What does an error 500 in Apple Music mean?
**Update**: Adding new items directly to my library instead of via a playlist gives a more helpful error message, stating "These additions would exceed the Cloud Music Library limit of 100,000 songs". So I think error 500 probably means the same thing.

I tried running Music in safe mode, and got the same behaviour.
How do I restore the ability to control music playing on my Mac from my iPhone?
I'm running Music 1.5.5.34 on my M1 Pro laptop running Sequoia 15.5, and iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 18.5.

MacOs: Prevent Apple Music from launching when clicking AirPods Pro

Clicking the AirPods causes Apple Music to launch and start playing on a Mac. I could understand playing if I already had Music open, but this is just ridiculous behavior. I get that sometimes it's going to guess wrong about which device I want to be connected to, but is there any way to not *launch* Apple Music?

Fix Music.app metadata from cloud?
Many of the songs in my Apple Music Library have inconsistent metadata (years missing, titles misspelled, etc.) This is weird, because it was once all correct. I suspect that Apple hasn't migrated my music properly over the years. Is there any way to "fix" the metadata by going to cloud databases?

I have a large music library (200GB/14.000 tracks), with files spanning well over a decade. I'm on a temporary Mac for the next month or two, so I'm keeping the files and library on an extremely fast external SSD (Sandisk Extreme Pro - Thunderbolt 3).
When I quit the Music app on macOS, a popup alert window that reads "Saving Music Library..." appears, and then just... doesn't go away. The program is not unresponsive according to the Finder/the Force Quit dialogue.
It's just trying to save, and it's taking forever.
I don't know if this is an SSD issue or not.
The library contains thousands of hours of work, so I'm apprehensive about cutting down the library.
Setup:
- MacBook Pro M1 Max
- 64GB memory
- Music Version 1.2.4.
As a layman, I would hope I could look at logs or something, to see what may be causing these delays. Is there a way to isolate or troubleshoot this sort of problem?

My music licensing business uses Filemaker and quite a few Applescripts as part of its day to day operations. For years we have been running everything on OS 10.14 without any issues. We recently updated our OS to 12.1. Many of the Applescripts are now broken. I've spent the better part of the day trying to get one that imports music files into Music (the script used to use iTunes), sets all the tags, and converts them to other file formats and found that many of the steps simply do not trigger seemingly from permissions issues. Changing:
set newfile to ("path to file")
to
set newfile to alias ("path to file")
fixed the ability to import the music track in. I also ran:
-e 'tell application "Music" to activate'
from Terminal to see if that would fix the permission, and and that did fix many of the steps if I run the script from the Script Editor. However, the scripts need to run from Filemaker. So, 1) is there a similar command I can run to allow FileMaker to run the scripts without issue (I tried adding Filemaker to the Privacy Pane - both Accessibility and Full Disk Access - but no luck), and 2) are there "general" best steps when upgrading Applescripts to work with OS 12? Thanks for any help!
Update: In Security & Privacy > Automation, I do also have FileMaker Pro allowed to control Finder and Music.

I see no way to mark it “favorite” nor any way to bookmark it. Ironically, as a workaround I can bookmark that URL in a web browser like Safari on my iPad mini, then opening that bookmark jumps to the desired content in *Apple Music* app. Surely there must be an easier route. Why would Apple create such a great resource while effectively hiding it?

As of now, I can just copy paste raw lyrics, which won't sync with the song!
Edit: I'm on Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004, Build 19541.
iTunes is the iTunes64Setup.exe file install, not the Microsoft Store version, version: 12.10.3.1
I've seen other answers , and tried what they suggested, which worked, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.
See, what I could do right now is, go to a specific song in my song Library, right click it and go to Song Info, then Lyrics, and add Custom Lyrics. This works, and I'm able to view those static, unsynchronized lyrics on my iPhone.
But I wanna see if I can go a step further, **adding *synchronized* lyrics**, see how in some services, Apple Music maybe, or Spotify, the lyrics will auto scroll, or slide to the next line/verse as the song goes on. Similar to how Subtitles work in movies.
So is this something that could be done? Either using iTunes or any other software!

