings, however I can't get to the settings using the monitor, and can't see anything on my laptop due to the screen being broken.
Any tips on how to resolve this very welcome!

Need advice: should I open the back of a 2013 Retina MacBook Pro as a means to recover data?

A Late-2013 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina (MBPr) of mine was fried by a water spill and some very important data is on the SSD. My most recent back up doesn't include this data. I know the computer is fried but I'm not sure if the drive is recoverable or not. Sparing the details, recovery of this data is very time sensitive.
Attempted solutions thus far:
1. I took off the back of my computer to check if the drive was recoverable. Unfortunately I need a SSD adapter for an A1502 MBPr drive to find out, so this is not an immediate solution. I looked into purchasing a connector but everyone I found online won't arrive for at least a couple weeks. I can't wait that long.
2. The company Apple recommends you take your computer to for data recovery wants ~$1000 as an estimate, and the turnaround time is not guaranteed. This is the "standard priority" price, meaning I might spend money that I don't have and not even get the data recovered in time.
My thoughts on my next attempt at a solution:
I've ordered a new MBPr to replace my old one. It arrives in a couple days. My thought is to take off the back of my new MBP and plug in my old drive. From what I've read Apple hasn't updated their SSD drives since 2013, so my old drive should be compatible with the new MBPr. If the old drive is okay then I should be able to restore my data before the weekend.
I'm asking for opinions on this solution. I recognize that this would void my warranty, but it is also my understanding from a friend's friend that works at the Genius Bar that there's no way for Apple to ever know I did this should I need to use my warranty for something in the future. For what it's worth, I would do this with the assistance of a very computer-savvy friend.
In particular, I am wondering if anyone can answer the following:
1. Can anyone confirm that my 2013 A1502 MBPr drive is compatible with the current MBPr model?
2. Will opening up my computer and temporarily swapping the hard drives compromise my new MBPr in **any** way?
3. Am I misinformed about Apple being unable to know I opened the back of my new MBPr should something go wrong?
Alternative solutions welcome. Please help.

I immediately wiped it and shook it to remove any excess water but I did see a small puff a smoke. Once I got home I opened it up, disconnected the battery, and this is what I observed:
The liquid submersed indicator is visible and some damage is noticeable to another component (backlight connector?). The MagSafe charger lights green then amber.
I may take a chance and swap the logic board for a used one off eBay and hope for the best but what do the experts suggest?

Unfortienaly I spilled some milk on my Macbook Pro M1 2021. I took it to a Mac cleaning service the next day and they cleaned the Mac. Fortunately, the board is not damaged and there was almost no liquid on the board. Everything is functioning as normal except the keyboard. Some keys are acting weird and by looking at the circuit underneath some keys (e.g., right arrow,) I can tell the keyboard is damaged and has some obvious problems and is pretty much done/dead (I'm typing with the keyboard now, but some keys are gone!).
I temporarily got a wireless keyboard to be able to use the Mac until I figure something out. Considering this is a fairly new Mac (I have only for less than a year now,) and the board is not affected, I'm trying to see what would be the best solution to get this Mac back to normal. I wonder if entirely changing the keyboard would be a good or best solution considering the cost and everything? Or can I partially replace only those keys that are not working? Or do you think changing the keyboard is not worth the cost and I should figure something else? And if changing the keyboard is the solution, I wonder if I can find the original keyboard for this Mac? Another problem is that I'm pressed with time, so I'm also looking for a solution that can be done in the sortes amount of time possible.
I know I've asked a lot of questions, but any input or feedback on any of the questions would be helpful.

I would like to have some original software shipped to me but I am afraid that it might become damaged in shipping.
The software are the original boot disks and disk tools that came with my first Mac SE and some miscellaneous original goodies. They are ~25 year old 400K low coercivity diskettes which is the reason for my concern. I don't know the strength of the remaining data and don't want it destroyed by security scans as it crosses national borders.
I am afraid of the possibility of magnetic fields further demagnetizing the already weak data on the disk. I have no idea how to recover the data if it is lost. I don't have 400k drives to recreate the disks.
I want to be able to use them on the elderly computer. They were matched for the first release of the model, became lost in a move long ago, and recently relocated.
How best to protect my treasures in transit. What precautions should I ask the borrower to take for returning my original diskettes to me?
Update: The disks are 3.25" (beige plastic hard shell case) 400K disks with no second notch (that indicate a high density, high coercivity diskette). The 400K drives do not recognize the 800K disks I have tried in the drive. It wants its boot disks to access the internal 10 MB disk. :(

Net result is that the phone powers up normally (mostly) when connected to a wall charger. I can see my old home screen, pictures, etc.
When connected to a computer for USB-charging, it shuts down soon after the Apple logo pops up.
So connecting to a computer does not work. Unless there is a way to wall-charge and USB-sync at the same time?
WiFi does not work. The WiFi settings slider is greyed out.

Apparently you cannot do an iCloud backup over mobile data, so that is out as well.
Just called Sprint... cannot activate the phone without either syncing or with WiFi. So out of luck for the cell connection too?
So, the question is, is there *any* way for me to do an iCloud backup of this iPhone?
Is there a way for me to manually back up things like pictures without WiFi or iTunes sync or the cellular connection?

