How to obtain a MacOS driver for an old LG Portable Super Multi Drive

I have a 2020 MacBook Air running Ventura 13.2 and would like to use an old LG CD reader ("Portable Super Multi Drive") to read a CD. But when I plug it in (and, for good measure, also plug the drive's cable's extra USB-A cable into a power source to make sure it's getting enough power), the CD spins vigorously as it should (i.e., there is enough power flowing to it, and it recognizes that it has been plugged in) but no disk mounts on my laptop. I tried diskutil list, but it did not appear there either. I suspect the problem is that I am missing the driver for this particular LG drive. But I was unable to find a way to download such a driver from LG or any other source on the internet. How can I make this drive work with my laptop (whether by finding the appropriate driver or by using some other tool -- ideally FOSS)? (I am happy for it to be either GUI or CLI; all I want to do is to be able to copy data from the CD to my laptop.)
