I would like to use my favourite torrent client, Transmission, over a VPN service but at the same time I do not want to direct any other traffic therethrough. That is, I want to use my VPN service only for torrenting with the Transmission client.
I intend to use NordVPN service and I am coming across 2 problems:
1. NordVPN offers IKEv2 and OpenVPN protocols on Mac and I'm not sure
whether and how I can connect to this VPN so that NOT all traffic is
directed therethrough. As for the IKEv2 settings in Mac's Network
Preferences, there is no "Send all traffic over VPN connection"
option to keep unchecked, like it is for L2TP VPN protocol on Mac.
As for the OpenVPN protocol, I'm not sure if this is possible with
Tunnelblick for example or other client.
2. Let's say I solve the first
problem and I'm connected to the VPN service without sending all the
traffic therethrough. How can I now make Transmission to use
that specific network interface whereon I'm connected to the VPN?
I searched Google and I have found some procedures/methods but I am none the wiser thereon.
E.g.:
1. Transmission Interface Binder - this one seems outdated
2. docker-transmission-openvpn - could be working but I am totally lost
hereon.
3. For Ubuntu , but perhaps could be employed on Mac too but I
have no idea on what they talk about there
4. Ditto
I should appreciate
some advice from the more experienced or knowledgeable
hereabout.

How do I transfer my **Transmission 3.0 torrents, torrent data files, and colour tags/labels** from 1 Macbook Pro to another.
- My old Transmission app is in the old Macbook Pro MacOS boot ssd on a 2.5" OCZ vertex 4 ssd ~128GB. The actual torrent data files, 960 GB of anime, is on 2.5" HGST HDD 1000GB inside a macCaddy in the Superdrive slot. MacOS El Capitaine.
- I plan to remove the MacCaddy and HGST drive from the old MAcbook and place it into the new Macbook's Superdrive bay.
- The new Macbook Pro MacOS Catalina boots off a 2.5" OCZ 460 Vertex ssd ~256GB. How do I put transmission app settings into that drive and have it recognize the location of the torrents in the new HGST Hdd 1000GB drive?
Note:
1. On my old Mac I customized it so that my **Home Folder** (Documents, Downloads, Music, Photos, etc) was stored on my huge 1000GB HGST Hdd, it is **not on the MacOS boot drive**.
2. Transmission automatically puts my anime torrents in my Downloads folder so my data is targeted to go on my HGST drive automatically.
3. This setting will be important to transfer from my old Mac to my new Mac.

Here's the setup…
Computer A
- Running Transmission
- placing files in a Dropbox folder
- Uses iTunes Match to load music from Computer B's iTunes library
- Is always running
Computer B
- Shares Dropbox folder with Computer A
- Is "master" computer for iTunes Match account
- Is not always running
Current process
1. Download files via transmission to dropbox folder
2. Start computer B, wait for dropbox folder to synchronize
3. Copy files to "Automatically Added to iTunes folder"
What I want is to have a folder action that when Computer B sees new files in the dropbox folder it will wait till all file transfers are complete, then copy just the new files into **"Automatically added to iTunes"**
All of my current tries have caused Automator to re-add all files in the dropbox folder to iTunes, creating duplicates.
One limitation to be aware of — unaltered versions of the files must stay in the dropbox folder.

When looking at the Apple app store, I can't find my torrent clients that I typically use on Android/Ubuntu/Windows.
I don't want to pay for a seedbox or some other [third-part downloader](https://www.torrentsafe.com/) .

How can I migrate user data from uTorrent Classic to uTorrent Web?
----
Ideally, I would like to keep both list of torrents and download state.
It *looks like*
resume.dat
can be migrated--though I can't find whether the format is the same.
It's unclear:
- where to place all the .torrent
files to be properly picked up by uT Web.
- whether those torrents originally added to uT Classic as magnet links will be picked up by uT Web
- is there anything else I can/should consider migrating--and how
----
RESEARCH DONE:
There is nothing relevant on the topic:
- migration overall: [this is the closest](https://help.bittorrent.com/en/support/solutions/articles/29000039597-how-do-i-migrate-torrents-from-a-different-client-to-bittorrent-) I've got from the uTorrent team, and it's about reverse migration from uT Web to uT Classic
- similar question on user support forum is replied by other user "you can try ... and see what happens"; no official representative ever joined the conversation. *-- I tried, with and without copying .torrent
files to ~/Library/Application Support/uTorrent Web
: always result in empty list of downloads*
- .torrents location: two questions on user support forum, both unanswered: [1] (https://forum.utorrent.com/topic/111055-where-are-torrent-files-stored/), (https://forum.utorrent.com/topic/109548-where-are-torrent-stored/)

[The only problem I have with uTorrent is that occasionally it doesn't respect the upload limit. This is a known issue, and no setting seems to fix it in my case.]
I am looking for these features:
1. Ability to select files to download (in case of multi-file torrent) BEFORE the download begins
2. Show transfer rates in the dock icon
3. Assign relative priorities to files within a torrent
4. Good, clean UI (optional)
5. No bloatware/adware like a built in media player, ads, yahoo-search-plugins, etc (optional)

When using the app [Transmission](https://transmissionbt.com) for bit torrent downloads, something will happen to the network stack that causes all applications using networking to hang. This problem will persist, it seems, until the system is rebooted.
This is a [known issue](https://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/1201) reported in 2008 but it has not been resolved because the developers claim that it is a problem with the operating system. I'm running High Sierra and seeing this problem occur consistently after between 2 hours and a few days of starting Transmission.
Is there a known workaround or solution for this problem?

macOS 10.12.6
The application dot in the Dock is on and is not responding. Force quit doesn't help.
ps ax
doesn't show this process. Neither does launchctl list
. Neither does Activity Monitor.app. I don't know any other way to kill a process that simply doesn't exist. However, it prevents a reboot and cannot be relaunched or deleted (Finder says it's open). The only way is to hard-reset the machine. Any ideas?
killall Finder
& kilall Dock
does nothing.
