I'm using Nothing phone 3a pro, Android 15, it has USB 2.0. PC System: Windows 10 home edition with last update. Tried to connect it to usb 3.1, 3.0, 2.0, I see the storage of my phone, but when I go into it,and it is empty I rebooted my PC, rebooted Phone. Reconnected it. I gave all the recommendations from “Nothing support.” (change cables, developer settings usb, reset and etc.) Only I didnt do is to reset my phone to factory settings. My old phone Samsung A80 which has USB 2.0 too, still have good connection to the PC. Nothing phone haven't got own drivers. What I did: - Enable usb debugging mode. - Enable the transfer file on phone. - Have screen ON. - I download program which automatically load new drivers, also I update windows, but nothing happened again. - I changed drivers in device manager, delete my device, reinstall drivers. - Also I tried VirtualBox with cleared Windows 10 on same hardware. Got same problem, folders didn’t load. - Also Installed new clear Windows 10 to another SSD on same hardware. Same problem. Any possible solutions? If you need more information, please write your reply.

I've installed [Neo Backup](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.machiav3lli.backup) which allows me to do (scheduled) backups of my applications data to device's file system. Now what I want is to use my PC as a storage for that backups, and transfer them via wifi. I have 2 Wi-Fi use cases: - When my phone and PC are connected to the home router, - And when my PC connected to the phone in hotspot mode. So I want backups to work in both cases. There are application named [SyncThing](https://syncthing.net) which I familiar with, but it's not suitable for my case because I don't want backups to be stored and take space on the phone at all. But one great feature of SyncThing is that both devices can find each other no matter which local network they are in. I tried [CIFS Documents Provider](https://f-droid.org/ru/packages/com.wa2c.android.cifsdocumentsprovider) , and it works, but only when I know exact IP or hostname of my PC in local network. It seems like what I really need is the similar application but with ability to find my PC no matter what IP or hostname it has. Anyone can suggest such, or maybe other solution for my needs?

[Android 11](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_11) came out in late 2020, when most home networks use WiFi. After searching for hours, I have been unable to find a built-in way of transferring files from my Windows PC to my Android Pixel (and ideally the reverse, too) without downloading a special app from the Play Store. This is shocking to me. Is it really the case that Android doesn't natively support WiFi file transfer? [I'd rather not need to search for (and decide whether I trust) a third-party app. And I'd certainly rather not use a physical cable for file transfers like it's 1990.]

No longer being prompted for file sharing permission when connecting to PC via USB - instead it automatically allows it

Usually, when connecting my Samsung Galaxy A54 5G (SM-A546E/DS) running Android 14 to my Windows 11 PC via USB, I am prompted to allow or decline file sharing. This was still the case a few days ago. Today, when attempting this as usual, instead of being prompted for permission on my phone upon connection, my PC asked what to do with the device as if it were a new device. When I selected to open the device's storage in File Explorer, it did so with no prompt for permission on my phone. It is now continuing to not ask permission and instead immediately opens the storage each time I try to connect. Neither device has had any significant updates or changes that I am aware of since the last time this was working as expected. This issue appears to only be present when using this instance of Windows on this PC. It is not present when running my other OS (Linux) instead, nor when trying with a different PC running Windows 11. Therefore, my first guess is that somehow this Windows instance has been added as a trusted device for file sharing. How might this have happened, and how could I return behaviour to normal?

I recently transferred two videos from a Samsung Android phone to my Oppo Reno 4 using Bluetooth. The transfer took a few minutes, and I received a notification confirming that both videos were successfully received (2 successful, 0 failed). However, when I checked the Oppo device, the videos were nowhere to be found—neither in the gallery nor in any file manager. I’m not looking for a fix, just trying to understand: is this a known issue on Android? What could explain a successful transfer notification followed by missing files? I ended up re-sending the files, which worked the second time, but having to wait again was frustrating.

