I have a setup where I use the same (PC) keyboard for my **PC** and my **Mac mini** using a switch box. I switch back and forth between the two all the time - and in order to stay sane I have re-mapped many of the Mac shortcuts/keys using the **Karabiner tool**, so they function as they do on my PC (keys like Cut, Paste, Home, End, etc... ). But I don't seem to be able to find a mapping in Karabiner that makes PgUp and PgDn work the same way on Mac as it does on PC. When I press PgUp / PgDn on Mac it scrolls the page, **but don't seem to move the cursor**. Funny enough - if I press ALT (Option) + PgUp and ALT + PgDn it does exactly what I want. **So basically, how do I get the PgUp to work as ALT + PgUp and PgDn to work as ALT + PgDn?**

itunes keeps autofill music on my iphone 7. I have "manually manage music" checked device summary page in itunes & the "prevent ipods, iphones, &ipads from syncing automatically" option check in device preferences. However when I delete songs from the iphone itunes will start automatically coping / autofilling songs to the iphone. I'd like this to stop so that I can delete a bunch of songs then manually add new ones I want. Seems like itunes isn't looking at/obeying/caring about settings. It looks like itunes wants to fill in "missing" songs on the iphone i.e. the songs with gray dotted circles in the left hand column. I'd like it NOT to do this automagically. What else do I need to do to not have it do this? I could delete them on the iphones but I'd like to see which ones are missing before I do that. Is there a solution for this?

My sister used to be a mac user and recently switched to a PC. She has her mac stuff backed up on two hard drives, one is formatted as a time machine. We've transferred all her important files to the other one that is not a time machine, so the time machine one is empty. She wants to use the time machine one as a backup drive for her PC but I"m not sure how to get it to reformat... help?

I had a huge photo library on my PC (Windows 11 pro) so I installed iCloud (15.2.157) and copied all my files in the iCloud Photos folder. Many pictures were uploaded (I have a lot) but not all of them. I noticed that some subfolders had been ignored by iCloud, so I tried removing them and pasting the contents in the root iCloud Photos folder. It worked to some extent but it seems some pictures are still missing. Right now here is my situation : - my windows iCloud Photos folder contains 17.740 items (16.879 pictures and 861 videos) all in the root folder (50gb) - according to my iCloud client (and iCloud.com), my library contains 12.723 pictures and 356 videos for a total of 37.1gb I tried rebooting my PC to no avail. If I add some new pictures to this iCloud photos folder they get uploaded just fine. It seems I have 5.000 pictures in the limbo. They are not lost, but I'd really like to push them to my online library. What else could I try? Is there a way to force a resync? should I remove all my pictures (eg copy them to another folder on my PC) and then paste them back?

Is there a way to get call notifications and alerts on Windows 10 from my iPhone? I spend a lot of time on PC and I always get missed calls. Also my room has no signal so I put my iPhone in the main living area. Whatsapp gives that ability to connect it to your PC and get notified when someone calls and sends messages to your PC, is there anything similar but for regular calls and messages?

I would like to copy files from my Windows PC to the root directory of the "On My iPad" section of the Files app via USB cable. I am using Windows 11 and iPadOS 15.8.2. What I mean by "root directory" is the files you get in the topmost directory when you simply select "On My iPad" in the left column of the Files app, under the "Locations" heading. I can't seem to find the place in iTunes to copy it, but I did find the place to browse files from other apps. I tried 3uTools as well, but I'm not sure where to go.

I have a Win PC and an older Ipad3 (iOS 9.3.6) which I want to use as a PDF reader. Right now I copy the PDFs from my PC to iDrive/iCloud. On the iPad, in the iCloud app I "Share/Send" the files to iBooks (I think it's called "Books" now, but I have the older version). I go through transfer times: 1) PC to iDrive, 2) "Send to iBooks" on the Ipad. Since both devices are in my home, I want to eliminate these transfer times. I found some reader apps for my iPad which let me transfer PDFs by typing a URL on my PC browser. But these book apps aren't as good as iBooks (no double tap to zoom in on just the printed area, no tap on the right to flip page). I also tried connecting via the 30-pin dock to USB drive, but the iPad doesn't see the drive. My questions: 1) Where are the files I see in the iBooks app on my iPad (with "Categories" etc) actually stored? Are they on my iPad? In the cloud? 2) Is there any way to directly transfer PDFs from my PC to that iBooks storage? 3) Is there another reader app on the iPad that has these 2 features, like iBooks: a) double-tap to zoom in on just the printed area, b) tap on the right to flip page?