I only spilled a few drops of water on it, landing around the keyboard and touchpad. I immediately turned off the computer and left it closed with the keyboard facing down and placed it in the airing cupboard. Unfortunately I didn't remove the battery and didn't use any paper towel.
I kept it turned off for 5 days and have just turned it on. It appeared to be working OK. It boots normally and will then run completely normally for a random amount of time (usually sub 10 minutes and frequently much less) and then it appears to spontaneously short circuit and cuts power to the screen and/or touch bar. The computer remains turned on at this point. If a second screen is connected it loses power to this display, so it appears to be an issue of power rather a problem specifically with the MacBook screen.
What would people recommend? I'd be very grateful for any tips.
Thanks.

When I connect the mac to the power after several tries it turns on(while doing weird sound like entering a movie or something). When it reaches the Desktop then I have a message notifying that the computer shut down due to a problem with the error below, and after 3-5 minutes it turns off again.
Worth to say, the touch bar does not working at all.
Can anyone shed some light regarding this error? is it something with the hardware or might be reformat the OS can help?

I spilled a full glass of regular tap water over a late 2016 MacBook Pro 13" a few days ago. I've let it dry upside down (hanging over the edge of a table) for nearly four days, and I'm happy to see it boots fine.
Two issues appeared at first: Bluetooth was "not available", and the whole system stuttered and slowed down for a few seconds when changing the screen brightness. Both of these issues disappeared on a second reboot, and bluetooth as well as screen brightness behaves normally.
From just using the computer, the keyboard, trackpad, hard drive, battery, screen, wifi, speakers, microphone, and camera all seem to work fine. But I would prefer a more systematic approach to discover any lurking problems.

I leave my iPad Mini 3 in my bathroom most of the time. If you must know, I enjoy reading my iPad while using the toilet.
I take daily showers in this bathroom. Showering produces steam and increases the humidity in the bathroom. I run the bathroom fan after showering for about 10 minutes, like one should, to remove much of the humidity.
The bathroom is very small. While I never actually spill water on my iPad, I'm sure that it is exposed to the moist air.
Can this moist air damage the iPad?
Can the moist air find its way *inside of* the iPad, resulting in the formation of condensation inside of the iPad? I'm sure that the iPad was not designed to have water inside of it.
The bottom line: Is it necessary to remove the iPad from the bathroom every time that I shower?

So I have received my new MB and I thought I'd try turning on the old one as I'm halfway through my Masters dissertation, so thought I would see if there was anyway of getting the information from the old MB onto the new one. So it has turned on but my tracking pad is not working. The pointer appears to be stuck in the top left hand corner. I've tried to do S+Command+? so the top bar highlights and managed to close down the programs. However what I need is a way to get into migration assistant to move the information onto my new MB. I appreciate the old MB is knackered and the insurance are coming to collect it this week. Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to click the migration assistant option?

be connected and work with an old Macbook (or other USB A gen 2.0 or 3.0 computer) using an adapter like in the picture for example?
If so:
Can I then connect a power adapter, e.g. "Apple 61w usb-c power adapter" or a regular smartphone USB C power adapter to the **PD port on the USB C dock** to deliver power to the dock so as the dock now becomes a **powered usb hub**? (I know it'll not charge the old Mac though. A powered dock/hub is required for more power-hungry devices like several external HDD.)
[I'm concerned that the new dock may damage the old USB A port, especially when the power adapter is connected to the PD port so as the dock tries to send power to the old USB A. For new USB C it detects when the port "wants" to get power and it'll also power the devices connected to the dock along with the computer. The intention with the old Macbook is to power only the dock and the connected peripherals]
Thanks!

I have an iphone X that suddenly decided to stop booting. It was getting full and I was trying to delete some photos and videos to free up space when suddenly it wouldn't let me delete any files. I decided to restart the phone and now it won't fully boot up and my MacBook won't recognize the phone when I plug it in. The phone, when I try to start it up, will briefly show the apple logo, but does not boot. I took it to the apple store and they suggested that the motherboard might have a problem.
Is there any way I can extract my photos and videos from the flash memory inside the phone? I've seen a video where someone [extracts a flash memory chip from an iphone and uses it as a USB drive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqWLSK2lgsI) , but he doesn't bother recovering data. In another video, this same person also is able to [recover data by removing CPU, EEPROM, and flash memory and install these in a new phone to recover data](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58-7cg9cYNY) , but this looks like a real pain.
Does anyone know if there's a way to interface with the phone like an external drive just to pull the photos off? The fact that it shows the apple logo briefly suggests that the screen is fine and that it's able to at least partially load some firmware. I'd very much like to get a few of these photos as they feature a now-deceased family member.

Eight years ago I was gifted an ipod touch nano (generation 7, A1446). A few days later, I forgot it in my shirt, which went through a regular washing machine cycle. Surprisingly, the ipod still works: It charges the battery, it displays icons and streams music - but the touchscreen doesn't react at all. I just found it in a forgotten drawer when house cleaning.
Can the screen be repaired, preferably by someone who is fearless but has very moderate hardware and repair skills?
Or is there any other way than touch by which I can operate the device?
Meanwhile I found that I can buy LCD replacement and LCD plus digitizer replacement parts. Should I assume that the digitizer is broken?
