Here's the setup… Computer A - Running Transmission - placing files in a Dropbox folder - Uses iTunes Match to load music from Computer B's iTunes library - Is always running Computer B - Shares Dropbox folder with Computer A - Is "master" computer for iTunes Match account - Is not always running Current process 1. Download files via transmission to dropbox folder 2. Start computer B, wait for dropbox folder to synchronize 3. Copy files to "Automatically Added to iTunes folder" What I want is to have a folder action that when Computer B sees new files in the dropbox folder it will wait till all file transfers are complete, then copy just the new files into **"Automatically added to iTunes"** All of my current tries have caused Automator to re-add all files in the dropbox folder to iTunes, creating duplicates. One limitation to be aware of — unaltered versions of the files must stay in the dropbox folder.

I've been unable to get a simple, clear conclusive/official answer to this question: Does Apple Music truly include *all* of the feature set of iTunes Match? Bonus question below. My situation: 1. I am a subscriber to both iTunes Match and Apple Music 2. I'm considering upgrading to the Apple One family plan since for just a tiny bit more money over the year, I would get a lot more iCloud storage. I really don't care about any of the other things in One. 3. If upgrading to One, I would want to drop iTunes Match which renews end of this month. If I were to do this, would I lose anything when iTunes Match drops, given I still have Apple Music? Wondering what I've been paying for all these years that I've had both. From my research so far, I'm getting very confusing and often contradictory information on whether or not iTunes Match is now a part of Apple Music, if only certain specific features of iTunes match have been rolled into Apple Music, or if they are in fact totally different things (still) that address very different issues and therefore both are still needed if you are say, a musician who has a lot of "unknown" tracks in your library that will never be matched by Apple Music.

I decided that I want to sign up for iTunes Match. But I'm not sure how I can, or even if I can. I visited the "[Subscribe to iTunes Match](https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204146) " page on the Apple Support site and it says, "To subscribe to iTunes Match, update your Mac to the latest version of macOS." Well, in our household there are 5 Macs. The newest one is from 2016. So none of these machines will run the latest version of macOS, which right now is macOS Ventura. So my questions are: - Is it actually true that one cannot sign up for iTunes Match on any Mac running anything earlier than macOS 13? That seems pretty extreme to me. - Suppose I borrow (or even buy) a new Mac that *will* run macOS 13, and then use that to sign up for iTunes Match by following the instructions on the support page. Will I then be able to use iTunes Match or any of its features on any of my other, older Macs? (The Apple support page isn't clear on what version of macOS is required to actually *use* iTunes Match.) Certainly, some of my older machines run older versions of iTunes and those seem to be aware that iTunes Match is a thing. But if I signed up on a newer machine, would those older machines with older iTunes versions actually work fine (or at all) with iTunes Match? In short, I am *suspicious* of Apple's stated requirements to *sign up* for iTunes Match, and I am *unable to find* any stated requirements for *using* iTunes Match. If anyone can provide some definitive answers on this, that would be awesome. Many thanks!

I just noticed that some of my songs that Apple Music is marking as Uploaded rather than Matched, are actually greyed out on the album page within Apple Music. If I try to add these streaming versions to my library, these tracks are unplayable, and have a dotted cloud icon as well as a message saying that they are no longer available. So, I guess the obvious reason these particular tracks aren't getting matched is that they are not actually in the Apple Music catalog. *However*, if I look up the same album in the iTunes Store, more often than not I find that the tracks are available for purchase. Does iTunes Match match tracks to a different catalog than Apple Music? I guess what I'm saying is, if I were to cancel my Apple Music subscription and get an iTunes Match subscription (something I've been thinking of doing), would it only match my tracks against the iTunes Store's catalog instead of Apple Music's, to see if they are in there? Or are the services actually supposed to check both catalogs? It seems like the timings and metadata (and likely the music files themselves) are the exact same between the two services, but if each service only checks its respective catalog, and I run into cases like this where one service has something that the other doesn't... it makes me wonder if I really need *both* services, in order to check my music against everything that Apple has available out there?

I have a little over 9000 songs. Between yesterday and this morning, iTunes Match is finally done evaluating and uploading songs, and it seems to have made a few mistakes. If I show the iCloud Status column in my song list, in a number of albums I'll see "Matched" for most of the tracks, but "Uploaded" for one or more track. If I look up that song/album/artist on the iTunes Store, Apple has those songs. I've even looked at the track info to see if they might have been encoded differently, but on the few I've spot checked they have the same encoding as the other songs in the album that were matched. I've been able to force iTunes Match to re-evaluate songs that showed "Error" before (no errors now), but I can't seem to figure out how to force it to re-evaluate these songs that were non-matches even though they're in the store. How do we do this? Do I turn off iTunes Match and start over again? I've been reluctant to do so considering how long it took yesterday.

