I've started listening to music on **Spotify** with the sleep timer as I go to sleep. However, I normally have **Do Not Disturb** enabled when I sleep, and Do Not Disturb blocks all media because I have the "Media sounds" setting setting to not be able to interrupt. I don't want to enabled this setting because I don't want things like text messages to ding during the night. I see there is a way to allow notifications from specific apps through Do Not Disturb, but is there a way to allow audio from specific apps? Specifically, I'd like Spotify to be able to play when I have Do Not Disturb up, and nothing else. I'm running Android 13.

I just updated my OG Pixel 1 to Android 10. I normally use light mode (not dark mode), but my phone just hit the threshold to turn on battery saver mode, and now it has forced my phone into dark mode. I can't toggle this in settings while battery saver is on, and I don't see any settings in battery saver to prevent this force theme change. I find it incomprehensible that this wouldn't be an option, given that there are plenty of phones (like the OG Pixel) that still use LCD screens, and thus whose screen colors don't affect the battery usage. Are there any settings, hidden or otherwise, that prevent dark mode from activating during battery saver on Android 10?

I have a pixel 9 Pro and I got a replacement for some hardware issues recently. I'm trying to copy all settings over and I noticed that advanced protection (under security and privacy) is not available on the new phone. Both phones are the same model and have been updated to the same OS, security patch, and play services version. I cannot figure out why the seeing isn't available on the new phone. Does anyone know what I can check?

The menu appears to have been hidden on the more recent Android releases — currently on Android 14 the only per-app toggle the users are given is 'allow background usage' (app info → app battery usage). On my Oneplus 8T device the OS is actively stopping some apps designed to be running on the background at all times, such as Shizuku . On AOSP-based ROMs three settings used to be available for each app, the most permissive being 'unrestricted'. SystemUI Tuner didn't expose the menu. --- Using ADB is an acceptable answer as well.

I was looking forward to using per-app languages with Android 13. However, my OnePlus 8T does not feature the necessary settings item for that on OxygenOS 13. Is it possible to set a different language with an adb shell command? adb shell settings get global settings_app_locale_opt_in_enabled returns null, so I'm not sure if it's even implemented at all. Smartphone is rooted with Magisk.

I'm running rooted stock Android 14 on my Nothing 2 device, and I want to enable restricted settings for a couple of apps. I have searched on line about this, and everywhere I found info about this, we are always told to use the 3-dot "Hamburger menu" or the "More" settings on the page for the app within Settings=>Apps. However, there is never any "Hamburger menu" nor "More" setting that appears on any of the app pages that are available under Settings=>Apps on my device/OS combination. Is there an alternate way to enable restricted settings for given apps? ... perhaps via some sort of adb command? **UPDATE**: I just discovered that the same is also true on my rooted Stock Android 11 OnePlus 7Pro device: no "Hamburger menu" nor "More" setting for any app listed under the "Apps" section.

Is it possible to get the welcome screen again after going through it without having to wipe the device? I mean the screen where you pick language, configure your Wi-Fi, log into a Google account, etc. I know all those things can be done from the Settings menu, but still, I want to get the welcome screen again, without having to factory-reset. The phone is rooted, in case it matters. I want to make the welcome app start when switching the phone on, so I guess this might involve editing some config file which is read at startup.

I've just set up a WiFi router to use with an audio device which is controllable by Android devices through LAN. This router is expected to not have an internet connection - its sole purpose for me is to route the local network and enable the controlling via my Android phone. However, my phone (a Moto G5S, with Android 7.1.1 installed) simply refuses to connect to this router - even though I can perfectly connect to it from a laptop. I even removed my other routers from my phone, to prevent it from jumping to WiFi connections that have internet, but it still doesn't connect to this "offline router". Now, a bit of a plot twist: I did see a notification about the WiFi connection not having access to the internet, but I simply swiped it off. I tried connecting with my wife's Android, and, instead of swiping off the notification on her phone, I clicked it and I saw that it offered the option to stay connected even without internet. However, I can't do this on my Android anymore, since I got rid of that notification. Yeah, I feel stupid, but, in my defense, I had no idea that ability would be only available there. I even tried "forgetting" the WiFi connection and re-entering the password, but it just won't show me that notification anymore. So, any ideas of how to fix this, guys? How can I force the connection to my internet-less router, or, alternatively, how can I force my Android to show me the notification about "WiFi offline" again?

