According to Swype's advanced tips page : > Switching languages: To switch between the two most recent languages, Swype from the Swype-key to the key with the language initials on it. Since I updated Swype, the language initials are on the space bar and this tip doesn't work any more. I can still switch languages by long-pressing the space bar but that's a hassle. What's the new quick way to change the language? Here's a screenshot of the keyboard as it looks like for me: Swype keyboard with no dedicated language switching key

The problem I have, is in the standard email application when using swype keyboard and trying to delete a character, it will append the word again and so it's impossible to delete a word. For example: I type Test, then hit the backspace button and it results in TesTest. My question is now, can I solve this problem without having to root the phone in order to reinstall swype? ---------- Addition: My android version is 2.3.5, my firware version I9100BOKJ1.

I've been using the Swype/Dragon keyboard for years, because I found its swipe-typing function to work best, and the voice dictation was also the best for the languages I needed. Despite the app's discontinuation , the keyboard still works fine, in fact better than others I've tried, such as GBoard or Microsoft SwiftKey. However, the Dragon voice dictation server is down, so one can no longer use voice typing from within the Swype keyboard. Is there any way to keep Swype as a default keyboard but call up some other dictation component/app, such as Google Voice Typing, upon pressing the microphone key in Swype (below)? enter image description here

I'm using gboard from Google and I absolutely love it. I just have two questions about it because I come from using Swype which has a lot of nice and useful features to quickly which i miss heavily: 1. Is it somehow possible to easily create compound words like it is in swipe? In the German language we often concanate words together. Right now, I have to insert two Words, and afterwards remove the space in between and change capitalisation. It's cumbersome 2. Is it possible to select a whole word using some shortcut on the keyboard? Currently, to change the capitalisation of a word or to remove some word, I need to select the whole word before pressing backspace or shift keys. But when I click into the word only the cursor is placed in between. So i always need to long press it and to select the whole word from the os context menu... it's cumbersome especially for the case of deleting a wrongly written word afterward. Thanks a lot guys

How do you set the Swype keyboard to delete the entire word when the delete button is held down?
Older version did this but now it only happens to the first word. "If I have a sentence like this" and wanted to delete all the way to "If I" I could have held down the delete key and after a second it would start deleting word by word.

How do I type umlauts and other special characters with Swype?
I can change the swype-interpreting language, but the keyboard doesn't show me any special symbols. HTC Incredible with Swype 2.4.44.10912.t100 (have not updated to Dec beta, yet). I just want to swipe "Blue Öyster Cult" -- is that so wrong?

I get very frustrated with all these random words that I know I'll never use! I can't tell you how many times I've had the word "Getty" show up instead of the word "get". If there is really no way of removing words from Swype's built-in dictionary I'll probably need to find an alternative. That's probably another question though.

I have both swedish and english activated in GBoard, but I'm using the swedish layout so I get easy access to the letter å ä ö. My problem is that Gboard doesn't seem to "learn" some new words. A specific example is when I'm swiping hon (swedish for her), it **never** suggests hon, instead it autocorrects it to jobb (swedish for work) every single time. I've erased the suggestion, I've typed h o n manually and clicked it in the top bar - I even added hon to my personal dictionary in the Gboard settings, but nothing seems to help. It's gotten so ridiculous that I just stopped erasing and correcting it when texting some of my friends, I just informed them that if they see an oddly placed jobb, just assume I mean hon :) On a side note - both me and one of my friends (who's using Sony's built in keyboard) seem to experience periods of our predictions going haywire and suggesting completely wrong words, or in my case often weird acronyms like DF, DT, DGV etc. This seems to last for a few days and then it gets better for few weeks. Might just be coincidental, but I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing something similar?

My phone died earlier today, and when I turned it on the curl was suddenly there... Idk where it came from or how to get rid of it. Because it's sapping my battery, I can see the difference, and it frankly really annoying. Ive even had to move all my app up to the top of the pages just so I don't inadvertently swipe the tiniest bit and that curl pops up.... The device is a Samsung Note 5 recently updated from Sprint running the Swype keyboard. The error message "Samsung keyboard keeps stopping" is appearing over and over after trying to send an emoji in a text message. The keyboard area is a black space. I rebooted the device to attempt to clear the error. After reboot it requires a typed password. The following issues occur: * No keyboard appears when touching the password textbox. * No keyboard appears when touching the keyboard settings menu button. * The Power button does not power cycle the device. * The Reset button does work. * If you open the camera via the quick launch from the lock screen the "Samsung keyboard keeps stopping" message appears for each time you attempt a keyboard UI action. The device appears bricked. Other advice online suggests factory reset. Is there a way to revert the device to a working keyboard without a factory reset?
