[GNU IceCat](https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuzilla/) is the primary target for the [LibreJS extension](https://www.gnu.org/software/librejs/) , making it a stable platform for running that extension.
So, I'd like to install Ice Cat on my Debian-based systems (running Debian, Ubuntu and PureOS). How can I do this? I'm happy to do crazy things up to and including using the Guix package manager, as long as I can launch the browser in a regular GNOME/Wayland session.

I am trying to use the [Jitsi Meet](https://meet.jit.si/) web chat service with Icecat, but I am having problems (Icecat is derived from Firefox, but is more privacy/security focused). If I go to test.webrtc.org , it tells me that it can't access my webcam or microphone, despite the fact that I have given permissions in the preferences for that URL to access both.
Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this?

I am on Debian bullseye, and I use GNU Icecat as my main browser.
It is my favorite browser, but it irks me that its time zone is always UTC, though I am in a different one. I see this because some websites detect my browser's time zone and compare it with the account time zone.
----
I tried running it while passing an environment variable:
TZ='US/Pacific' icecat
I ran the following in the JS Console:
new Date().getTimezoneOffset();
The offset returned by IceCat is always 0. Firefox returns it as per the time zone, but I am not sure how - it doesn't seem to obey the TZ variable either.
----
Is this a bug with Icecat itself? A privacy-preservation measure? A configuration error? The Debian package? *I don't think it's the Debian package, because it was not installed via APT.*
In any case, I would like to have the proper time zone returned. How do I fix it?
In case it's relevant, my build version is 60.3.0esr (64-bit)
.

I seem to be experiencing some problems with audio/video in Icecat (security-focused derivative of Firefox) , for example when trying to play You Tube videos. Frequently, I start playing a video and either the audio is strange and garbled, or the video doesn't seem to play properly at all - when I press 'play', it plays for half a second and then stops.
I am using Icecat in Parabola (derivative of Arch), with pulseaudio in LXDE.
I installed the Parabola system recently and carried over my user home directory from a previous GNU/Linux installation. I tried creating a new user from scratch and if I log in to LXDE as the new user, the audio/video in icecat seems to work much better - You Tube videos seem to play flawlessly.
So, I suspect the issue with the legacy user account is to do with some of the user settings files in the home directory being carried over from the previous system. Does anyone have any idea what files might be affecting this?