I used to be able to download all of the songs in a playlist from iCloud at once in Music, but the download button is no longer showing in the playlist title area it used to. It does show next to individual songs that haven't been downloaded, however selecting all and right-clicking now longer shows a download button in the context menu either. The only way I have found to download more than one is to go to the album, and the download button shows in the album title area. Any ideas on how to re-enable the download button? Is this a bug? Note: it does not seem to make a difference if the playlist only contains content I have purchased, uploaded with iTunes Match, or added to my library from Apple Music. Fortunately Apple Music/iTunes records which tracks are no longer available, but this has happened for about 100 tracks in my library now. Has anyone else encountered this/figured out a workaround?

I am only now switching to using Apple's Ecosystem for my music, and don't completely seem to understand some concepts. I have played around with using iTunes to bringing an existing CD collection onto iOS devices -- classical ripping to AAC seems to work fine. It is my understanding that I can also just import MP3 and AAC collections into my iTunes library and sync those to my iOS devices (essentially a one-way copying process). Now, iTunes Match offers three main features: - Matching my local collection with Apple's, thus giving me (potentially) better encoding quality. - Making music available through the cloud, making it shareable with my family (which would otherwise be trivially replicated by putting music files into other peoples' iTunes collection). - Making storage management on iOS devices easier by pulling songs from the cloud only when needed. So, do I understand this right? If so, is it fair to say that for a competent user (who knows how to create good-quality CD rips and how to copy files to another user's account), the only remaining selling point of iTunes Match is that an iOS device can automatically manage its music storage and save some space?

I used iTunes to rip a CD of a homemade audio recording of a friend. iTunes thought it recognized the CD but was way off (it guessed a lecture series about ancient history). However, when I looked at the actual CD's content via Finder, oddly enough, it was divided into arbitrary 5-minute tracks, and two of the tracks had names corresponding to what iTunes had guessed (about ancient history) and the others were generically named. I have no idea if there were tracks or track titles before I imported it with iTunes. Having either of these doesn't make any sense as it's an hour-long speech without logical places for tracks let alone to name one of them "Byzantine Empire". *(Also what's curious about this is that the actual speaker's first name is the same as the professor of ancient history that iTunes had guessed. I'm wondering if there was some metadata on the CD when I received it, which iTunes used to make this conclusion.)* So I have to ask: **Is iTunes capable of changing the metadata on the actual CD to match what it thought it was?** The CD is probably read-only (I don't have permission to change it to "Read & Write" in Get Info), but maybe iTunes has a work-around.

**Edit in response to this question being a duplicate.** This is not a duplicate as I am asking how to delete any song from any artist off of cloud storage, not just U2's *Songs of Innocence*. The link given that provides the supposed answer will only delete the U2 album, *Songs of Innocence* from the cloud storage. Yes, *Songs of Innocence* prompted me to try and delete songs from the cloud storage, but I have additional songs I want deleted. I have already detailed in my question how that link does not help me, nor solve this question, as it only works for the one U2 album. I recently used iPad to listen to some music only to find out I had U2's *Songs of Innocence* album. I wasn't too bothered until one of their songs started playing. I decided I would like to delete their album from both the iPad and the iCloud. Also there were a few other songs I had purchased prior that I wanted to delete from both my iPad and the iCloud. Here is the list of things I tired to accomplish this feat. **1. I went online to see how to delete the album and was redirected here:** itunes.com/soi-remove But, there are other songs in on my iCloud that I have purchased and I would like to delete. Which leads to number two. **2. I searched the web and found this:** How do you delete songs from Icloud on Iphone Ultimately, the accepted answer in that thread was to do this: Go to *Settings* > *iTunes & App* Stone and shut off *Music* under the *SHOW ALL* category. and Go to *Settings* > *Music* and shut off *Show All Music*. That will hide the songs from your iPad (or other apple device) but it will not actually delete the songs from the iCloud. If I turn those settings back on, I will see those songs again. **3. I found this:** Delete songs and music videos from your iTunes library with an iTunes Match subscription It details how to delete songs from the iCloud, but it requires iTunes Match and iTunes Match costs $24.99 a year. I'm not about to spend money to delete songs from iCloud that I purchased. **4. I tried 3rd party software.** I searched around the internet some more and ended up downloading the app *Document 5* on my iPad, but that app was unable to even see the song files on iCloud (although the app can view and delete other types of files stored on iCloud). **5. I tried deleting the songs through my iCloud account.** I tried signing into iCloud.com from my computer and yet again, there is no way to view songs on your iCloud through your iCloud.com account. I can view other files, like documents and photos, and I can delete them, but I can't view or delete song files. **6. I searched apple.stackexchange.com and www.reddit.com/r/apple.** Basically, this leads to the same answers. I need iTunes Match and that costs money. __________ I want to not only delete the U2 album, but also other songs on my iCloud. Yes, I will most likely use the link to delete the U2 album, but am I really expected to pay money or use a special service when I want to delete other songs from iCloud? I would like to be able to have control over the music I purchase and there are some songs that I would like to delete for good and not just hide them from view, knowing that I can just re-download them off the cloud at a later date. However, it seems Apple has made it so I cannot view or modify my song files on iCloud without either purchasing an iTunes Match subscription or using the U2 album removal link (which will only work for that album). So, I ask: **Is there any way to delete songs from iCloud without an iTunes Match subscription?**
