I'm using Nothing phone 3a pro, Android 15, it has USB 2.0.
PC System: Windows 10 home edition with last update.
Tried to connect it to usb 3.1, 3.0, 2.0, I see the storage of my phone, but when I go into it,and it is empty
I rebooted my PC, rebooted Phone. Reconnected it.
I gave all the recommendations from “Nothing support.” (change cables, developer settings usb, reset and etc.) Only I didnt do is to reset my phone to factory settings.
My old phone Samsung A80 which has USB 2.0 too, still have good connection to the PC.
Nothing phone haven't got own drivers.
What I did:
- Enable usb debugging mode.
- Enable the transfer file on phone.
- Have screen ON.
- I download program which automatically load new drivers, also I update windows, but nothing happened again.
- I changed drivers in device manager, delete my device, reinstall drivers.
- Also I tried VirtualBox with cleared Windows 10 on same hardware. Got same problem, folders didn’t load.
- Also Installed new clear Windows 10 to another SSD on same hardware. Same problem.
Any possible solutions?
If you need more information, please write your reply.

No longer being prompted for file sharing permission when connecting to PC via USB - instead it automatically allows it

Usually, when connecting my Samsung Galaxy A54 5G (SM-A546E/DS) running Android 14 to my Windows 11 PC via USB, I am prompted to allow or decline file sharing. This was still the case a few days ago.
Today, when attempting this as usual, instead of being prompted for permission on my phone upon connection, my PC asked what to do with the device as if it were a new device. When I selected to open the device's storage in File Explorer, it did so with no prompt for permission on my phone. It is now continuing to not ask permission and instead immediately opens the storage each time I try to connect.
Neither device has had any significant updates or changes that I am aware of since the last time this was working as expected.
This issue appears to only be present when using this instance of Windows on this PC. It is not present when running my other OS (Linux) instead, nor when trying with a different PC running Windows 11. Therefore, my first guess is that somehow this Windows instance has been added as a trusted device for file sharing.
How might this have happened, and how could I return behaviour to normal?

Revoking data access authorization to a specific computer on Samsung devices

I connected a Samsung smartphone to a Windows computer through a USB cable and had the usual pop-up:
> **Allow access to phone data?**
>
> The connected device will be able to access data on this phone.
>
> DENY ALLOW
I checked "ALLOW," but I'd like to revoke this authorization, and I cannot.
When I plug and unplug the computer, the phone is immediately visible and I can access its data from the computer.
I tried to uninstall the mobile from the *device manager* (and rebooted the computer, just to be sure...). I shut down the mobile and restarted it. But as soon as I plug it again, it is accessible from the computer and reappears in the *device manager*.
Strangely enough, while the phone is entirely removed from the *device manager*, it is still listed in the *autoexecution* section of the *control panel*.
When connected, I could also access *USB parameters* on the phone, that are not accessible otherwise. I can shut the access by choosing "charge only," but it's not permanent (when unplugging and plugging again, it goes back to file transfer mode).
Looking on the internet and on this forum, I only found the opposite question (people who checked "DENY" and would like to "ALLOW" now; but that's not an issue for me as, in this case, unplugging and plugging again makes the popup appear again).
The closest related solution I found was to revoke USB debugging authorization in developer mode, but it seems strange and unrelated to a mere access to the mobile folder. I didn't dare test this option.

On USB plugging('File Transfer' selected), I can only access files from Phone by normal copy paste(ctrl-c/v) but cannot access full file path from Phone because there is no drive letter assigned.
where disk is sd card.
I am getting files path as "This PC\Redmi Note 5 Pro\Internal shared storage" but want something like "P:\Redmi Note 5 Pro\Internal shared storage" How to get it without rooting phone?
Purpose: I want to backup my phone data to PC periodically using "Areca backup" open source utility which creates incremental backup. Note: I will not be writing any data to Phone but will only need to read it for copy operation.
Edit(11Feb2025): I am using FreeFileSync from a long time now and can say that it is a life saver. I would pay for it without a second thought but it's completely free. It not only syncs from phone to PC but PC to hard drive for periodic backups too. We just need to mention file paths.
For Android, path starts from mtp://

Is there a way to make Android/a Galaxy S7 prompt Win 7 to install the drivers for MTP?
I own two S7 I use for work, one I've had for a while and used it to develop Android apps, the second I got a week ago and set it up today. Both I updated to Nougat 7.0 today (they were both on 6.0 with different Builds) and my old one instantly made Windows install the drivers for MTP and PTP but the new one only did it for PTP. I can still access everything on it with MTP but Eclipse/Android Studio/adb devices don't see it with that.
I tried killing the adb server, unplugging, restarting, changing the setting to PTP and back,... but nothing has worked so far.
The devloper mode and USB debugging are enabled on both S7s and I also updated the Google USB driver and installed the Android 7.0 SDK Platform through the Android SDK Manager today. The latest version of Kies is installed too but it also can't see the new S7 in MTP mode (to be honest, didn't test with PTP mode).
So, is there a way to kind of reset the whole MTP deal on the new S7 (preferebly without resetting the phone), so it makes Win 7 look for drivers again?
Bonus question: Can I make Nougat's developer settings' USB debugging default to PTP? Every time I unplug the phone, Android sets it back to MTP.

