Spell checking in browser's textarea elemen, works for Chrome, not for either Firefox or Duckduckgo

Typing text into the same textarea element on the same website with three browsers on my Android phone (Fairphone 4, Android 13) I have or not have spell checking as follows: - Chrome: yes - Firefox: no - Duckduckgo: no The information I found said to check the keyboard (gboard) and yes, it has spell checking enabled. I couldn't find a setting in Firefox or Duckduckgo itself. Does anyone have some insights where the problem could be: do those phone browsers just not have it, is it some setting still I might have messed up in the past?
