In the newest versions of Android, you can click and hold a suggested predictive/autocorrected word, and drag it into a bin (title "remove") to prevent it from being suggested again.
I accidentally deleted the word "I", so now when I type "i" it doesn't automatically autocorrect to "I".
Two related questions:
1. I tried shaking my phone to undo the accidental word removal (like I would undo things on an iPhone), but it didn't do anything. Is there a way I could've undone my action immediately after it happened?
2. Now that it's a few days after the face, how to do I add "I" back to the suggested words without having to completely erase all the things my keyboard has learned about my typing habits?

I am trying to create some custom shortcuts for often-used words/phrases using the built in dictionary, but have run into a roadblock.
I'm trying to follow the instructions in [this blog post](http://heresthethingblog.com/2012/12/04/androidiphone-tip-create-custom/) , specifically:
> * Tap Settings, Language & Input, then “Personal dictionary.” (Note: the exact settings may differ depending on the make and model of your Android phone.)
> * Tap the “+” sign in the top-right corner of the screen, then enter the word or phrase (like “on my way”) you’d like to make a shortcut for.
> * Next, type a brief shortcut that’s easy to remember; for example, “omw” for “on my way.”
> * Tap the Back key, and you’ll see an entry for the shortcut you just added. Want to add more shortcuts? Tap the “+” sign again.
> * Now, go to the Messaging app, compose a new message, and tap one of your new shortcuts—and when you do, the phrase you entered will appear in the row of auto-correct options just above the keyboard. Tap the phrase to add it to your message.
However, I'm not able to find these settings on my Galaxy Note 2. How can I do this?
In the first step itself I am stuck. Didn't find any option for 'Personal Dictionary' sort of thing.
Tap Settings, Language & Input, then “Personal dictionary.”

Is there a way to turn off predictive text/autocomplete/autocorrect just for numbers? Or is there a better predictive text keyboard I don't know about?

I want to have both english **and** german prediction and auto correction at the same time for the stock keyboard (Jelly Bean here).
My use case:
Multi-tasking between english and german domains on my tablet where I both need the keyboard (e.g. Google Talk with my german friends and editing/answering questions on Android Enthusiasts in english). Problem: I don't want to switch off prediction/auto-correction nor do I want to switch to an alternative keyboard. At the moment I have to manually switch between en/de keyboards when I switch tasks (from *Google Talk* to the *browser* and back). This is annoying. I don't mind the keyboard layout (QUERTZ or QUERTY) but would prefer the english one.
How can I have simultaneous multi language prediction/auto-correction in the stock keyboard?

How can I neutralize this "help"…?

Gboard doesn't save new words and use my personal dictionary?

I have both swedish and english activated in GBoard, but I'm using the swedish layout so I get easy access to the letter
å ä ö
.
My problem is that Gboard doesn't seem to "learn" some new words. A specific example is when I'm swiping hon
(swedish for her
), it **never** suggests hon
, instead it autocorrects it to jobb
(swedish for work
) every single time. I've erased the suggestion, I've typed h o n
manually and clicked it in the top bar - I even added hon
to my personal dictionary in the Gboard settings, but nothing seems to help.
It's gotten so ridiculous that I just stopped erasing and correcting it when texting some of my friends, I just informed them that if they see an oddly placed jobb
, just assume I mean hon
:)
On a side note - both me and one of my friends (who's using Sony's built in keyboard) seem to experience periods of our predictions going haywire and suggesting completely wrong words, or in my case often weird acronyms like DF
, DT
, DGV
etc. This seems to last for a few days and then it gets better for few weeks. Might just be coincidental, but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing something similar?

I am using a oneplus 5t, and Gboard. I use signal to text.
I have cleared the personal dictionary within gboard, and I have also enabled "do not make offensive suggestions" in the keyboard options. I don't believe signal has an associated settings option.
Still.. for some reason when I type 'sucking', I get 2/3 followup suggestions that are predictably offensive.
I would just rather not see words like this, and I can guarantee I've never used this particular combination of words before, so I don't understand why this is happening.
Either the "offensive predictive text" function is broken, or these words are not considered to be part of that dictionary (I find this hard to believe). Or something else entirely...