My only internet connection at present is via a hotspot on Moto G7 (running Android Version 10) connecting via GiffGaff (which runs on the O2 network). I keep the phone data on 3G as 4G seems slower when the network strength is low.
I have had a connectivity problem between my phone and my Asus laptop running Win 10 Home (build 19042.1348) for about the last year.
Sometimes the connection is fine running at 1-3 Mbps download but frequently it disconnects. I can often get a reconnection by disconnecting and reconnecting my connection to the phone hotspot on my laptop and/or by running Windows' network Troubleshooter. This disconnection happens every 3-10 minutes so having to reconnect 10 times an hour is not unusual.
I would be grateful for two things:
Firstly if there is an obvious solution I would love to hear it;
Secondly I am unfamiliar with this area and would be grateful for a recommendation of diagnostic tools.
I emphasise this is a problem of connectivity between the laptop and the phone via wifi. This is not a problem of the network to the phone.
Thanks for your time.

I'm pretty new to rooting devices, so answer it like I'm 7 and just found out the bootloader exists.

My Windows 10 crashed I do not have an extra PC to connect to or this would be simple. I do however have a cell phone with a 32 GB SD card.
The core problem of why I cannot just extract the Windows media to my SD card is something I cannot understand.
WinRAR will not extract the INF file to the root directory of my SD card. It's not WinRar's fault, it's Android who won't allow it.
> Cannot create /storage/C560-1917/autorun.inf
> • Permission denied
I even wrote my own auto run in a notepad text file and tried to rename it to .INF but Android doesn't like that either.
Anyone have any ideas or other methods to jump start my PC from crappy Android phone? Or any other slick methods?
I even went down to Windows 98 thinking that it was an .INI file back in the old days but nope it's an .INF file also.

Almost every photo I take, I transfer to my Windows 10 PC. I normally do this by connecting the USB cable between them and using Windows explorer. All my phones fail with the USB connector becoming loose on the phone. I normally charge it wirelessly, it's only the car Android Auto and Windows connection that requires a physical cable.
I would like to minimise the usage of the USB connector.
How can I connect the two using WiFi or Bluetooth, so that I can transfer files across.

Followup on https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/185326/how-has-usb-file-transfer-changed-in-android-changed-over-the-years
I've learned that Android 4.3 and later versions don't have this feature because Micro$oft.
Newer options, Media device (MTP) or Camera (PTP) mode, are horrendous.
It also causes other issues for (Windows) programs that relied on android having USB Mass Storage Mode.
----------
Off hand reasons why MTP is awful.
1. Can't copy more than one thing at a time. (Device is busy warning)
2. Warnings that I need to convert files before copying every single time.
3. Just seems to be a lot slower at copying files.
4. Can't edit files on the phone from Windows.
----------
So, how can you enable USB Mass Storage Mode on newer versions of Android?
Let's say I'm rooted and can install a custom iso if that makes a difference.
*I've tried searching google, the app store, and xda forums for solutions.*

My Samsung Galaxy A24 phone used to work fine with my Windows 10 laptop via scrcpy.exe, on a USB-C cable. I did not change anything in the setup. Suddenly, now scrcpy shows the phone's screen fine on the laptop's screen, but mouse clicks have no effect, both left-click and right-click. How do I fix this? What I have tried is:
- Restart the phone;
- Pull out the USB cable cable and connect again.
- Revoke USB debugging permissions;
- Turn off and then on USB debugging. To no avail.
Still, mouse clicks do nothing, whereas the phone's screen is shown fine, and directly touching the phone's own screen with the finger works as expected.

I have OnePlus Nord. I have installed:

USB debugging and OEM unlocking are on.
With the phone turned on, everything runs fine. I can copy files onto the device and it shows up in adb and the device manager just fine.
But when I go into the bootloader, fastboot does not list or recognize the device.
Here is the fastboot mode shown on the device
Not sure if this is normal or not, but I am out of ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.

It doesn't even give me the menu on my phone to pick what to do when connected (charge, transfer files, etc.). In the settings on my phone, everything is greyed out.
I also think this is causing Android Auto not to work in my car. Others have tested their phones and can connect to the radio instantly. I have searched the settings and developer options and can not find which setting is incorrect.

My previous Lenovo tablet with Android 7 had no problem with this procedure:
1. I connect it via a USB cable to a PC with Windows 7.
2. I select the device (tablet) in the Windows Explorer.
3. I open the (virtual) folder **“Internal shared storage”** (or the other, “SD Card”, as I had the SD card inserted in it, too).
Then I sow directories and files on the tablet, and I was able to copy them from tablet to PC and vice versa, rename them, delete them, and so on.
In my new tablet Lenovo with Android 11 and the same PC with Windows 7, I am able to perform only first 2 steps – then I see only an empty window, no folders in it (i.e., no “Internal shared storage” or other directory / file in it).
When I try to copy a file to that empty folder, I obtain the message as
> It is not possible to copy the item.
> The device stopped to respond, or is disconnected.
Is it something bad with settings? Is it possible to fix it?
*Note:*
I may go around and copy files from the tablet to the USB stick and then from the USB stick to the PC, but this is so annoying and slow…
(The USB stick is connected with a short converting cable to the same USB port on the tablet as the USB cable connecting the tablet and PC in the previous step 1.)
