I moved from my Redmi to Mi Mix 2 now and used the Mi Mover app but unfortunately, the words in my used keyboard Gboard weren't restored. Neither does the internal synchronization work, it says something like "sync is not available for devices with G suite accounts or Android for work profile".
Couldn't yet find a working solution for this issue, so I'm thinking about re-adding all words but don't want to do this one by one. I have a wordlist as a text file that would cover at least 80% of my custom words. Any way of adding this at once to Gboard dictionary?
Apart from Gboard dictionary, there seems to be a common Central Android custom word dictionary. Is Gboard also considering words from there? In case it is, maybe there's some API/interface to this Central place so I could add those words at least there, so they could be used by Gboard (and also by other keyboard apps should I ever decide to switch).
I don't mind which way to go in case at least one of both could be achieved.

Am I missing something here?

I am trying to create some custom shortcuts for often-used words/phrases using the built in dictionary, but have run into a roadblock.
I'm trying to follow the instructions in [this blog post](http://heresthethingblog.com/2012/12/04/androidiphone-tip-create-custom/) , specifically:
> * Tap Settings, Language & Input, then “Personal dictionary.” (Note: the exact settings may differ depending on the make and model of your Android phone.)
> * Tap the “+” sign in the top-right corner of the screen, then enter the word or phrase (like “on my way”) you’d like to make a shortcut for.
> * Next, type a brief shortcut that’s easy to remember; for example, “omw” for “on my way.”
> * Tap the Back key, and you’ll see an entry for the shortcut you just added. Want to add more shortcuts? Tap the “+” sign again.
> * Now, go to the Messaging app, compose a new message, and tap one of your new shortcuts—and when you do, the phrase you entered will appear in the row of auto-correct options just above the keyboard. Tap the phrase to add it to your message.
However, I'm not able to find these settings on my Galaxy Note 2. How can I do this?
In the first step itself I am stuck. Didn't find any option for 'Personal Dictionary' sort of thing.
Tap Settings, Language & Input, then “Personal dictionary.”

I have added a few words to the personal dictionary in Gboard settings and they aren't working. Trying to create shortcuts for things like my email address, but when I type the shortcut into Gboard, nothing happens.
I've scoured the web for answers to this and have yet to find a solution. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gboard. I emptied the Gboard cache. I'm currently using a Samsung Galaxy S5 and it's on Android 6.0.1, all software is up-to-date. Nothing helps.

With aid from Android Enthusiasts and Reddit , I was able to bring my Microsoft Word Autocorrect shortcuts from my Windows 10 desktop into my Gboard personal dictionary on Android.
I see, now, that when I enter one of those shortcuts using Gboard's onscreen (virtual) keyboard in Android, that shortcut's full expansion is offered at the center of the top bar in the Gboard keyboard. For example, if I type my initials into the onscreen keyboard, my full name appears in that top bar. Then I can just tap that suggestion to enter it into my document.
Unfortunately, this doesn't work when I enter the shortcut using a Bluetooth (physical) keyboard. The shortcut appears onscreen, but Gboard's top bar does not change accordingly. The explanation is presumably that Gboard is designed to recognize only its own (virtual) keyboard.
My question: can Gboard or some other app be persuaded to expand shortcuts entered via physical keyboard? In Word on the PC desktop, the expansion occurs as soon as the user enters a spacebar, punctuation, or Enter keys following the shortcut.

I am wanting to type a word in Japanese that has a unique reading (not the standard onyomi or kunyomi). As such, I'd like to add it to the Google Japanese keyboard so that I can simply type the kana, and the desired kanji will show up. At the moment I have to type out each individual kanji by their standard readings to write the desired word.
How can I add a custom reading to the Google Japanese keyboard?
For clarification, please see Tip #9 on this page for an example of how to do this in Windows:

Using Lenovo A6010 Plus with the latest update of Android 5.0.2. Here is the problem:
When I go to **GBoard Settings > Dictionary > Add-on dictionaries**, I simply look for the language I want to add and mark it. The status changes to "Downloading", but in a second, it goes back to "Available" again, and no downloading starts or language dictionary added.
Google Keyboard comes with the phone and it can't be uninstalled. The problem occurs after updating Google Keyboard to Gboard (the new Google Keyboard name).
What I tried:
- Restarting the phone.
- Allowing unknown source installation
- Trying the same exact steps on another phone, on the same WiFi, and verifying it works ***(is there any way to transfer the dictionary after downloading it from one phone to another ?)***
- Trying mobile data and disabling WiFi
- Uninstalling the update and installing it again
Looking forward to any suggestions.