I'm trying to help my friend backup her entire photocollection 25k+ images from Icloud. However her macbook pro mid 2012 has a history of crashing so we thought we might use my win 10 pc instead. I downloaded the Icloud program, signed in and selected a folder to sync all the pictures to. Sometime during the syncing process i got the message: "The files have been deleted from iCloud Photos on all your devices and moved to the Recently Deleted folder on Apple devices. You will have 30 days to recover them." I proceeded to terminate the process and recover the 8 photos that had been moved. Why would this happen and what can i do to stop it if i want to sync the photos? The plan now is to either *try* and use her macbook or download everything from privacy.apple

I would like to be able to use the Wake On LAN feature to wake up my Mac Mini from my Windows PC, and I have tried two different programs (Solar Winds and NirSoft) but it is not working. 1. I have already enabled "Wake for Network Access" in the settings on my Mac Mini. 2. I have Mac Mini connected to my (Linksys) router with an Ethernet cable. 3. I have a Windows 10 PC connected to the same router over WiFi. 4. I can use VNC to screen share and control my Mac Mini from my PC. This works really well. 5. I can ping the Mac Mini (when it is on) from my PC and it responds. Any ideas on how to close the loop on this?

I download a lot of music from my PC iTunes to my iPhone iTunes. On the PC you have the option to choose the "Artwork" of each song you have on there, which I always personally choose, to fit with the song and/or artist you know, but once I drag them to my iPhone, on my iPhone in iTunes the songs are there, but with random pictures that I used in the past. How do I change that to make sure the pictures I chose on my laptop, stay while going on my iPhone?

I am logged into my work PC through GoToMyPC on my Mac laptop (running Monterey 12.6). On the windows desktop, a folder saved to my desktop froze, so I ended it with task manager. I think I ended “windows.exe” because now all icons, the bar at the bottom, the start button, and just about everything else is missing and inaccessible. A fix I read online begins with typing control/alt/delete to bring up task manager. No combination seems to work on my Mac laptop. I’ve found at least 5 suggested control, alt, delete variations to use on my Mac keyboard — none work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Mac Mini I use occasionally. I use RealVNC to connect to it remotely, from my Windows computer. VNC works well, but it lacks a few useful features. The two main features I'm missing is the ability to match the Mac's resolution to that of my PC screen, and the ability to transfer files between both computers. Is there a simple way to install an RDP server on the Mac (it can be a paid solution)? Or perhaps there is another solution? Thank you.

As the title states, whilst using Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection from my Mac to office PC I have encountered the following problems: 1. Tab key not doing anything 2. Space not working, instead only Shift+Space works for some reason (an issue when typing anything) All other keys are working normally and everything else works normally except these 2 keys. I have tried **Razor BlackWidow v3** and **Magic Keyboard** (that came with my iMac M1). I have an AMD Ryzen (TUF Gaming) Windows 10 laptop with a Geforce card and HDMI output. Try what I may, it fails to drive a decade-old 30" dual-link DVI Apple monitor. My current setup uses two powered convertors: 1. HDMI -> DisplayPort (powered convertor; Comsol brand) 2. DisplayPort -> Mini DisplayPort (unpowered adapter; generic) 3. Mini DisplayPort to Dual-link DVI (powered convertor; Apple brand) However, Windows can't even identify a monitor is connected. The Cinema Display has a black screen with power light on. In the past, I successfully used links #2 and 3 of this chain with a DisplayPort-enabled laptop. But the new HDMI -> DP convertor (link #1) seems to break the chain. Any ideas? Even if only to get it working at low resolution? -- Other things I tried: 1. Generic USB-C to Mini DisplayPort convertor didn't work. (The laptop has a non-Thunderbolt USB-C 3.1 port) 2. Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter (unpowered) as link #3 didn't work either.

