After crash, Ubuntu boots into boot menu

After a crash (browser froze), I tried a hard reset, and on boot, this screen appeared, which I cannot bypass just by pressing Enter. This has happened before, and after several attempts and pressing multiple buttons, it eventually booted again, but I'm not sure why My laptop used to have Windows, but I wiped it out and installed Ubuntu. What is happening here?
