The only thing I see is
Locked SIM
in the upper left corner and can't do anything about it.
The question: How can I trigger the panel to unlock my SIM card again?

iPhone X running iOS 12.3.2 and locked with a 4 digit passcode.
iCloud backup, but has been deleted online as well have I changed the Apple ID password.
I know that AES 256 bit encryption cannot be decrypted, and I know about the USB Restricted Mode.
The phone was past boot phase and had been unlocked once. However, when I lost it, USB Restricted Mode was enabled.
Is it, therefore, impossible to brute force it? Because brute forcing such a weak code would be child’s play.
Also, would it be possible for a hacker/police to just physically remove the hard drive from the phone, then insert it into some other machine and proceed to brute force?
I know about the FBI case with Apple, but that was a while ago. Maybe things have changed? I know the Israelis forensic team and Greykit can unlock up to iOS 12.3. My version is 12.3.2
Also how does Checkm8 fit into all of this?

MacBook Pro M1 displays a lock screen, asks for a 6-digit PIN
I have a MacBook Pro M1. The computer asks for a 6-digit PIN to proceed with boot. I have admin rights on the machine, how can I bypass the lock screen to access data on the device? It’s my company laptop. I'm trying to access the laptop to get back important data before returning it to company.

Correct password not accepted for first login after reboot - filevault off

Edit for conciseness:
Macbook Pro Intel T2 from 2018, latest available MacOs 14.
2 Accounts existing, both admin.
My primary account has recently been changed from restricted to admin.
This is not confirmed temporally related to the problem.
After reboot one of the accounts can't be logged in. Only after another user was logged in first, I can use the password to login the primary account.
I thought it was related to Filevault.
But even with Filevault off, it behaves the same.
Machine has never seen any MDM or special fiddling with user properties. No Icloud connected.
Changing the users password does not have any effect in this.
Newly created accounts do not have this issue. Only this one account.
Testing this is time consuming because of the imo very aggressive ratelimiter.
Occasionally even on a reboot after a logged in session of the primary user, will that user be locked from anything from 15min to over an hour. Without even inputting a wrong password once.
What could be wrong with the account? How could I fix this without migrating to a new account.
Edit:
Will copying the directories to a new user with same uid and name port everything?
What about keyring, wifi credentials, vpn, dev certificates?
Yet another edit:
A Yubikey was paired with the account. After unpairing it, reboot and the whole yadda. I had yet again got a 15 min wait until I could try entering the password. And then it actually worked.
Then I turned Filevault back on. And it does not work anymore.
Frustration 100
Old:
*My Macbook suddenly stopped accepting my account password to first unlock the machine from filevault.
Another account still works to unlock filevault.
After unlocking filevault I can login to that user with the correct password.
After login I tried changing the password. The correct password was accepted as correct password.
It still won't unlock on fresh boot with the correct password.
Now I had a ratelimit of half a day.
It seems the filevault ratelimiter never got reset. Even tho I logged in using another account.
So after FV unlock, pw works. Before FV unlock, pw does not work.
Turning Filevault off and on again to rebuild the key wrangling machines' derivation data from the password again did not work.
Changing the password because maybe just on/off doesn't rebuild the key derivation data did not work. I have got another account lock for quite a time again.
Even with Filevault disabled, first login after reboot does not work with the weird user.
I also never did any MDM like stuff nor manully screwed around with policy settings.
The only thing special about the account is, that it was once restricted user and was upgraded to admin recently.
I can't tell if the problem happened at the exact time of changing that.
After last login with FV off after logging in to the working user, even tho not once failing input during that boot, the weird account still had a 15 min block on it before I could try. Even tho I rebooted from a logged in session of that account.
What do?*

On my mac I can't edit

manually because it is locked. Right-click -> Get Info, the "Locked" radio button is not clicked, but the file still remains locked: attemps to manually edit it in TextEdit result in a pop-up window appearing saying:
>The file "known_hosts" is locked. If you want to make changes to this document, click unlock.
Clicking "unlock" in the pop-up window produces another pop-up window which says:
>The file "known_hosts" cannot be unlocked. You can duplicate this document and edit the duplicate.
When I cd to .ssh folder, these commands in terminal have also failed to unlock the file:
$ sudo chflags nouchg,noschg "~/.ssh/known_hosts"
$ sudo chflags nouchg,noschg ~/.ssh/known_hosts
$ sudo chflags nouchg,noschg "known_hosts"
$ sudo chflags nouchg,noschg known_hosts
-l ~/.ssh/known_hosts
yields -rw-r--r--@ 3 Baz staff 4779 3 Jun 2016 /Users/Baz/.ssh/known_hosts
I don't know where to go next. How do I unlock ~/.ssh/known_hosts

I’m very new to this thread and I hope I’m in the right place for help.
I’ve got an iPad 2 WIFI only model and have an issue, some time ago whilst I was using the iPad it suddenly and out of nowhere went to an activation required screen.
I believe this to be a software issue as the iPad hasn’t gone to the very beginning of the setup process, I’ve attached 3 screenshots showing what it does.
When I turn on the iPad I can see my wallpaper I’m required to enter my PIN to unlock but after that it goes straight to an activation required screen. Unfortunately it’s been years since setting up the device and as I’ve never had need to use iCloud password as I’ve got a seperate iTunes and App Store Apple ID have forgotten it. I can’t reset the password as I’ve got two step verification setup and I can’t find the recovery key, and unfortunately when two step verification is activated Apple automatically take away elements of the account recovery process. I no longer have the option to reset the password by answering security questions, recovery email or even submit an account recovery request.
Unfortunately Apple won’t assist me without proof
of purchase and as I purchased the iPad in Oct 2013 I’ve found it impossible to get a copy of an invoice from the supplier thus no help at all from Apple.
As the iPad still has everything installed on it is there some way of extracting the password by some means.
Is data extraction or connecting the iPad to my iPhone Wirelessly to access the iPads data even possible?
I’d appreciate any assistance anyone could give me.