There are two main things I want to copy, pictures in the photo library and .mp3 files saved by the (third party) Voice Recorder application. Here is what I've tried: * When I attach the phone to a PC, I get a DCIM folder with a bunch of subfolders, but nothing giving a clue to how the images are organized in albums, or even ordered by date. Further, I know there are complicated options about what is kept on the device and what is in iCloud. What I really want is a way to copy all of the pictures, whether on the phone or iCloud, to the PC. Does Apple try to make this difficult to lock you in to iCloud? * For the Voice Recorder .mp3 files, I can copy files from the application to the Files application in bulk, so that's good, but I don't know how to get them from Files to the PC in bulk. I tried various things but I only seem to be able to copy them one at a time. I tried using iZip but it failed, perhaps because the files are too large? The thing that seemed most promising was to add my Google Drive account as a "Location" in the Files app, and then drag all the recordings from the "On this iPad" location to the Google Drive location. But I waited hours and hours and it only seemed to copy one of the files out of the ~100 that were selected and dragged. * I found https://snapdrop.net/ , which is cool, however again it only seems to let me copy one file at a time, which is not feasible. Again, I was thinking maybe I could zip the files, but iZip fails. I don't mind paying a reasonable amount for a backup/copy app, if that's what it takes, but I wasn't able to tell from the descriptions of the apps I looked at that they would do what I need. Note: I also did a full backup from the iPhone to my PC via iTunes. Unfortunately that creates a set of cryptically named files and folders. I'm assuming it's a proprietary format and there's no simple way to turn those into a regular directory of files? Note: I was hoping to copy to a PC, but if copying to a MacBook is easier, that works also.

I need to transfer all my picture collection, which is stored on a Windows PC, to a brand new Mac (Monterey) On my PC, pictures are stored in folders, and correctly EXIF tagged (DateTimeOriginal), therefore, what I would like to achieve is to import pictures in Photos so that: 1. Albums are automatically created from the folder name 2. Albums are sorted automatically by picture EXIF dates, within an album 3. Pictures are automatically sorted by EXIF date (not by filesystem date or import date) While point 1 can be apparently achieved using this script , how can I match point 2 & 3?

Bought a new 2nd iPad for the kids - I deleted all photos (as Well as recently deleted photos)… But that was a mistake. What I forgot to realize is that iCloud now started deleting the photos on all my units … My PC was recently sync with iCloud so the photofolder still holds all the pictures. But when I turn it on, and I gets online with iCloud it will start to deleted them during the sync (it did so on my laptop)… how do I stop that, and keep them on my PC? I have turned on my PC but made sure it does not have any internet access. Help?

I have a PC running Windows 10 and a Mac running macOS 10.12.4 both connected to a common home WiFi network. **Mac network settings** **Firewall:** disabled, **IP:** 192.168.1.18, **Subnet:** 255.255.255.0 **Windows network settings** **Firewall:** disabled, **IP:** 192.168.1.14, **Subnet:** 255.255.255.0 **Ping Results** - Mac->Mac (other) = success - Mac->PC = success - PC->PC = success - PC->Mac = fail When monitoring tcpdump via Terminal on the Mac it is showing that the computer is receiving the ping, but the PC is not receiving a reply.

I'am an iPhone + PC (Windows/Ubuntu) user. Nowadays, I'm used to download photos from iPhone to local folder, sort them and then backup them by myself (by syncing to remote disk and burning onto bluray discs also). I like an idea of iCloud Photo Library + optimizing a storage on iPhone. For me, this also means that original photos are moved from iPhone storage into cloud, so I won't be able to download them via USB. So, will it be possible (and easy and comfortable) to download all new photos (100+ at once) from iCloud Photo Library to local disk on PC? I mean a) download and keep on iCloud (copy), b) download and delete from iCloud (move)?

I think I have passed all the prerequisites: 1. I am using _the same account_ on both my PC (iTunes) and my Apple iPhone 2020 SE. 2. Both devices are physically connected and authorised. 3. I am logged in to my account in iTunes for PC. 4. iTunes can see my device and library. The thing is that my library again is empty and that I can't add anything to it. Because: 1. I click _File > Add a Folder to Library..._, I select a folder full of .mp3 files, I click OK and... nothing happens. My library is empty. 2. I click _File > Devices > Sync "iPhone (name)"_, iTunes is quickly "something" (I see quickly changing steps from 1 to 4), but again no file is being transferred. Actually, I have done this about 60 times during past two hours. All for nothing. What am I missing or doing wrong? Can someone explain me, _step-by-step_ this (extremely terrifying, as it turns out) process of copying an audiobook / a folder full of .mp3 files from my PC to my iPhone? Exactly and step-by-step, please. What should I do (when to connect devices, when to start iPhone)? Where should I be (at which screen -- Library or iPhone)? What should I click and in which order?