I am wondering if there's an app that does that for my phone. So if I'm reading a research paper or something, I can use the same feature across all mediums of news and reading.
I've looked around and found lots of apps for dictionaries, but I want an interactive one.
Does anyone know if that exists?

I can't uninstall this app, thus this means that this is an app by default/built-in.
I want to change the dictionary. By this, I mean when you select one word in a webpage, there is this popup that comes up with the last option dictionary. The built-in dictionary is quite poor for certain languages, and I'm using dictionaries quite a lot.
Ideally, I'd like to use [GoldenDict](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.goldendict.android) , but any other dictionary would be fine.
Is there any way of using another dictionary from the contextual menu of a web page in Chrome?

Using Android 6. Auto correct usually works very well, so I don't want to turn it off. However on some occasions it stubbornly 'corrects' some words which I don't want, which is *extremely* inconvenient.
These words are not in my personal dictionary. I've tried the following:
- add the word I want to my personal dictionary
- add the word I want to the 'all languages' dictionary
- add the wrong word (to which it tends to autocorrect) to the custom dictionary and then remove that
- repeatedly type in the word and when it autocorrects, click it and set it back to what it was, hoping that Android will learn my preference (I really tried this many many interations)
It's driving me nuts. How do I force Android NOT to autocorrect certain words? Or rather, how do delete some words from its own dictionary?
P.S. I know several similar questions like these were posted before, but they were all either outdated (apparently referring to much older Android versions) or the posted answers didn't work (I've tried them all). Quite some references to Android in 2011 are no longer relevant.
P.P.S. I'm using a Nexus 5, default built-in keyboard.

So, my question is, where's the dictionary located? I'm currently using the LG Optimus Me stock keyboard. I did a little research inside the system folders and found a couple of xt9 folders but no traces of the Spanish (or other languages) dictionary.

Okay, so I've seen this question asked before, but literally none of the solutions has ever worked for me, and I've now gone through three phones and six iterations of Android, multiply versions of the Google keyboard, and multiple keyboards and the issue just will not fix. I've seen this common question asked before:
> At some point, I mistyped the word "don't" as "Dont" and saved it as an autocorrect. Now everytime I type "don't" it autocorrects to "Dont", with a capital and no apostrophe.
The difference between that question and mine is that I've been trying to fix this for YEARS now. It started on the first version of the Motorola Droid back in 2010 or 2011. Using the stock keyboard, I mispelled "don't" and that mistake would haunt me forever. In 2012 I switched to the Galaxy Nexus. With the stock keyboard, the mistake stuck. I searched for a solution, and only found things like "uninstall keyboard" or "uninstall updates" or "clear cache and data" or "try a new keyboard." The only thing that worked was using a new keyboard, so I used Swype and SwiftKey for most of the Nexus's life. Upon release, I was eligible for an upgrade and rushed to the HTC One M8. The phone was superb... I loved everything about it. Except it's big-keyed keyboard... so I switched to the default Google Keyboard. And guess what was back? My awful "Dont" type. I considered moving to SwiftKey or Swype or any of the other available market keyboards, but the truth is I really *like* the stock keyboard. I tried reclearing caches, data, clearing out the Search history (like another thread suggested), long-pressing on the word, turning off voice input and long pressing, checked my personal dictionary. The issue persisted. I even side-loaded the beta Android L Google Keyboard, and it immediately reappeared. I totally uninstalled Google Keyboard, Google Voice Input, Google Text to Speech, and used CCleaner and The Cleaner to clear all of my caches and data, and when I reinstalled Google Keyboard, it persisted. I tried the same thing again and re-sideloaded the Android L Google Keyboard... same issue. Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jellybean, and now KitKat and the issue has still persisted. Three different phones, three different manufacturers, three different UIs. The issue still persists.
Please, someone, help. :(
(Why, you may wonder, is it such a big deal? First, it's not fun to answer professional emails from my phone and constantly spell "don't" as "Dont." I'm a teacher, and this looks extremely stupid to parents who expect their kids are learning from the best.)
