Last night I was driving home and said "hey siri, play metric". Metric is a local band and I have one of their albums on my iPhone. Siri responded by subscribing me to Apple Music and playing the songs from there. I have noticed similar things in the past. I will ask it to play an artist or album that I have on my phone, and it previously would tell me I don't have Apple Music and would not play it. Is there some way to turn this off, or some magic phrase I can use to tell it to look only in my local library? I do not have Apple Music and will never subscribe, I simply want to listen to the (large amount) of music I already have.

I'm trying to run an Applescript that centers the window with focus. The shortcut works well, but when I try to use voice command with Siri a "System Event" error occurs, apparently Siri does not have access authorization. Someone has already seen this problem. Screenshot showing the error. Translation of the error from Portuguese to English: I'm sorry, there was a problem. Shortcuts say: "System Events got a Error: Shortcuts is an assistive access no Allowed."

This issue has been driving me nuts: if I listen to music or a podcast, pause it, and then activate Siri using “Hey Siri,” the moment the Siri interaction ends it resumes playing the music/podcast, even though it has been paused before. This is natural behavior for when I interrupt playing audio, but very annoying when I’m driving with no music on. I’ve tested this and it happens with Spotify and the Apple Podcasts app, suggesting it’s a system-level issue. It doesn’t happen if there’s nothing playing in the “now playing” drop down in control center. It also doesn’t happen is I force quit the audio app before activating Siri. Is there some setting I can tweak to change this behavior, or is this just a bug?

Normally triggered by "Hey Siri," however just general conversation in the office is triggering the popup below. It can popup every 20 seconds with words that sound slightly like 'Siri' which has been frustrating to watch, let alone the staff member. How do we stop this popup? I often use Siri to play songs on my iPhone 12 Pro while driving. After recently updating to iOS 18.5 Siri always responds with: *"I couldn't find SONGNAME in your Apple music Library"*. Despite that I can manually navigate to said files and play them with Apple Music. All the music is stored on my phone and I do not use any subscription services to access music. I can still use Siri to play songs via playlists, just not individual song names like I used to. There is chatter about this issue in this subreddit but nothing substantial, only mentions of other users having similar issues with 18.5. # Steps I have tried to remedy the problem: - In another subreddit a users suggests toggling > Settings > Apps > Music > Show Apple Music, but doing this had no effect. - I also tried restarting my phone but that didn't work either. - Synching all songs and playlists from Itunes on PC. None of these worked. Does anyone know how I can restore the original functionality of Siri to be able to ask it to play specific songs?

For some reason, when driving focus is enabled, and Siri is connected to my car’s Bluetooth, Siri is not audible. For the longest time I thought that driving focus was busted entirely because the screen would light up, the Siri animation would flash for a while, but would not do anything. I eventually figured out that it was responding, asking for a follow up yes or no or the like, but since I wasn’t giving it a confirmation, it would just time out. Volume on maps, Waze, music is fine, just Siri. Pressing volume up on either the car or the iPhone does nothing while Siri is speaking. If I put in earbuds, then I can now hear Siri talk, and everything seems to work… But how do I get the volume on Siri to work with my car’s Bluetooth? It is a 10-year-old Toyota, no CarPlay, fairly dumb audio on the car (‘press talk button and say yes to confirm”)

I was demonstrating Siri yesterday to my friend, showing how it can search the internet for random images (show me an ***image*** of a chickadee, a Volkswagen GTI, Albert Einstein, a pressure cooker, etc.) and it was pulling images from the web until I had it search pit-bulls using the phrase "show me a ***picture*** of a pit bull." Siri found and displayed images of my 2 pit-bulls _from the Photos app on the iPhone!_ It would not find any images when I searched using the dog's names, however. When I tested this same search phrase with "German Shepherd" it found images of three other dogs in Photos, which are shepherd _mixes_, not pure breeds. Most of the selected images were basically face-on (two eyes looking at the camera, floppy ears, etc,) but some are from the side and it found them even though pit #1 has a narrow face, pit #2 has a block-head, and none of the shepherds have the typical erect ears. I know that facial recognition is pretty far advanced in iOS, but I had no idea it could recognize dog breeds, and I was amazed that using "show me a picture" searches the Photos app. What is more disturbing is that I deliberately set Siri not to search inside the Photos app: enter image description here Does anybody have a clue what is going on? I realize this question may be interpreted as a 'why Apple does something' query, and I will accept a downvote or two. I'll delete the question if folks think its immaterial in the long run. I'm mystified.

I've been a Spotify user for a while and appreciate that based on a genre, an artist, or even a single song, it can automatically create a playlist with that genre or with similar artists/songs that go well together. Is there a way I can replicate that with Apple Music? We recently got a Home Pod, so we got the free trial for 6 months of Apple Music. But whenever I ask Siri for something like, "90s rock" then it plays an album that has 90s rock in the title (always telling me "by various artists") – but it doesn't create it's own playlist and also doesn't seem to learn our prefs.

I often use the "Hey Siri" function to switch between playlists or different artists in my itunes library (mostly while driving). After some recent update sometime within the last year, there is always a message saying "there was a network problem getting Apple Music" The music always eventually plays, but there is just the error about the network issue being presented by Siri prior to the music starting. It should be noted that I only ever play music & playlists that are on my iPhone, and that I never use cloud based or online services to play my music files. It should be noted that this problem doesn't occur when I am at home and my phone is connected to my home wifi network. Also, 'Show Apple Music' is disabled in the music settings on the phone. Running iOS 16.6.1 on iPhone12 pro

I am someone that is pretty forgetful and have the tendency to not remember exact sentences that trigger automations on the Shortcuts App. This leads to me having to open the app every time I want to trigger an automation to see what's its name. Since I have to open the app and see the actual sentence, I often just click it instead of just telling Siri the sentence. I would like to **set several sentences as the triggers** for Shortcuts actions so that I can associate more generic sentences to the correct action. Example:
I want to preheat the car.

- "Hey Siri, preheat the car."
- "Hey Siri, warmup the car."
- "Hey Siri, I'm going to drive."
- "Hey Siri, heat the car."
- "Hey Siri, cooldown the car."
All of those sentences should trigger the same action. So can I define several sentences as a trigger for the shortcuts when interacting with Siri? Or, is the only input going to be exactly what you type in the name of the shortcut action?

Siri reads out the two addresses, and then gives me a voice prompt to pick one, but when I say one of them back it just loops back to the "Which email address for..." prompt. Anyone know what to say here? I've tried just saying the domain of the address, "one", "the first one", the entire email address, but none of them work.

I have a 2019 macbook pro running macos 13.7.3 and in the past few days it has randomly said "I'm having a hard time hearing you" twice. It had never done this previously and both times I hadn't actually said anything. I also can't reproduce the issue, if I try to intentionally prompt it with things it just doesn't respond. I'm assuming it's something to do with siri so after the first time it happened I ensured to disable siri and then after the second time it happened siri was somehow reenabled. Also of note the "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" setting has never been enabled. So I guess I have two issues: 1) Why is my macbook trying to hear me? 2) How do I permanently disable siri?