Last night, my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) updated from Android 6.something to Android 7.0. Since I use my phone for typing both Dutch and English very often, occasionally even within the same conversation, and I am a very sloppy typist, I used to have predictive text and autocomplete/autocorrect on for both Dutch and English. This was working (mostly) fine: it would seemingly just find the closest approximation to what I had typed in either language.
Since the update, I have to explicitly choose a language by sliding the space bar. This is annoying, since it adds at least one action, and furthermore I keep forgetting, having to delete whatever I have written so far before switching languages and retyping it.
Would it be possible to go back to the situation I had before the update?
I have been using the default keyboard, with which I am otherwise very satisfied.

I have a user dictionary of about 500 words, which would be an incredible pain in the back to insert manually, so I'm looking for a viable method.
Previously I had a rooted Android 6, where I copied, modified and replaced the SQLite database on the phone. [See this answer](https://android.stackexchange.com/a/24585/194076) .
My current phone is not rooted, so I have no access to said database via
adb
or on the phone directly.
Is there no way to bulk add or copy/paste the user dictionary of the phone without rooting it?

Why is my Samsung Galaxy S8 Keyboard Missing Simple Words?
Occasionally I'll find a simple word that's missing from my Samsung Galaxy S8's default keyboard. The most recent example was the word ***hops***. It kept changing it to ***hopes***. Have I done something silly to make it forget these words in the past?

On my *Wileyfox Swift,* the pre-installed keyboard is called "AOSP keyboard". It allows to type and to "swipe". When set to German, and I "swipe" the word "mal" (you can compare that to the English "just"), which happens quite often, in 90% of the cases text prediction replaces it by "NSKK". At fist I was irritated, then annoyed. Finally I looked up the term, which up to then told me nothing, and found out it's an abbreviation for the "national socialists motor corps" (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps) – and now I even feel offended.
I tried and checked:
* no such term in any of my "user dictionaries" (I had wondered if)
* [Editing the built-in autocorrect dictionary in AOSP keyboard](/q/110157/16575) suggests to unpack, edit and repack the APK – which for me (and most users) is no option
* [Where's the stock keyboard's predictive dictionary located?](/q/22456/16575) mostly speaks about the user dictionaries, also mentions the *source* for the stock dictionaries, and one user reports (in 4/2012, so not sure if it still applies) where he found the files on-device – but no way how to edit them
* [Delete words from the built-in dictionary?](/q/128883/16575) (2015) never got an answer
* Most other questions here talk about specific keyboards like Swype
* hints I found in several posts (like long-pressing the predicted word should bring up a possibility to delete it, or correcting it often enough should make the system deem it "more important") did not work out.
**Is there any way to get rid of those stupid predictions?** I'm fine with solutions requiring root, even if it comes to edit some SQLite database. Imagine every time you typed "just" it would turn into "KKK", it's a horror…
In case it matters: my *Swift* still runs on its original CyanogenOS 12.1 (Android 5.1), as I didn't wish to go MM with it (and specifically not Nougat, as it has no XPosed).

I just updated my phone (Galaxy S3) and I don't like the new way auto prediction works, it keeps trying to predict the next word instead of giving me quick access to the punctuation. Does any one know if there is a way to have the auto prediction just give you a list of punctuation once you hit the space bar instead of trying to guess the next word?
When I originally got my phone last year when ever I finished texting a word and hit the space bar, the auto prediction bar would show all my punctuation and that was great. Than I did an update a several months ago, and the auto prediction started giving me next word predictions instead, the only way I could find around that was to double tab the space bar, than hit backspace/delete, and that would allow my auto prediction to once again show the punctuation available. It was a few extra clicks but at least it was still quick access to punctuation and didn't slow down the flow to much. But with this latest update auto prediction only seems to give word suggestions, I can't find anyway to make it show me punctuation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Can someone please explain to me the android conceptual model between
1. language selection
2. spell correction
3. predictive text
4. keyboard
I.e., is it the responsibility of the keyboard app to support multiple language, provide dictionaries, and analyze the sentences you type to try to predict the next word? Or is the keyboard just responsible for noticing where your fingers touch and providing characters to another program which does the checking and prediction?
