*System: Ubuntu MATE 24.04.2* I tried to start a virtual machine under VirtualBox and received the following error: > VirtualBox can't enable the AMD-V extension. Please disable the KVM kernel extension, recompile your kernel and reboot (VERR_SVM_IN_USE). I made no changes to my system (that I am aware) to cause this. Yesterday all was fine, today the problem. Fortunately, a quick search revealed the following article with the solution: Quick Fix VirtualBox can’t enable the AMD-V extension I am assuming that KVM was enabled in a background system update. Questions: 1) How and why were the KVM modules enabled? 2) Can I safely, as per the article, permanently blacklist the kvm and kvm_amd modules?