I have an old Samsung Galaxy S9 (Android 10) without a SIM. It is connected to WiFi. I use it to cast TV programs to the TV only. However, the time it displays is way off. I searched in Settings for Clock and timezone, without luck. The system clock on the phone is set to NZ, even though I am in Australia now. **Is there a way to set the clock manually?**

Lately, I’ve been getting random pop-up ads on my Android device, even when I'm not actively using a browser. These ads appear over any app I’m using — YouTube, messaging, games, etc. It’s not limited to a specific app; they just appear at random times. Example: I haven't recently installed any sketchy apps, but I suspect one of the apps might be causing this in the background. It's super disruptive and annoying. Has anyone experienced this before? How can I find the source of the ad and stop it permanently?

I'm working on a Samsung Galaxy A35 and want to *prevent* the activation of "Maintenance Mode" from the settings. Ideally, this prevention should be as close to permanent as possible; a build.prop or ADB command would be ideal. I'm happy if this change hides/removes the entire "Device Care" section from the settings. Unfortunately, whenever I google for "Disable Maintenance Mode", I get instructions back for *leaving* Maintenance Mode, rather than actually disallowing it entirely. I launched the Cupcake malware application from https://github.com/dmitrijkotov634/Cupcake that changed my settings, not only the visual part, but also the more systemic one. I restarted the phone and couldn't enter the password because the font was large and couldn't fit on the screen, the keyboard wouldn't open. Next, I set myself a TWRP custom and deleted the file responsible for the password from there. I logged in to the desktop without a password, changed the font to S in the settings, but then, unfortunately, the applications did not start at all, it wrote "Before opening applications, wait for the phone to complete a full reboot." I have created my own DNS resolver for blocking some web pages and I can't figure out how to use it on Android. If I configure the DNS of any other device to use my DNS, it works like a charm (I've tested this both Windows and Ubuntu). I tried configuring it in the Private DNS section of an Android, but it keeps saying "Couldn't Connect". If I use 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com instead, it works. So, my question is: What are the requirements for a DNS Provider to be configurable in the Android's Private DNS section?

I'm using Android Pie on a Samsung Galaxy S9 phone. I noticed if I set the media volume down all the way to mute it that the volume is turned up a bit only while on a call. If anyone is experiencing this issue, it would be appreciated if you can tell me if there are any settings I can access to stop Android from adjusting the media volume while on a call taking it out of mute mode.

I've recently switched to Android from iOS. I'm a bit annoyed that my Gmail notifications do not include any of the body. It only displays the subject. This is what it looks like (not my phone, but it gets the point across). You can see that it doesn't show the body at all. I'd prefer it to look like this below How can I do this? In an app called App Cloner, I am trying to toggle ON "Install automatically." When I try to toggle, I get a message of being redirected to Android Accessibility, where I can enable or disable this service. I go to **Android Accessibility**, but it is grayed out, set to OFF. I tap on it to see the message: > **Restricted setting** > > For your security, this setting is unavailable. > > Harmful apps might ask you to change this setting to get your personal data. This setting can't be changed unless you allow restricted settings in More options for specific apps in Settings > Apps. I have a new HMD Pulse+ running Android 14. I unwisely enabled the app suggestion box at the bottom of the screen and can't get rid of it. Hoping I don't have to do a system reset to lose it. Home settings is rumoured to be the place to do this, but there's no option there. I've done: 1. Long-pressing the empty space gets me the home settings screen above, but the widget and wallpaper options from the long-press go nowhere. 2. Searching "suggestions" in Settings goes nowhere. How can I remove suggestions from the home screen of HMD Pulse+?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A35 5G phone with Xfinity Mobile. Why does my phone show a 2nd Facebook account in my Settings-Accounts? I have the normal one, and then the 2nd one shows a bunch of numbers only. I delete it and will check back later, and most of the time it's showing again.
