After installing Windows on an external drive, it crashes when connecting via a SATA case. (Crashes when booting Windows, Linux, and macOS). The installation was based on the answer from [Drivers not working on Windows 10 installed (CLI process) on external SSD running on MacBook Air 2018](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/384355/drivers-not-working-on-windows-10-installed-cli-process-on-external-ssd-runnin/384447#384447) . However, the exact procedure, including additional steps taken, is documented in a secret gist on GitHub. I have tried multiple different cables and cases. I am using an Imac18,3. I have tried plugging the SATA case into the mac via USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C. All of these cables should allow data transfer. The Cable that it works with is a USB-A to SATA cable. The device crashes when plugging the drive in from boot. (Only if booting from that drive though) Does anyone know why this happens? Is there a way to fix it?

I finally got Bootcamp working on my Mac so I could play Windows Steam games on it. The only problem is that I don’t have enough storage on Bootcamp to download games from Steam and I ran out of space on my Mac to put more space on Bootcamp. I bought a 64 GB SD card to fix this, but I can’t figure out how to actually store the SD card storage on my Mac. I converted the SD card to an external drive but that still didn’t solve it because I can only partition the SD card and I can’t add it to my Mac’s storage. I also can’t add the external drive to my Bootcamp storage, and whenever I try to use it on Bootcamp (like installing Steam on it or installing Steam games), it won’t work. Is there any way to just add the external drive to my main Mac storage or to the Bootcamp storage?

I was restarting back to mac, when I think I closed my computer or otherwise shut off during restarting. When I opened it again, I was locked out and stuck in this loop of entering password to unlock disk. I know I am entering correct password, and I know this is a semi common problem from other search results. This has previously happened to me, and the fix, without losing any files, was to just reinstall macos. Now though, there is not enough space on my mac to reinstall macos, I'm just short a few megabytes. I currently only have access to my windows partition. Is there any way to resize or delete this partition and to add that space back to the macos partition? I am a little scared of using disk utility, I know it can delete the partition but I am afraid that even if the space might be freed up, I won't be able to reclaim that space without corrupting my files on macos. Is it safe to just delete my bootcamp partition? Is there anyway to free up space from the windows side and reclaiming? I previously used minitool partition wizard to resize my partition before, but if I recall I had to first partition off some of my mac partition in macos, and then claimed that space within windows. Does disk utility have this capability, or some terminal commands to be able to do this? It is a macbook pro 2021

I have problems with a windows game on Bootcamp that used to work fine, and now doesn't. So I tried making a bootable bootcamp on a USB. Bootcamp runs on the USB but I would say it doesn't run as well as on my mac's internal HDD. Windows tend to not respond a lot. Also, the 32bit windows game on the USB crashes from memory errors even though I use LargeAddressAware. The game does not crash on my original bootcamp and I can get the game to use over 2GB RAM and it doesn't crash. I think maybe getting my original bootcamp setup on the flash drive might fix my issue. I also want to use this USB to be able to test doing things without it messing up my original bootcamp. I have read that bootcamp can have problems from USB and it's better to clone your existing bootcamp to the USB. Using WintoUSB seems like a great option, but I have Windows 10 Pro, and you can't use WintoUSB with Windows 10 Pro. I have also read that you can create a .CDR image using Disk Utility and then convert it to an .iso; then I guess I can use Rufus maybe to burn it to the usb. But the problem is, the BOOTCAMP uses 100GB but is a 230GB partition. I have more than 100GB available on my mac, but not 230GB and it told me there's not enough space. Also, everything I try takes so long, so I want to know what will work because I'm getting nowhere when trying things myself. Can anyone suggest an easy way to clone BOOTCAMP (with Windows 10 Pro) to a USB? I have access to both Mac and Windows to do this from. Ideally I want it to clone directly so I don't have to store the 100GB or 230GB somewhere other than the USB drive.

The USB is 123GB and completely cleared. The Windows 10 ISO is around 6GB. I have also tried reformatting it to FAT32 and exFAT, with no luck. I have also disabled Time Machine and automatic backups. Does anyone know a fix to this or should I just install Windows 10 via DVD?

I am looking to sell this iMac, so I was going to try and remove this partition anyway, but I don't want to sell it if someone could recover it and access my login. I have been trying *Disk Utility > First Aid* on the drive I have also been running /sbin/fsck -fy in Single User mode. This is the current situation of my HDD. 1. Does the Windows partition still exist? 2. As I didn't remove the partition/windows installation properly from BootCamp Assistant, can it be recovered? 3. If I perform the *Recovery > Re-install MacOS* for the sale, will this wipe the entire 1TB disk properly? enter image description here EDIT After running diskutil ap resizecontainer disk2 0b I am getting the error object map is invalid enter image description here

I've heard online that this is Apple's fault for including bad drivers, but I am wondering if there is a way around it or some third-party drivers that I can install. I've tried re downloading the drivers and looking through all of the settings. There is an enhance option which only seems to make the sound louder which then makes it sound worse. I've looked through 12 pages of Google searches and I can't find any fixes. Any help, ideas or suggestions are appreciated.enter image description here

I have a 128GB SSD from a decommissioned MacPro3,1 that had a Boot Camp installation of Windows 10. That disk has sat in a drawer for the last 4 years and now I'm trying to see if I can boot up that Windows installation on a 2018 Mac Mini. I have an external USB 3 SATA device which I've plugged the SSD into and I can see the BOOTCAMP volume on the macOS Sonoma desktop. Unfortunately, holding down the Option key at boot time only shows the Mini's "Macintosh HD" by itself; I expected that it would detect the Windows SSD and display it as an option. Is there something that needs to be set on the Mini to allow the BOOTCAMP volume to be seen in the boot options menu? NVRAM perhaps? I always thought that since I could plug in a USB stick and boot through the Option menu, just plugging this old BOOTCAMP drive in would just work, but alas...

I'm new to mac I just got my first macbook used last week. I was trying to install Windows 10 via boot camp and it told me it could not due to some issue and to check Disk Utility. I have used Linux and Windows to a lesser degree most of my life, but I am embarrassed to say I don't fully understand this. I ran diskutil list & diskutil apfs list and this is the output. I saw these commands on some other post and thought they may be helpful. This is probably completely normal. I am sure I just want to understand. I am on the newest update of Catalina MBP Mid 2017. Also, it is not super important to get Boot Camp running Windows. I was just experimenting, but does anyone see an obvious reason why there would be an issue? Thank you! I've just installed windows 10 x64 on my mac, a partition that I made with Disk Utility. I was going to use BootCamp however the way BootCamp formatted the partition in El Capitan didn't allow Windows to be installed (I believe it was because of not formatting it correctly). So now I've got it all installed however the drivers aren't (headphones and Wifi don't work; plus I'm not sure it's using my graphics card either). How do I go about installing the drivers I need for this version of Windows?

I'm wondering how I can upgrade to Windows 11 as it requires TPM 2.0. I'm not sure I can create a bootable USB using Rufus as I read somewhere that Bootcamp's support tools affect the installer and otherwise won't work, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

That must the weirdest title you've read in a long time. I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012, I installed Windows 7 with Bootcamp and all was working fine. Last night I installed Kali Linux with a bootable USB, and during the installation I checked something like "master boot record" or something like that, not too sure. Now when I'm greeted with the boot menu in mac thanks to rEFInd and select Windows, this message comes on : > No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key I've read online this has something to do with GRUB, but don't know how to proceed. Let me know if you need any more info, thanks.