It's trivial to access normal Android files. Plug a USB cable into my phone and PC, select "File Transfer" and my files show up in Windows Explorer. Is it possible to access my "Work Profile" files in the same manner? I don't see any path to them in Windows Explorer when connected (to Android 11) via USB. I'm guessing this access may not be possible.

I am getting files path as "This PC\Redmi Note 5 Pro\Internal shared storage" but want something like "P:\Redmi Note 5 Pro\Internal shared storage" How to get it without rooting phone? Purpose: I want to backup my phone data to PC periodically using "Areca backup" open source utility which creates incremental backup. Note: I will not be writing any data to Phone but will only need to read it for copy operation. Edit(11Feb2025): I am using FreeFileSync from a long time now and can say that it is a life saver. I would pay for it without a second thought but it's completely free. It not only syncs from phone to PC but PC to hard drive for periodic backups too. We just need to mention file paths. For Android, path starts from mtp://

I've been using an old Android phone (not rooted) as an occasional backup device, manually using scp or rsync to copy data to its 256 GB SD-card. I have to manually wake up the phone before I do this though. How difficult would it be to get the phone to run an always available NFS service, with its storage mounted onto my desktop (Ubuntu), so that it behaves like part of the local filesystem? That it might be slow is not an issue. (One vague goal is to automate the backups and hide the device in the basement or elsewhere in case of a breakin and theft of the computer.)

I have LG L5 (e610 model) device with Cyanogenmod 10. When I connect the phone to a computer with Linux (I have mtpfs installed), I can see both internal storage and the SD card. However when I navigate inside them, I can't see some of the files. For example, if I open file manager app on the phone, I can see several files in the Internal storage/Notifications directory, however the directory on the computer only shows one of those files. If I switch USB connection type to PTP (camera) - as OS X doesn't support MTP natively - Image Capture sees the phone as a camera, however it can only see about a third of all the images present on the phone. I don't have a Windows machine to try, but I suspect the results would be similar. I tried upgrading Cyanogenmod to the latest nightly, clearing and reinstalling it - same results. Any idea as to what is going on? How can I make all files appear on the host computer?

I use FL Studio Mobile to make music on my phone, and I recently switched to a Pixel 8 and need to transfer all of my FL Studio files to my new phone. It's all in the app's data folder, due to how apps work, and I was able to back up all my files, but I can't get them into the app data folder on my new phone. I've tried using the system file manager, but it can't write or modify folders that were created by FLM. If I copy "My Samples" for instance, instead of merging with the existing "My Samples" folder, it just creates "My Samples(1)". Can't move it or delete the original. I've also tried adb, but it doesn't have permission to push anything to the app data folder. Is there no workaround? I know in Android 13 there were a few tricks you could use, but now none of those work. I also need to be able to do this in order to back up and restore my saves for games like Stardew Valley and Terraria, which are also stored in the app data folders. I heard there's a trick to using the tmp folder, and running the push command as the app itself, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right, or I also don't have permission to use run-as. Can't root because I financed the phone and I can't unlock the bootloader until I'm no longer in T-Mobile's pocket. To clarify, I'm talking about the main app data folder, as in the folder called "data" where every app is stored at /sdcard/android/data. In this case, the app data folder is called com.imageline.FLM For ADB, I've tried the push command, and I've tried using run-as to use the app's permissions to move the files from the tmp folder. Nothing works, because I don't have permission to write to the Android/data folder. There used to be workarounds on Android 13, that apps like Total Commander used, but those have all been fixed. Even the system file picker itself can't write any files to the com.imageline.FLM folder. Thanks in advance for any help or advice, even if it's "you're out of luck".