I don't think it used to work that way (years ago), and now I often forget to unlock it, so I think a device is charging and then hours later realize it's not.
To clarify, I don't have to leave it unlocked. I unlock it, then the battery icon changes to indicate it's charging, then I can lock/sleep it again.

First of the hardware/software involved here:
* 2023 15” MacBook Air M2
* 16GB RAM
* Sonoma 14.4
Randomly, but rather frequently, right after unlocking my Mac with Touch ID my screen go black and unresponsive. The only fix I have found so far is to physically close the laptop, reopen it and unlock it again (to be clear: there's no need for a reboot).
This is a minor, but recurring, inconvenience and I'm a bit at a loss on how to troubleshoot it. The logs clearly show the first unlock followed by the close laptop/second unlock:
$ log show --predicate '(eventMessage CONTAINS "lockUIPresentedWithoutSuccessfulUnlock = NO")' --style syslog --last 1h
Filtering the log data using "composedMessage CONTAINS "lockUIPresentedWithoutSuccessfulUnlock = NO""
Skipping info and debug messages, pass --info and/or --debug to include.
Timestamp (process)[PID]
2024-03-11 17:51:50.195153+0000 localhost loginwindow: [com.apple.loginwindow.logging:Standard] -[LWScreenLock handleUnlockResult:]_block_invoke | _lockUIPresentedWithoutSuccessfulUnlock = NO
2024-03-11 17:51:54.912174+0000 localhost loginwindow: [com.apple.loginwindow.logging:Standard] -[LWScreenLock handleUnlockResult:]_block_invoke | _lockUIPresentedWithoutSuccessfulUnlock = NO
Which logs between those two timestamps should I be looking at to debug this further. I fully appreciate this might be an issue with the hardware, or MacOS itself but equally it could be a user error (or maybe due to some software I installed), either way, I'm looking for direction on how to narrow down the behavior I'm seeing (even if that's only being able to repro it consistently).
Edit:
Running pmset displaysleepnow
a few times in a row make it easier to repro, it's still not consistent but it speeds up the lock/unlock/repro cycle. Will attempt safe mode.
Edit 2:
I know have a _consistent_ repro, that also repros in safe mode:
1. Run pmset displaysleepnow
from a shell
2. **Quickly** use Touch ID as soon as the screen goes to sleep
3. The screen is now black/unusable, and requires the laptop to be closed/open

I want to be able to unlock my phone when I’m wearing touch screen compatible gloves. Touch ID doesn’t work with gloves. When I tap the home button to unlock, (sometimes) the phone doesn’t do anything. Just stays on the lock screen. This behavior is inconsistent.
If I hold down the home button it activates Siri.
When this is happening, it doesn’t matter how much I mash the home button, I cannot get the phone to give me the option to use my passcode. I have to take my gloves off and use Touch ID.
On some occasions there is a tap here to use passcode link but I don’t know what the logic is to get that link to appear.
Any advice?

There are times when I am just done with the FaceID nonsense and I want to enter the pass phrase but cannot get the iPad to give me that option.

I use a Windows PC as my primary machine, and a 2018 MBP as a secondary "admin" machine for email, etc. The MBP is right here on my desk, but the ergonomics are such that it is much easier on me physically if I remote-access into the MBP and drive it from my Windows machine/keyboard/mouse. This works great, with one small but slightly annoying limitation.
I have the machine set to lock after an idle period, and when it locks then a password is required to unlock it. If I'm not screen sharing, then my Apple Watch (Series 2) unlocks it just fine. But if I'm connected via my Windows machine, then I have no option but to type the password in.
I really wish the Apple Watch could be allowed to unlock the machine even while screen sharing. I know this is not a technical limitation, because for some odd reason, if the screen is off WHEN I connect for screen sharing, then it unlocks immediately via the watch. The "problem" is only if the machine was already connected at the time it goes into display sleep.
Is there any way, via an app or a Terminal command, to override this "feature" of macOS? I'm running macOS Catalina and Windows 10, using Remote Desktop Manager as the ARD client.

I have a very old iPhone 6 that I bought locked from Verizon. I'm trying to understand whether it still has a carrier lock on it, or whether I could bring my own SIM from a carrier that is not Verizon.
When I go to
Settings -> General -> About
, it shows Carrier: Not Available.
According to [this link](https://www.howtogeek.com/793677/how-to-tell-if-your-iphone-is-unlocked/) ,
> If you see "No Sim Restrictions," then your iPhone is unlocked. If it says "SIM Locked" (or something similar), then your iPhone is locked to a particular carrier.
So what does Carrier: Not Available
mean? Is there a way for me to determine whether my phone is carrier locked before buying another SIM?
[This article ](https://www.verizon.com/support/device-unlocking-policy/) implies that it should be unlocked, but I'm not sure.