Given an album ID (e.g. 1646945378) and a track ID (e.g. 1646945384), is there a way to add a track to the library using AppleScript/JXA?
- macOS: Sonoma 14.2
- Music: 1.4.2.83
---
I know you can do something like
duplicate current track to playlist "Library"
Ideally, I don’t want to play the track before adding it to my library, but I can’t find a way to get a shared track
object from just the album and track IDs.
I have figured out how to open the album and select the track:
set albumID to "1646945378"
set trackID to "1646945384"
tell application "Music" to open location "itmss://geo.music.apple.com/album/" & albumID & "?i=" & trackID & "&ls=1&app=music"
However, I can’t get the selected track. This code logs empty lists:
tell application "Music"
log (get browser window 1's selection)
log (get selection)
-- Because an album, not a playlist, is being browsed, ‘get browser 1's view’ doesn’t work either
end tell
As a last resort, I thought I could try manually clicking the add to library button, but I can’t figure out how to tell if a track is selected or not as all of the UI elements seem to have selected:missing value
.
tell application "System Events"
tell process "Music"
set tracksList to get window 1's splitter group 1's scroll area 2's list 1's list 2
set trackGroups to tracksList's groups
-- With the example track above, the first track is selected
set t1 to get trackGroups's item 1
set t2 to get trackGroups's item 2
-- Each group has one child UI element: another group. This group contains stuff like
-- the track number, name, buttons, etc.
log (get t1's properties) -- focused:missing value, selected:missing value
log (get t2's properties) -- focused:missing value, selected:missing value
log (get t1's group 1's properties) -- focused:false, selected:missing value
log (get t2's group 1's properties) -- focused:false, selected:missing value
end tell
end tell
I could use the Apple Music API to get the track number of the track I want to add to my library (or in my specific use-case I wouldn’t even need to use the API to do this) and click the add to library button that way.
However, this all seems quite tedious and annoying for something that I believe should be a builtin AppleScript command. Is there a better/easier way of doing this?

Is there a way I can replicate that with Apple Music?
We recently got a Home Pod, so we got the free trial for 6 months of Apple Music. But whenever I ask Siri for something like, "90s rock" then it plays an album that has 90s rock in the title (always telling me "by various artists") – but it doesn't create it's own playlist and also doesn't seem to learn our prefs.

I often use the "Hey Siri" function to switch between playlists or different artists in my itunes library (mostly while driving). After some recent update sometime within the last year, there is always a message saying "there was a network problem getting Apple Music"
The music always eventually plays, but there is just the error about the network issue being presented by Siri prior to the music starting. It should be noted that I only ever play music & playlists that are on my iPhone, and that I never use cloud based or online services to play my music files.
It should be noted that this problem doesn't occur when I am at home and my phone is connected to my home wifi network. Also, 'Show Apple Music' is disabled in the music settings on the phone.

The User Guide for Apple Classical says :

But I am finding copies of albums appearing on my iPad in the Settings app, on
General > iPad Storage > Music
panel. I have only used the Apple Classical app, not the Apple Music app.
So what is triggering this local caching? Is it when I press the star icon or choose to “favorite” an album? And how is marking a favorite different than “Add to Library”? And what is the Library, does that mean keep a copy locally?
Is there a way to just remember an album so I can return to it later without making a download copy?

I started using Apple Music recently and I've been unable to achieve the functionality I hoped would exist with this subscription. Can someone tell me if my goals are impossible with iTunes?
I'm bit of an old school playlist freak and I'm used to downloading music from torrent, bandcamp, etc. and then manually managing playlist on my Macbook before plugging in my iPhone and uploading. I wanted to move into the future so I made an Apple Music account and tried selecting songs from the Apple store and adding them to my pre-existing playlists. But when I tried, I received a notice saying I had to upload my music library to iCloud Drive before I can songs to my playlists. I'm guessing since my library is like 10,000 songs (~200 gb), uploading to the drive does not seem to work. I left my computer on for 5 days and nothing seemed to happen. Except now when I try to play any local file from iTunes, the app crashes, seizes the external hard drive that stores the music, and then my computer doesn't shutdown until I do a force shutdown. And it appears iTunes is trying to make duplicate playlist of my already existing playlist which I don't want either. But if I browse the Apple music store on my iPhone and add them to playlists on the phone, it appears to work.
So basically is it possible to add apple music files to playlists with local files on the Macbook and then transfer/update the playlists on my iPhone? Or should I give up and just export my iTunes playlist to Spotify where I can create new playlist from the Spotify database?
I am using a 2017 Macbook Pro running macOS Mojave v10.14.6 and my iTunes is Version 12.9.5.5
