I have an Android 10-powered smartphone with Gboard (v12.9.20) installed. In Gboard, the "Spell check" is enabled. The problem is that the spell check does not work: if I type in the Gmail app "hellowx" (for example), it isn't marked with red underlines. What I've tried so far: - clear Gboard cache - clear Gboard storage - force stop Gboard - restart the smartphone No effect: if I type in the Gmail app "hellowx" (for example), it isn't marked with red underlines. Any ideas why the spell check doesn't work? How to fix it? --- UPD: It works in Gmail in "Subject" input field. It does not work in Gmail in "Compose email" field: enter image description here Very unexpected. Is it a bug in Gmail? --- UPD2. In Gmail desktop web version I selected "Spelling suggestions off" (UPD3: AND clicked the "Save" button at the bottom): enter image description here The spelling keeps working in Gmail Android app in "Subject" input field, but keeps not working in Gmail Android app in "Compose email" field: enter image description here The Gmail Android app was re-opened. Any ideas how to proceed?

Typing text into the same textarea element on the same website with three browsers on my Android phone (Fairphone 4, Android 13) I have or not have spell checking as follows: - Chrome: yes - Firefox: no - Duckduckgo: no The information I found said to check the keyboard (gboard) and yes, it has spell checking enabled. I couldn't find a setting in Firefox or Duckduckgo itself. Does anyone have some insights where the problem could be: do those phone browsers just not have it, is it some setting still I might have messed up in the past?

How do you set gboard as the default spell checker in Android v12
I have a Samsung S22 running Android v12 on it. I can't seem to set the default spell checker as GBoard. There does not seem to be an option to change this from Samsung Keyboard to GBoard. The moment I click on Samsung Keyboard, it seems to take me to the settings page for the Samsung Keyboard.

I try to make the spell check work for more than one language on my Pixel 2 (Android 8.1) with Gboard. My question is *not* about auto-correction or word prediction. The spell check is activated and the two languages (UK and German) are activated in Language preferences and Gboard preferences. Changing the language while typing via the space bar does not solve the problem. So far, it is only working in Google Docs: Language Setting GBoard languages SpellCheck Setting Screenshot Google Docs I read the answers on [Stack Overflow - Adding a second dictionary to the spell-check in Android 4.3?](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20197421/adding-a-second-dictionary-to-the-spell-check-in-android-4-3 ), but they did not solve the problem. I guess a solution for SwiftKey is even more difficult?

There are a few words that I use in everyday conversation that Google Voice Typing doesn't seem to want to recognize. The first is "extraordinarily." It always transcribed "extraordinary Lee." The other two words (in censored format, since I imagine vulgarities are kinda frowned on in the forums) are the s-word with the suffix "ty" appended, and the mf-word. The former is always transcribed with only one T. The latter is spelled without the C. I swear a great deal. It's how I talk. I'm also a stickler for proper spelling and punctuation, so it bothers me that Google spells cusswords like a fourth grader, in addition to the other typo. Also, recently it seems that all the options for corrections have disappeared--every time I dictate something, there are NO words underlined at the end. What gives? Anybody got any input on this?

I have found a few similar questions but no answers yet. I use the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard so I can type in both English and Dutch simultaneously (without having to switch between them). This works great but the system spell checker still put red lines under all my words. I have set the spell checker to 'use system languages' but it only uses the first one in the list. If I select manually, I can only use one language. Is there a way to get multilingual spell check?

The red underline on misspelled words is excellent, but the popup is awful. This is the popup I do not want: <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> My keyboard app has a much better suggestion list, always. I think because it learns my typed words and handles two languages simultaneously, while the native android spell checker can't do either of those things. But the keyboard app cannot underline words. enter image description here The unwanted popup breaks my accessibility input (I use a physical keyboard), forcing me to always: 1. click/touch the misspelled word, 2. wait for popup to show up with useless suggestions, 3. press back button to close popup, 4. click the correct word on the keyboard suggestion bar. Is there any way to only highlight misspelled words and not show any popup on touch/click?

I am the happy owner of a brand new Xiaomi Redmi 3 Prime. It comes with the MIUI 7, and there is a free upgrade to MIUI 8 via the built-in upgrade software. My only complaint, so far, is that it comes with a utterly annoying spell checker that applies globally to all text inputs, and has no user-friendly way to disable it, as you'll see in the following link. As I found out, this is a problem in the MIUI system. I've tried all the solutions from this thread , but to no avail: * Trying to set the spell_checker_enabled to 0 requires su, and it says su couldn't be found, either from Terminator Emulator for Android and from ADB remote shell. * Trying to set the Google Keyboard language to QWERTY worked, untill I decided to disable this Keyboard, because I won't be using it. * Disabling Google Keyboard Autocorrection doesn't work. * In the Google Keyboard app detail from system configuration, it doesn't let me disable it. Would be really glad to disable it. Side note: this is irrelevant to this question, but as I tried to install minimal ADB and Fastboot on my Ubuntu, it suggested me to run apt-get -f install because there were unmet dependencies. After I did it and rebooted my laptop, my graphical UI was broken and I've just installed a fresh Ubuntu on it.

I don't like to use the drop-down spell check/autocorrect box; I prefer the one built into the Google Keyboard that displays as a line of suggestions above the keyboard. The drop-down displays over that line so I have to back out of it to tap a suggestion. I had it disabled on Android 4.4.2/Kitkat and cannot figure out how to turn it off in 5. I've toggled all settings under Google Keyboard and Samsung keyboard to no avail. The only way I could find to disable it was to force close the Samsung keyboard, but unfortunately I can't permanently disable it. Thanks! Screenshot: Screenshot of drop-down keyboard
