I've bought an adapter for watching movies and tv shows from my smartphone (galaxy s3) to the big screen tv.
For some reason, all of the video player apps I've tried so far have problems with showing Hebrew subtitles: either they become gibberish, or they have punctuations marks being put on the wrong places (for example "." in the beginning of the sentence instead of at the end).
Here's a screenshot of MX-Player app, showing a subtitle :
In Hebrew, the "." should be placed on the left of the sentence since you read from right to left. Same goes with any other mark (such as "?" , "!", "," ,...).
On a PC, it's hard to find any app that has such problems.
Maybe it's because it's an RTL (right to left) language, and Android doesn't support such languages well (on 4.2 i think the situation has changed though).
Anyway, is there anything one can do about this? Does it require a special video player to shows Hebrew subtitles well?

Is it possible to change interface language to Hebrew?
Is it possible to change the GUI language to Hebrew in an Amazon Fire 7/8/10 tablet? To clarify - not the input (keyboard) language, but the interface itself. [I am assuming Fire OS questions fit in this forum. If you think there is a better place to ask, please let me know]

My Android OS came with Hebrew/English pre-installed. The problem is that in the imported address book all of the Hebrew in contacts show as gibberish.
I tried switching back and forth the default language, but that made no difference.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Nexus 7 (2013) (Android 4.4.2). Recently I bought a Bluetooth keyboard to go with it.
For English the keyboard works as expected, however I noticed that there is no Hebrew language when adding layouts for the Broadcom BT HID.
I have Hebrew with the virtual keyboard (comes with it - I didn't have to use 3rd party software).
Is there a way to add/install Hebrew so I could use it with the physical keyboard (without 3rd party apps)? As I see it, it is a software thing since the keyboard sends the same signals only the mapping is different.
If no, is there a way to do such a thing with 3rd party apps?

I can't seem to find a text editor which behaves correctly in regards to bi-directional text. I type a lot in hebrew, with some english mixed in. In most of the apps I've tried (google docs, and mobisoft office suite), it doesn't render the spacing correctly and therefore you can't read the text as you're typing.
I started using VerbTeX, which has a simple text editor that works surprisingly well in this regard, but it gets slow and can't save to my external SD card.
If anyone knows a way that I can get my text files to display properly while I type them, it would be very helpful.

Nexus 5 with an English interface and a Hebrew keyboard

I am trying to run flash website with my *Samsung Galaxy S3* (running Jelly Bean 4.3). The website is built for Internet Explorer only, but I succeeded running it on my FireFox browser on my PC. When I am trying to run this website on my phone, it runs properly except of one thing: the Hebrew shows Gibberish.
Example:
I know that Adobe stopped publishing Android flash player, but it still can be download from Adobe's website.
I search on the Internet and tried alot of things:
- Flash Player isn't influenced by the browser encoding.
- I tried to replace a lot of browsers on Android, no one solves the problem.
- After understanding the locale can be the problem I decided to make my IE on my PC show the same Gibresih. I change the region on my windows 7 control panel and my IE showed the same problem.
- My device is English but I use application like customlocale2 (I tried a lot of those applications). I tried to run the website on my friend's *Galaxy S3* (genuine Hebrew) and the same thing happend.
- After searching on the internet I found this link , which shows how to change Firefox config on Android devices. I saw that the locale isn't for Hebrew. I tried to change all the configs that look like related to locale from my PC FireFox (couldn't find how to import config to Firefox on Android), but the same thing happended. (Maybe I miss some configs).
- Firefox doesn't have Hebrew edition to android device yet.
- When I tried it on Google Chrome on my PC, the same thing happend. when I change the language of Google Chrome (including UI) and tried it works!
- I tried to enter to other Flash site I know and the Hebrew was upside-down.

When I bought my Desire S in Israel I was under the assumption that it's OS (Android 2.3) came with built in Hebrew support.
When I turned the phone on I discovered that there isn't an option to choose Israel as a locale and that I don't even don't have a Hebrew keyboard. That doesn't bother me (despite the fact that it should be supported) as much as the fact that even after I downloaded a Hebrew keyboard my SMSs and other little things in Hebrew appear left to right and not right to left (RTL).
What can I do to make it appear in the correct RTL way?
