How can I delete a given phrase, say "the quick brown fox", from every page in a PDF? It's >500 pages so I'd rather not remove just every instance manually. I'd be OK with whiteout but would much rather delete the text as text. The text appears in the same place on almost every page

I launched it with Wine, but wine doesn't support multi-touch, as I read. Then I tried many others (Openboard, Xournal++, rainbow-board_0.8.1 and many others) with Debian 11 and Ubuntu 20.04.4. Only 1 line drawing. Manufacturer's program (SensStudio) and "rainbow-board" support multi-hand writing under Windows. No super-driver is used. It detects as touchscreen, as under linux. Xournal++ is a very sofisticated program for digital pen/table, but have a bug with colour of Latex equations. It is like in the imagem below. It doesn't matter you make, the color is the same. Look, the red colour even was not selected.

When using xournal the point where the pen is on the screen is sometimes very small (depending on the screen and resolution), so that I have to draw and erase something just to find the point on the screen. Is there any option which visually makes the position of the pen more visible on the screen?

I am busy with a task from the terminal which is that laborious that it would be of value to tweak something with bash autocomplete. So a standard Debian package is [xournal](https://packages.debian.org/de/buster/xournal) which I don't have installed (anymore) What I *do* have installed is [xournal++](https://github.com/xournalpp/xournalpp) which is launched with 'xournalpp' The terminal does not realise that and tab does not complete all the way. Does anyone know how to fix this?

When annotating a PDF I select the pen tool or the highlighter tool and want to underline or cross out or highlight parts of the text but after click-hold + drag + release I only get a dot at the position of my initial click as opposed to the line I expect to appear. The dot is the right colour and size, though. So, the question is: How do I get the pen tool to draw a line? Versions: Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia (VM on a Win10 host) with Xournal 0.4.8. (I rarely use Xournal and had to find this answer twice now so I leave my fix here.)

**Xournal** version 0.4.8. **PROBLEM:** Under certain conditions, text added to an existing PDF file is truncated when the modified PDF is then printed to file. **RECREATION:** Create a PDF file (I did same by using **LibreOffice** (version 4.3.3.2) to create a short, two-line PDF file using the File -> Export as PDF... option. Open said newly-created PDF file using **Xournal**. Input the following text annotation in a single line: FYI, it was obvious, nine months later, when I told Zoey about this abazz (Sorry to be so specific about the added text, but there are only specific text strings that seem to expose this problem...) Create a PDF using Xournal (using **Xournal**'s File -> Print or File -> Export to PDF options). Open resultant PDF using **Evince** (version 3.14.1), and... ...the text I added using **Xournal** is truncated, with ONLY the trailing "z" being displayed! **PROPOSED SOLUTION:** I did lots of research and have posted my proposed workarounds below. Please post any "solutions" you know about. The best one will get my vote...

I currently use a Dell Latitude 7350. As I'm a teacher, I want to record myself when correcting exercices or tests. I think it's more interesting than a plain typesetted corrected document : I can *say* things I would not write otherwise, and pupils cand more easily perceive the paths one mind should follow in order to answer questions in the most efficient way. But I have two major flaws, with my Dell - whose screen is tactile and supports an active stylus : - the software I use is not palm detection ready (I use Xournal to annotate by hand the PDF documents containing exercices and tests). I bought graphic designer's gloves, but two of them put one over the other are not sufficient to prevent palm detection ; - I cannot record my voice : the embedded microphone records as well hit sounds from the stylus - that are very annoying - and the jack for external headset with microphone is absolutely not handled by any kernel from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. I also Recently, I was given a Fujitsu Lifebook T4215 - an old Tablet PC running under Windows XP. It also has a stylus, but the screen is not tactile : it comes with integrated Wacom technology, especially a passive stylus. I installed Debian 10 with LXDE, in order to cope with the old Core Duo T7200 and 2 GB of RAM. Everything is fine, the sytlus is well handled by the system... but I cannot write with it as it is detected as far as 1 cm from the screen ! So writings are completely invaded by parasitic traits : reading them is at least unbearable. I'm going to think I'm cursed. Does anyone has an idea for, say, setting the detection distance for the stylus, or forcing contact with the screen before reacting to any action of the stylus ? Thanks in advance...

I have been using the software Xournal extensively in the last 15 years, under various operating systems, and lately as a virtual board in class (which I export to pdf for the student after class). One very useful feature is the "delete strokes" mode of the eraser, which is not the default mode. I would like this option to be selected by default (to save 3 seconds every time I start xournal). I tried to save the option "as default" and to "save preferences" without success. Some other features DO seem to be saved and recovered from the preferences, but not this one. I tried to download the source code and to edit it, but got a bit lost in it. Is there an easy way to configure Xournal to delete by stroke by default?