Followup on https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/185326/how-has-usb-file-transfer-changed-in-android-changed-over-the-years I've learned that Android 4.3 and later versions don't have this feature because Micro$oft. Newer options, Media device (MTP) or Camera (PTP) mode, are horrendous. It also causes other issues for (Windows) programs that relied on android having USB Mass Storage Mode. ---------- Off hand reasons why MTP is awful. 1. Can't copy more than one thing at a time. (Device is busy warning) 2. Warnings that I need to convert files before copying every single time. 3. Just seems to be a lot slower at copying files. 4. Can't edit files on the phone from Windows. ---------- So, how can you enable USB Mass Storage Mode on newer versions of Android? Let's say I'm rooted and can install a custom iso if that makes a difference. *I've tried searching google, the app store, and xda forums for solutions.*

There are a lot of very old answers to this question, and they are not helping me. * I am running MacOS Venture 13.2.1 * I have a Pixel 4a running Android 13 patched to March 2023 * I have Android File Transfer 1.0.12 which is the latest stable version available * I have never had a Samsung phone so haven't installed Kies. * When connecting the USB cable I get a notification and can select File transfer/Android Auto * The same USB cable is working fine with Windows. The USB port on my Mac is working fine with a hard drive. I am able to connect to the phone using ADB but don't want to use ADB to transfer files all the time when there is a simple GUI that allows this. I am having the same issue on my Windows computer, so I am wondering if there is some setting on my phone I have missed. Update - I am able to access files on my phone via Windows fine after all. I see MTP showing up in Devices, and can see my Phone by it's name in File Explorer. Update 2: I apologise for not giving more detail about what does happen. When I connect my Pixel 4a to my Mac Android File Transfer does not open automatically. When I run it manually, I get a message saying 'No Android device found. The phone detects the connection (hence the USB mode notification, but it seems the Mac does not.

Using ADB or other methods, is there a way to access the secondary account's files? The Meta Quest Developer Hub is able to download files in the File Manager tab on Windows, which makes me think, there must be a way to access the folders Pictures, etc. for the secondary user to copy and paste into directly from the computer or to possibly transfer between users without wasting bandwidth. Filtered with Wireshark filtered by the IP and port of the Meta Quest, it is picking up some shell commands, although I'm not even sure where to begin, as in a matter of seconds, it is over a thousand packets. 1772 packets 261 contain the word "shell" within a few seconds. I tried to force it to redownload a small picture from the file manager tab. Perhaps the process is not a plain text command as some packets I'm not understanding.

I needed to format my phone completely, so I connected it and copied all my photos and music to a location on my PC (running Linux if that is pertinent). After formatting my phone, I reconnected it to my PC and transferred everything back to it's original location. This appears to have modified the created timestamp of all the files to the time at which they were copied to my PC, which is wreaking havoc with how they are displayed, e.g. in Google messages app when I open my gallery to send a photo to someone, it's showing photos from 10 years ago at the top. The modified timestamp appears to be correct. Is there any way to rectify this issue at this point or have I put myself in a predicament? Example file metadata: enter image description here P.S. I'm not sure if Android Enthusiasts is the right forum to pose this question in but I'm a bit lost. If this belongs elsewhere please point me in the right direction.

I have multiple Samsung android stock handsets (not rooted) and I need to backup the data to my Linux pc. Call logs, SMS, Photos, WhatsApp Messages, Samsung notes, Spotify, etc. One problem I've found is that data like call logs and SMS do not appear to exist as files on the device, or if they do are hidden away in directory paths that may not be accessible depending on Android version - Eg Android 10 we can view ***Internal Storage/Android/data***, but in Android 11 we cannot. Additionally, data like WhatsApp messages would require the manual exporting of each and every chat thread, this is a very tiresome and exhaustive process. Ideally I'm seeking a method akin to Linux dd if=handset of=pc This way the entire device is backed up in one go, and if I need to access a specific file, I can do so later, without the dread of potentially forgetting to save x file from x path What is the simplest way I can wholesomely, in a timely manner, save the data from these devices and continue with my life? Somebody has mentioned using EDL, but another said EDL only works if you want to restore the backup to that Exact device, whereas I want to save files to my pc.
